  1. Thanks Cloe! I had tried to do the tapping thing too, I just took some Tylonol and that seems to have taken the edge off. I'll just have to watch what I do. I went to a store last night to look around and was carring my purse on my shoulder and I think that is what really made it worse.


  2. Congrats to all the latest banders!! I was banded on the 23 and have not been very hungry. I'm hoping that will last. My incisions have not given me much trouble, more like uncomfortable rather than pain. My problem is the gas pain. I got some GasX and that made my stomach feel better. I am having gas pain in my shoulder. It started under my collarbone and then moved to my shoulder joint. I've tried everything that I have read about on here. The most comfortable I am is when I lie on the couch and put the heating pad on my shoulder. Of course I can't do that all the time. I thought moving my shoulder around might help it. but I can't tell that it has. I'll try anything to get some relief. I took pain meds the 1st night and then didn't need it after that until the gas pain got worse. Ice helps and heat helps but only as long as I am holding it on there. Once I get up and try to move around my shoulder is killing me!! I will call the Dr. office tomorrow if it doesn't get any better, but in the mean time I was hoping one of you out there might know of something I haven't tried yet.

  3. Thanks Stacey! I came back to my part time job 3 days after surgery. I answer the phone at a car dealership. I'm a little more sore today than yesterday from sitting (with my clothes on). At home I just wear a t shirt and loose pants. I'm glad school is out and I don't have to worry about that for a while. Well, another week anyway, I'm working summer school for 2 weeks. Things are going good so far. I am more hungry today, hope that isn't a trend!!


  4. I am so sorry to hear of your health problems. You are right about the physical tho. You are better off finding out about this now rather than later. You get this major problem fixed, then you can get the lap band done. You will be as good as, no, better than new. Hang in there. You know that your lap band family will be sendinggood thoughts your way. I'm in the Knoxville area and will be in Nashville next week-end for my granddaughter's 1st birthday.


  5. I never realized how fast I ate untill I started trying to slow down and take smaller bites. I have always been a big drinker at meals (TEA) 2 or 3 large glasses at least. That was the first thing I tried to cut back on. At first I could only cut back, but eventually I got to where I don't drink with my meals. Gulping down my food was the next thing I worked on. I figured I would practice before I got banded. Good luck, I know you can do it!


  6. I haven't been here for a while either. I had my band put in on Tues. 5/23/06. Everything went great, little to no pain. I have had some of that roving gas pain in my left shoulder, collarbone area. Man, that hurts! I've not been hungry until today, I had Ensure and hot tea for Breakfast and my stomach is growling. I brought chicken broth and Jello for lunch. It's hard to do liquids when I work my 2nd job. I can keep a drink with me, but the freezer and microwave are upstairs. I have to get someone to answer the phone for me to go upstairs. I was hoping that the band would keep me from getting hungry but I think it must have been just because I was swollen from surgery. Guess I'll find out in a couple of days... Hello to all the bigguns on here, me included.:grouphug: That just means we will be big loosers!! In a good way!!:clap2:

  8. I went through the same thing with my Dr. It was the last of several things that I didn't like about him. He said that I needed to be held accountable, exercise, and go on a diet. I asked him what he thought I had been doing for the last 40 years. We really disagreed about it. He even said he had suggested bypass to patients before. I don't understand why he didn't think it was for me. I changed Dr. after that. I don't need that crap I wanted support, which my new Dr. has given me. I was banded on Tues, 5/23/06 and I am thrilled so far.


  9. I didn't have a catheter either. Thank goodness! By the time they finally got me up to go, I filled up the measuring cup they had in the toilet. Phew:eek: I still can't believe how painless it was!! This is fantastic so far. I'm just afraid that when the swelling goes down, I will be hungry again.


  10. I was banded on Tues. 5/23. My surgery was at 8am and I went home about 5pm. I was suprised at how little pain there was. I have had 4 hernia operations and I thought it would be similar to that, but it wasn't. This was much less painful, more like uncomfortable than painfull. My belly is still swollen and I am belching a lot. I do have the gas pain up under my left collorbone. Sometimes it is there and sometimes is isn't...That has given me more pain than the surgery sites. I was out of the house some yesterday and the only thing that bothered me was that my bra goes right across one of my incisions. It started getting sore after a couple of hours. I'm going back to my part time job tonight. I mainly answer the phone for a car dealership. I think I will be OK with that. I do not feel very hungry yet, i don't know if that will change as the swelling goes down. I hope not. I'm trying to figure out what to take to work with me tonight to "eat". Maybe some Jello. Good luck to the Mayer's left to get banded this month. I feel like I have had a new start since Tues.

  12. I get my band on Tues.!! I'm not nervous yet just excited! I have to work my part time job all week-end and then last day of school MOn, the part time again on Mon evening. Surgery at 8:00 on Tues. moning. There isn't any time to get nervous... also no time to grocery shop. I don't have all my liquids ready to go yet. Guess I'll have to do that tomorrow after 6. I'm getting banded by Dr. Colquitt in Maryville, Tn at the Blount Memorial Hospital.

  14. I got approved by my insurance then went on vacation and when I came back I got my date. May 23,the day after school gets out here. YEA!!!! I am sooo excited. I will finally be a bandster! I am having trouble losing the weight that I am suppose to lose before surgery. I am going to try an LA Weightloss thing that my daughter got for me. It is suppose to "clean out" your system. The last time I tried something like that from the drug store, I only lost 3 lbs. I never did feel like my system got "cleaned out". I'll try this one and see if it works. I'm just afraid that my Dr. won't do the surgery if I don't lose. His nurse says that he may do that! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
