  1. Just wondering: For those who had a sleeve done and have a physically demanding job that involves lifting/ patient care activities how long you were off after surgery?

    MOTIVATION POST

    Nice job!
  4. I am in the pre-surgical stage for a sleeve. My question is after you are healed and able to eat solid food do you eat like a normal skinny person or do you always have to follow bariatric recipes? Does meal planning get easier?
  5. I have covid as well. My case is mild as well. I Talked to my surgeon’s office and they ordered a chest X-ray no sooner than 14 days after my symptoms end to assure there is no lingering problem from the Covid. A Covid test before surgery would not necessarily be useful as I may test positive for a while. I think it is important that you are symptom free at surgery time, I scheduled my surgery a little later ( Feb 24) than originally planned to allow for time to recover from Covid. Good luck in your recovery.

    Anyone for Jan/ Feb 2021

I just got my surgery date scheduled for Feb 24th. Will have 1 week liquid diet which will be reviewed at my pre-op md appointment earlier in Feb. One possible issue though, I currently have Covid. I will need a chest xray to assure there is no lingering problem from the Covid. I am finishing up my quarantine and taking advantage of the lack of smell and taste right now. I also have to have an EKG, lab work and endoscopy pre op.
  7. I also think that it was helpful to hear some say they are still able to eat in social situations and it is not obvious he/ she has had surgery. Maybe my use of “normal” was not correct, but I do acknowledge the eating habits that have gotten me to this point are not “normal”.
  8. I think some of the above posts answered my question. I would like to be able to eat a meal like a slice of pizza and a sensible salad after I am fully recovered and at goal weight. That is a typical meal my “skinny” friends might order if we meet for food and drinks. I have been looking at a lot of different websites and appreciate the creative recipes people have come up with ( ricotta bake in a teeny tiny cup for instance) and understand the usefulness of those recipes right after surgery, but just wanted to hear from some veterans on this forum that they can eat foods from a standard menu within reason.
  9. I think I am going to go with what someone else said in a earlier post and just say I am on a medically supervised diet. I don’t want the drama that goes along with people in my business. I also don’t feel the need to share my medical info with everyone I know.

    Anyone for Jan/ Feb 2021

My surgeon is aiming for February surgery. Have not gotten exact date yet. Still adjusting to eating only 3 meals a day and trying to drink 64 oz water/crystal light etc daily. I am having easier time with the food than the water. Looking around these forums for recipes/advice/confidence in this decision. Have to do 3 months prior to qualifying for surgery.
