    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

We have lived a lot of places, but PA is our home. But where I am going for my pain dr. Is primarily Osteopathic, and I think they are more therapy and basic in their medicine practice. I will call around tomorrow, after I hear from my family dr. , and see what I can find out. Years ago the medicines I took for this did the job, but now I’m getting more arthritis in my spine that’s messin with the nerves going down my legs as well as my lower back. I need to find someone who will help me, you’re right! Thanks so much, Lanie!

Thanks so much for the support! They make me feel like an addict!!! I really don’t expect my family dr to do any better, but she did give me an extra script after my surgery, so there is hope. All I’m asking for is to have one low dose pill a day for the next 17 days! What state are you in? I think our state is soooo paranoid and legalistic! I am sorry you have to go thru all that for your pain. But at least they are keeping updated as to your progress, or no progress.

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

My pain dr. says they don’t prescribe addicting drugs (couldn’t think of his term) and I should call my family dr and see if she would. Didn’t talk directly to him, but thru the office staff. Soooo, I called my family dr. , and the nurse said she would list this as high priority for my family dr., and someone would either call me to schedule a video visit, or maybe the dr. Would just call me. pits time for them to close and no one got back to me. I have 4 pills left.... I can’t go in to the office because of being exposed to Covid.

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

The pain dr. is who I’m waiting for my ablation(nerve burn) from on January 22nd. I’m hoping he will give me Percocet as well, but drs. Are afraid of getting sued these days for making addicts of us all. I had some OLD pills that were 30-325, and some that were 5-325. I had the stronger ones left from kidney stones. I’m gonna call today. I took one 5-325 along with another 325 Tylenol last night and it was the first I had ANY RELIEF FOR AGES.

I must have a different iPad, or iPhone? Version, cuz I get to mysurgery and there is only 2 categories with it, and trackers isn’t one of them. Maybe I am using a different system, being Apple it’s IOS . I even tried it on my iPhone, both by the website, and the BariatricPal app. Neither has the tracker. But thanks for giving me that info. Maybe I need to go on the main computer to get it.

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

It was changed to Jan. 22 ......almost a month later! I was originally supposed to have it BEFORE my WLS, but I was afraid Medicare might not cover both surgeries so close together, and WLS seemed more important to me, thinking as I started losing weight it might take pressure off those nerves, but it hasn’t. In fact it actually seems worse......

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

It’s a nerve burn in my back that will stop the pain in my lower back and down my legs, on both sides, although my left side is worse than the right. I haven’t asked about pain meds yet. I still have some Tylenol with codeine left from my gastric bypass I’ve been hanging on to . I had been on Celebrex before my GP, but had to go off because of it being an NSAID. So my lower back nerves have really gotten agitated in the last 2 months. Thank you for asking. I afraid they won’t give it to me if I ask for something stronger. I’m taking cyclobenzaprine but it only makes me tired and doesn’t help with the pain.

How did you find the graph for your weightloss that you have when you respond? I couldn’t figure out how to load it onto my file.

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

Yes, I called about it this morning, and if I do not get COVID, I can get my ablation Jan. 22. I’m just a bit down in the dumps about having to put up with this pain especially at bedtime and all night long. I can’t get comfortable no matter what position I’m in.

Lost my famous 1 lbs week ! My husband has Covid, and I’m just waiting! ootger than that it was an uneventful Christmas! Lol
  13. Is the Ensure in addition to all your vitamin supplements? I sometimes have nausea, but only threw up once. But my nausea isn’t 24/7 or anything like that. Has the advice of the nutrition helped you a lot? Which Ensure do you drink?
  14. Thanks for your input. I wouldn’t want to undo this operation, but I’ll certainly be interested to see how this all plays out over time. Congratulations on all your weightloss!! You are an awesome example of how to go about it!!! How long did it take for you to meet your goal? I’m going very slowly right now. Had started at 4 lbs. a week for 3 weeks or so, and went down to 2 then 1 for the last couple weeks. I struggle so much with getting water and protein. Now that I’m on regular food I don’t drink those stinkin high protein shakes anymore, and I know that’s probably a lot of it, but I’m not hungry most of the time. I know my taste has changed. But if I can keep losing at least 1 pound a week I’ll get there........just slower...... YOU ROCK!
  15. Well, I’m so sorry that has happened to you, I’m sure that was/is frustrating and expensive on top of the life changes you’ve had with the WLS. Are you still taking all your supplements you took right after surgery? I know some have opted to just take a regular or even children’s chewable vitamins, but I’d hate to take the chance. There have been a few who say they have had severe teeth problems since their surgery, so you are not alone, but thankfully it doesn’t seem to be a big problem. I’m going to ask about it when I go to my family dr and the Bariatric dr again in January.
  16. I can understand the stomach acid causing teeth problems - did you have GERD issues before the surgery? I have had gerd issues for years before my gastric bypass, as well as dry mouth from my medications. Since my surgery I have no trouble with GERD at all, and was recommended bypass over the sleeve just because of my problems with GERD. So I still don’t see how the teeth issue is from Gastric Bypass. I can’t believe how much better I feel when I go to bed without having to sit up to sleep! And my teeth are getting mighty old, and need some crowns, so it will be interesting to see if they start decaying at a faster rate. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s hormone related??
  17. Thank you so much for responding!! I really appreciate that and it helps me think that it is probably other issues involved with her. Thanks again!

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I am 7 weeks RNY ...My weightloss has definitely slowed down the last 3 weeks. 1 lb. each week for the last 3 weeks. I have not been so fortunate to get all my requirements in. I try, but it’s just too much for me, but I still aim at the goals. Just fall short..... I also think these stalls are common from what I’m hearing. Depending on how much exercising you’re doing, maybe ease up a bit. But I don’t know what your weight was to start. I know mine was less than a lot of others who had a lot more to lose, so I’m thinking the closer to the goal the harder it is to come off. I was 209, I’m 68, and I lead a fairly sedentary lifestyle, some because of knee and back problems. I know another thing that hinders weightloss is depression and pain meds and blood pressure meds too. There’s a lot that can affect it besides food. Talk to your family dr about your meds, if this may be your case. Don’t go off anything without checking with them first. But I’m on the losing side still, so I’m counting my blessings! Keep up your good food goals! You’re doing much better than me, there. It will work out. I just looked at your stats - you were 20 lbs. less than me, so I imagine you will not lose an amazing amount so quickly. You don’t have as much body fat. But again, medicines can play a big role, so talk to your family dr if you’re on any of those. You’re doing all the right things, so keep up the great work!

I’ve also had nerve blocks in my back. I was hoping when I lost weight that it wouldn’t hurt so much but it has gotten worse going down my leg and below my knee. So on Dec. 30 I am having nerve burning on both sides of my back, and that is SUPPOSED TO LAST LONGER than the steroid shots. I had been getting them for years. I hope and pray it works. And I hope yours works for you as well.it’s called Ablation if you want to ask your dr about it.

It’s very possible it’s the Percocet that is too much for your small pouch. I know it can have that affect in a normal person, so it may be worth a phone call to your doctor and seeing what he says about it. I definitely think you should call. He needs to know.
