2 months post - Chest and shoulder pain
displacedhoosier replied to Lilfootie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have had left shoulder pain since surgery that is worse when coughing/doing the breathing activities or sneezing or trying to sleep. It has been my biggest complaint post op! In the hospital I was told it was gas, which made sense. At my one week check-up, there was a bruise on my left shoulder. I thought I bruised myself from trying to press it, hold it. My surgeon thinks a bar was against my shoulder in surgery that caused the bruise. He isn't concerned but said that I'm the first patient he has seen with a bruised left shoulder post-op. I'm now two weeks post-op and it still hurts but not as bad, the bruising has gone away and otherwise I feel great. -
Sleeve Surgery was on 12/17 and Ready For My Two Weeks and Soft Foods!

I see you are in KY and I had my surgery in KY (Louisville). I, too, don't really have a "puree" state, rather soft/mushy foods. It's comforting to see another with a similar path! -

I'm two weeks post-op (rny & hiatal hernia repair) and experiencing something very similar. This isn't "head hunger:" nor thirst. I both drank and did my meditation/mindfulness and this continued throughout the afternoon and evening. It's nice to know I'm not alone! I have no idea if it has to do with my cycle but it stinks. Like you, I am over sweet tasting things. Miso soup (broth) has been the only appealing thing to me lately. Good luck, chin up and happy holidays!

RNY because of GERD, not weight loss?
displacedhoosier replied to AmandaQB's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had RNY 12/9, inspired by GERD. I know “inspired” is an odd choice of words, but that is truly what brought me to this process. It’s only 10 days post-op but I feel so good! -

We have Anthem/BCBS of Indiana and like others I had to have nutritional counseling, meet with behavior therapist, release from my family physician, records of previous attempts at losing weight as well as medical records from various records shared with the bariatric surgeon. My original request was denied 16 days after submitting the "packet", but once resubmitted it was pproved within 24 hours.

I am scheduled for gastric bypass on 12-9. I had my final pre-admission test today (Covid) and in disbelief that the date is almost here. The liver shrinking diet has not been the most fun but has been a good lesson in mind over matter.
