    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I haven’t been on Celebrex since my surgery, and I was really missing it! I still have inflammation in my lower back, and my knee joint, but yes, I’m off inflammatory medicines. Hoping to go off blood pressure medicine, but I started having SVT’s about a year or so ago, and the medicine for that also helps manage my blood pressure as well, so I may not get off that for awhile. The main things I’m on now is all these supplements, multi, B1, B12, Biotin, fiber, stool softener, magnesium, potatassium., and finally probiotic. Oh yeah , pantoprazole for acid reflux, but the dr. said that’s good...........guess this is my new life, right? I can live with it....🙃 It’s expensive to buy all these supplements... Thanks for asking tho - I think you got more info than you bargained for! Lol

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

Awww thank you for remembering! Yes I did, I must say the pain going down my leg is gone, although I still have pain in my knee, but I knew it wouldn’t take care of that. I may just see about getting Visco (?) shots in that knee joint. Oh my gosh what an experience it was! I felt like I was being electrocuted when I got the first set on each side of my spine. But that was to make sure they were hitting the right nerve and that the machine was fully warmed up! But after those two initial jolts on each side the others were much milder. I will prolly need it done once a year?? They say it lasts about that long before the nerves grow back. But who knows, maybe longer! But I won’t be afraid of it now I know what it’s like.

I agree with True North, and congrats on your weightloss! You re moving right along. I am moving slower, but in the right direction.lol and I’m prolly a lot older. It’s all good, as they say. I’m just glad I am learning to stop eating before I eat too much and keeping my portion sizes at 1/2 cup. As for your blood work, this really bothers me that you have to wait 6 mos. before they request bloodwork. (Bariatric, I mean) that is way to long to have to wait to find out what’s going on. I’m so glad your PCP requested it for you! I hope my PCP will do that when I go back. I won’t be getting it done for Bariatric til MAY! Hope you get normal results from your blood work tomorrow. Keep up the great work! AWESOME!

Great job!! Keep up the good work! Sometimes doing something different for a day or two might trigger it. Hope you continue to keep knocking off those pounds!

    The dreaded stalls.... Help

I had my surgery Nov. 4....first few weeks were 4 lbs. a week. Then all the sudden it slowed to 1 lb. a week for several weeks. At first I was upset, then I realized, I’m sSTILL losing, just slower and maybe this was the way it was gonna work with me. I also had not been getting my protein and water in and was trying foods outside the plan. Then 2 weeks ago I stalled and stayed at the weight from the week before! So I went back to eating more of what I should be , and this week I lost 3 lbs!! Soooo, we’ll see what happens next week, but I’m so glad that worked. I’m a renegade I guess, but I can tow the line if I have to, I guess. I still don’t get all my protein in and I’m probably not getting all my water in either, but I have been trying harder.
  7. This was taken 3 mos. maybe before my surgery, Nov. 4.

I feel like you do Lanie, and I’ll be anxious to get my blood work done for my 3 month checkup to see how I’m fairing. I got so frustrated with the protein, constipation, and I too have adjusted my diet. That’s the big reason why I want my blood work done. I’m feeling fine, the pressure to “perform” is off, and I’m trying new things. I know my taste has changed quite a bit, too, which some things I used to LOVE don’t have much draw anymore. And I’m thankful for that. I think I’ll do okay with this lifestyle change. My supplements will hopefully make up for what I may be missing. Next month will tell.

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I have had one episode of throwing up, and it was about 3 weeks after my November 4 surgery. I’m not sure why, but it only happened once, and I’ve been more careful since. I have never had a problem with diarrhea, and was told that’s what dumping is, stomach upset and painful . I may have just eaten more than I should have....not sure, but I’ve watched it more carefully since then, taking a break from eating my food to maybe see if I’m getting full and not realizing it. Maybe you could aim for the satisfied feeling instead of full, but if you stop midways and give it a couple minutes, you may stop sooner because you just may not want anything more. I sometimes do get hungry, but not always. I just recently started getting back into drinking part of a protein shake in between, just to get more protein in, because I am way behind in what they recommend. I like your reference to the barbaric clinic! Lol I feel like that sometimes trying to jump thru all their hoops.....lol i am happy with my weightloss, even though it’s slowed down quite a bit from the results at the very beginning. I am averaging about 1-1/2 lbs a week which prolly if I ate more according to regimen I would lose more, but maybe not. I am so thankful to be on regular food now, and I’m learning about what my body needs and my mind wants. A lot of head hunger, only to get it and find it’s not as satisfying as I remembered before surgery, so I know my tastes have changed. We have gone out to eat several times, and I always have enough leftovers for several more meals, if I want it that many times!! Lol But it feels good to go out again. Some foods go better than others. I have a problem that most times I don’t have any strong feeling as to what I’d like to eat. After a few bites I’m done! Not cuz I’m full but because I just don’t want it anymore.
  10. Congratulations!! I’m excited for you!

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

Hi Lynne, RNY/GB or any weightloss surgery is a serious operation, and I don’t know your age, but I’m 69 (next month) and I had it done so I could not only lose weight, but get off some medicines, not have sleep apnea anymore, and stop eating when I’m full, maneuver around better, look better in my clothes, and be able to TRY harder to keep up with our 3 little grandkids! I have only gotten nauseated one time that I had to throw up, and I think I just wasn’t watching myself close enough. I do not regret getting it done. My weightloss is slower than a lot, but I’m eating more of what I like, just less of it. I figure I want to die eating what I like in life. But a younger person has a lot more different things to deal with than me. And maybe the way I’m doing it won’t work either, but I’m going to stick with eating what I’m comfortable with. I may not be able to hit my goal, but I’m still losing, and I’m happy with that.

No, but I’ve had bread since then. I think something might have gotten stuck somewhere, and just didn’t sit right. I had felt sorta nauseas half the day, but don’t remember what all I had that day or evening. I haven’t had any problems with anything I’ve eaten except that day. also, I’m trying to get my ticker up and running, but I get this message saying it hasn’t been rendered yet.....or something like that.....what do I need to do to get it out there? Yours looks so perty!🥰

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I had no problems, but a couple weeks ago I guess I had what you call dumping syndrome. And like you I was scared to death. I had a Bariatric friend to call and text, and she was very helpful. After awhile I lit had gotten worse and I ended up throwing up. I thot I would be miserable all night, and slept with a garbage can beside the bed, but I went off to sleep and in the morning I felt fine. But I was afraid of hurting my insides. I don’t ever want to do it again, and I expected diarrhea but nothing more happened from it so I’m thankful.

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

Wow!! You are creative!! I seem to remember a recipe for a cabbage soup for weight loss years ago, and that was what you had at least 2 meals a day and then a regular meal for dinner. But that was a long time ago. But that sounds great!! But I’m still working on my pork & sauerkraut from yesterday!😂😍

And yes, sugar pills can work, and the sugar would be a plus! Lol I’ll let you know. I was soooo frustrated that my pain management dr wouldn’t prescribe it for me. Seems like a contradiction of his oath. I don’t know if it’s because he is osteopathic or not, but I would think he would consider a wide range of medicines to help with pain, especially in a temporary situation of waiting for the surgery! I felt like I was being treated like I had a drug problem! anyways, it’s done now, I have enuf to last at one a day til Jan. 21st. Thanks for your encouragement. do you have a date for your surgery?

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I believe my weightloss will NOT be weightLOSS but instead WEIGHTGAIN! With my hubby going thru Covid, and me not sleeping well with his cpap noises, I decided to let loose and eat what I wanted over this holiday week. We couldn’t get out being quarantined, but did go thru a McD’s drive thru...... and that wasn’t all by far. It wasn’t how much I ate as it was WHAT I ate. I prolly sabotaged myself, but I needed it. If all goes well he goes back to work Monday for half a day, and we’ll see how he handles it. I feel like being locked up with him all week IVE HAD COVID! Lol

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

Just wanted to let you know, my PCP was called in to work at the hospital because of the Covid, so I was struggling to work with a dr. Who doesn’t know me from Adam. After a few desperate phone calls SHE PRESCRIBED ME THE MEDICINE! I took my last old pill last night, and I’m kinda worried about starting the new ones tonight because I’m afraid she gave me sugar pills just to get me off her back!! Lol tonite will tell!

I eat salad, and I’ve had no problems with it, but I don’t put anything fancy in it. Just chew well. I like spinach salad, with baby spinach. That has some protein in it I believe. And it’s sweet and not bitter.
