What to eat at a baseball game/work function?
jeannierk replied to mandilou's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You will be fine. Make sure you have your water and protein drinks. As the pounds drop it gets better. -
Macy's Bra Cups works great. I wear tankini top D cup. Around size 12, a medium bikini bottom with a surf shorts over them size 10 or 8 try them on. I was size 18 plus almost 3 years out 80 lbs down. Now is can fit large tops some medium. Size 6 or 8 pants. And loving my size. I'm at the beach weekly to SUP (standup paddleboard). Yes can't stand all the loose extra folds but you can hide it with clothes..And never be FAT again.

Heal first when you can eat it's no problem I eat mostly anything just very little of it. Hard to eat rice and pastas which I really miss. I keep trying, but it make me feel so filled that I choose to eat my meats and veggies. i still eat the fats. Usually not hungry. Take your time you will love losing the weight. Your body will tell you when to stop eating and some days no restrictions. What you eat today you might not be able to eat tomorrow. In the beginning I got tired of the clear broth so I made my own chicken soup, miso soup I even bought saimin (noodles) soup, sea weed soup from the chinese restaurant but don't forget to strain them just till you can eat solids. My first mushy was corn chowder from subway just couldn't eat the corn. Stick to it you will be happy and amazed how much you will pull down..

How long did you take of work?
jeannierk replied to nellie09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The soreness is not the problem it don't hurt much. It's what and what you can't eat. And how to handle that at work. I eat lunch with 5 others. I had to learn and prepare my meals. Especially on liquids. Being home was so much easier for my mind and body. Aloha! -
How long did you take of work?
jeannierk replied to nellie09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was ready to go back to work but didn't and I'm glad I did. Take care and be careful. I stayed home two weeks got adjusted to meals and soreness. You can still move around with no problem. I learned what to eat at work the second week was on mushies. I wasn't sure how I would do once I started more solid food. It helped me out to wait it out. Good Luck -

Very discouraged! 9 months post op and 50lbs lost.
jeannierk replied to kjhack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry everyone lose differently. I my self think I'm doing really slow. But I think how I eat and really not to much exercise, and still losing. I even ate an hershey almond every night for the last two months. I eat so much less than before. So I cheat on Hershey's. Well I finally stop doing that. Now back on tract and started to lose again. I always lost but I was losing 7 lbs. a month. Than 10 lbs. in two months. 2 lbs in a month. I got a fill and don't crave my candy anymore, and lost 3 lbs in three days. Oh yeah I'm walking and swimming again. Good luck what you can eat today might not go down tomorrow. It's okay. I love the weight lost and the new clothes I had to buy. I fast moved from 2X tops and 18w pants. to xl - 16 tops, and size 10-12 regular bottoms. Everyone says how great I look. I'm looking forward to dropping more and to get more healthy. My surgery date was 8/27/2008. -

im having a change of heart on having the lapband
jeannierk replied to kaytyrma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
great daddydo, a friend was on insulin since the lap band she no longer do any insulin...good luck -
I try to eat anything. If it goes down i'm okay with it. I tried pizza only can eat the toppings. Candy goes down easy. Starbuck latte once a week. (bad) Meats really easy just chew, chew, chew. You just can't eat much. What I found at the chinese resturant that go down easy is steam fish and mapo tofu. Taste great. I still order sushi but found out I can only eat the top no rice. Waste money. I stop doing that. But I do miss it. Remember protein first then veggies and if you have room starch or fruits. Usually no room. Good Luck

Dr. Carlos Weber Md - I'll start
jeannierk replied to volcano lady's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Volcano lady, Finally I found someone who have Dr. Weber. I also have him. And I do love him. My surgery was on Aug.27, 2008. I'm doing great. I'm down so many sizes. I was 18w. 2x tops. Now regular size 12 pants, xl tops. Down to 1 medication from 3 for high blood pressure. Not diabetic I was surely border line. Dr. Latore said I was probably diabetic on a regular day. I still have a hard time with eating. Some days no problem. And some oh well you must know...Can't hold down rice and noodles. Let me know how you are doing. -
Good Luck to you Koinoi, give me update on how you are doing? 7 mo. now down 48 lbs. and loving every lb. that I lose. I do eat whatever but really small amounts. Well not whatever what ever I can hold. No more rice, or bread. I was a size 18w now I'm a miss 12 still losing. I try rice and bread but can't seem to hold it down. Still learning and trying to eat the right things. But living in Hawaii is really hard on you. All these good fast food places, Just always remember protein first, veggies next and if you got room go for fruit and maybe starch. After protein and veggies no room for anything else. LOL :cool2: Talk to you later. Keep up the good work. Oh yeah I love chicken soup I eat alot of that. Chicken with squash and wakami (seaweed) boil chicken, skim out fat, add onion and fresh tomato, add ginger, sea salt for flavor. Add squash last 15 min. throw dry wakami in. :tongue2:This is when you can eat solids. I made the soup w/chicken when I was on liquids. Boiling your own chicken got more flavor. Good luck again.

Did anyone have restriction after 1st fill?
jeannierk replied to klutzyazhel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are losing 1 to 2 lbs. a week my Dr. will not give me a fill. I got one this month because I felt I was eating to much. Still less than what I use to eat. He said no fill next month if I lose 7 or more pounds. I go in for a check up every 4 weeks. I do love my band. -

Water Consumption
jeannierk replied to Southern Charmer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told don't drink 1/2 hr. before, during and 1/2 hr. after eating. I do have a hard time not drinking with meals sometimes I would take a sip. But a no, no. 64 oz. a day includes all liquids you drink in meal. Protein for hair loss I'm supposed to have 75grams daily not sure if I do it. I lost little hair. -
A question on after the lap Band Surgery
jeannierk replied to EmmaWang's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Do what you think it is best for you. The Dr. left it up to me. I chose Lap Band. And I'm glad I did it. No regrets. I'm going to be 5 mo. out in 2 days. Already lost 41 lbs. I thought it was slow but my Dr. says I'm doing really great. I lose now 6.5 - 7 lbs a month. My inches is sure down sizing. Started out size 18w-20w, 16w tight. 5 months later I'm a regular 14 jeans. So happy. You can do it also. Still learning what I can and not eat. But sure eating way less. I don't count calories, just portion control. Protein and Vegetables. I try to eat and do try anything. when I exercise that is when I lose more. Good Luck to you. Jeannie -
