Hi Nancy, Welcome to this board. I have read a lot of good info here. I am still undecided as to Lapband or RNY. I have another w/Dr. Eibes tomorrow. I need to decide so they can submit my paperwork to my insurance. Hopefully your 6 months will fly by. It is a bummer to have to wait once you decide you want surgery. Take care. Candi

I am on my way to hopefully getting approved for LBS. I originally really wanted GBS but my Primary Care Phy, LBS, nutritionist & therapist all say LBS would be best for me. I am hoping that by coming to this site and reading all of your stories I will feel better about LBS. Thanks, Candi

LJV & Carol...I am also from DSM and am awaiting approval from Des Moines Bariatrics (Methodist). This waiting is killing me. I plan to call tomorrow to see if they have everything ready to send in to my ins. I am such an impatient person. Carol, have you gone to the support group yet? I went last month and really liked it. I have to miss the one this Saturday unfortunately.

Thanks Nancie.....I have decided to go with the LapBand. So how are you feeling now that 10 days have passed?

Well the reasons that the "experts" are suggesting LapBand are: they say since I only have 120 # to lose, also I am a "fit" morbidly obese person, also I take 4 mental health meds and it would take some time to tweak them since they would be absorbed differently. I just am not convinced that LapBand will be a "strong enough tool" for me. Now with more info, what do you think?

Here is my question to you.....does the band really make you feel more satisfied? Correct me if I am wrong but I have read that after getting the band you will eat approx 1000-1200 calories/day. That is pretty much like a WW diet is so I am just REALLY hoping a band makes me feel full....otherwise is surgery really worth it?
