About Me
I had Gastric Bypass Roux-en-Y on 9/28/2020. I was discharged from the hospital on the afternoon of 9/30/2020, after staying an extra day due to a low-grade fever, an elevated resting heartbeat and abdominal pain. Several tests were completed during this time to find a leak, but nothing was discovered. I went home and was comfortable for a single day. Then the bloat started. I was unable to drink or eat anything. I started vomiting up what little water I could consume. I collapsed at home; the pain was unbearable and I could not breathe. I was readmitted late on 10/3/2020 with a blood pressure reading of 60/40. Emergency surgery was necessary to repair an Anastomotic Leak. I almost died. 2 JP Drains were added during this surgery. One drain on either side of my stomach. Also added was a Stent. I was then discharged from the hospital on 10/7/2020. The following week, after more pain, GERD, an unbreakable fever and a high resting heartbeat (110 +), I was sent back to the hospital (on 10/15/20) for dehydration and the administration of fluids and antibiotics. My left side JP drain with the bulb was removed on 10/17/2020 (pulled out by a physician; no surgery necessary). I was discharged from the hospital on the afternoon of 10/17/2020. After an entire day of dry heaving and vomiting, I went back to the hospital on 10/29/20. Emergency surgery was completed again, late on 10/29/2020 to remove the stent after it migrated into my bowels. The surgery was 4+ hours. Again, I almost died. A G-Tube for feeding was added during the same procedure (it is high up, right under my left breast). I am told that the G-Tube will remain in for at least 3 months (I have to not use it for a month before it can be removed). I use the tube for both hydration and nutrition. I have tube feedings of 1200 ml each day now. I was discharged from the hospital on 11/3/2020. After a scheduled Upper GI with Contrast, my right JP Drain was removed on 11/11/2020.
