  3. HI there, I live in Bolton, just south of Barrie, good luck with your surgery! I was banded in on May 26, 2008. So far so good, but haven't found any support groups as of yet. I don't mind getting together in Barrie or Newmarket....let me know. Thank you.

My PB from H E double Hockey Stick

I think this happened to me last night. But I don't understand?? I haven't even had my first fill yet, it will be this Wednesday. I was eating chicken thigh and I must of bit off a little too much and all of a sudden I felt this tightness in my chest and a feeling that it just wasn't going down. Finally, I stuck a few fingers in my mouth and it came back out....was I choking? This has never happend to me before in my life! I was really scared!!

    Any Canadians Out There??

First question I have, are you staying there overnight? I had one overnight stay at the hospital, and I was in alot of pain thank goodness for morphine in the hospital and demerol when I left the next day. I was on demerol for about 5 days, but everyone is different, so you may be able or not be able to see the sights, depending on how you feel. I have about 85 pounds to loose to get to a normal weight for my height, so I'm looking forward to my first fill, so we can actually put the band in use. If your not from Ontario, who's going to do your fills?

    Any Canadians Out There??

What's Optifast? Does it cost money or is it included in the price? My pre-op diet was for 10 days, and all I could eat was yogurt (with no chunks), milk, cottage cheese and 1 piece of Protein like lean chicken, fish and turkey....I hated it. I paid $15,000 for my surgery, and it's life long visits. I guess everywhere you go is different.

    Any Canadians Out There??

I've lost 19 pounds so far since starting my pre-op diet exactly a month ago. No, $15,000 covers life-time fills and visits. He actually charges $16000, but my husband was going to get it done as well, before he changed his mind, but he still charged me $15,000. He's an amazing doctor.

    Any Canadians Out There??

Hi Leslie, I'm from Toronto, and just got banded on May 26th. My doctor was Dr. Joffe @ Scarborough Grace hospital. As like you I payed or should I say we paid (myself and my husband) for the surgery. WE paid $15,000 for the surgery, I believe when I phoned the TLBC they wanted a little more, but my first choice was Dr. Joffe, anyway, because I had seen him in 2001 for the same reason. How much are you paying? I have my first fill next Wednesday, so I'm a little excited, as right now I'm still in the healing process and I've been hungry. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, and it's really exciting isn't it!

    Returning to work!?!?

My doctor told me that it would be a 1 week recovery, so I took 1 week vacation from work, but let me tell you, if I could stay home another week I would of. I was in pain the second week as well, especially in the port area. I have a sitting down job too, but for some reason I felt better when I stood up and walked.
  11. Hi everyone, I was banded just last month, therefore I'm still in the healing process and without a fill as of yet. Let me tell you, the hunger has not stopped, so I'm trying desperately not to eat too much. I'm just looking forward to my first fill, hopefully it will make a difference.

    Banded May 26, 2008

Oh my goodness....the first week for me was just liquids, 2nd was cream, 3rd week was puree and this week, thank god is my transition to solids. I've never heard of liquids for 4 weeks, sounds really unhealthy. Where did you get the band?

Thank you....I have to admit I'm really looking forward to my first fill, but I'm a little nervous, I keep thinking what if it doesn't work for me, and we spend all this money?

The surgery was done at Scarborough Grace hospital. I didn't realize he was part of the TLBC, as the first time I saw him was in 2001 he was doing surgery there as well.
