I manage 8 people and I just told them why I was taking time off. I wear my heart on my sleeve in most cases anyway. Everyone was really supportive. They told me they were glad I was doing something for myself, which was nice to hear.

I had mine on 12/7 so I'm still in Phase I of post-op diet. I have only had water, protein shakes, and jello too. I am experiencing the same pain as you. Its really the only discomfort I have. Prior to op I had started to be able to discern head from stomach hunger, but that has gotten harder since op. I generally feel hungry most of the time and I am thinking it is in my head due to the new stomach, but it doesnt feel quite the same that head hunger did pre-op. The most pronounced change Ive experienced is total lack of energy, which started pre-op. I used to have some energy but would easily become sleepy. It has reversed. Now I go all day with my energy level so low I can feel it in my muscles and bones, but am alert at 11pm or midnight and am no longer dozing off or napping with the kids. Anyone else with these experiences?

It is extremely hard. Try eating some crushed ice. Good luck!

Thanks! Yesterday after breakfast I was not even hungry the whole rest of the day, though I made myself eat some cottage cheese and broccoli for dinner. I am trying to discern between the head hunger, which I have frequently, and true hunger. Didnt have the true hunger yesterday.

Lucky. I cannot have it for 6 weeks. Hopefully this was more a result of calorie restriction. The more days go by the more energy I have. Still at about 50%.

Thanks everyone. I just started B12 a couple days ago.

Good luck to you too!

Good luck! You'll do great.

Hey everyone. I’ve been on the diet for five days. It consists of a protein shake for breakfast, 3 oz lean protein and 1/2 C cottage cheese at lunch and dinner. I’m allowed one vegetable and fruit per day. No caffeine. The first three days were hell. Not because of the food restrictions but I think because caffeine restriction. On second and third days it took all my effort just to stay awake. On the fourth day the dr said I could have a small coffee each day for the remaining 7 days of the diet as long as I weaned myself off. Of course that helped. A lot. The next day, day five, I felt very alert. Enough so I had no coffee at all. Today, on day six, the low energy returned. And though better than day two and three, i couldn’t function without so I had half a cup of coffee. It’s not shocking to me that I am fatigued on this diet, be it from the restricted calories or the caffeine. What surprises me is the pattern and intensity. Has anyone else experienced an alternating day pattern of energy levels? If so was that due to caffeine withdrawal or calorie restriction in your case? Did it improve after surgery? I’m worried I will not be able to function after surgery when I cannot have any caffeine at all for a minimum of six weeks.

I agree. Kudos to you for being self aware enough to realize you have an addiction and need help. Half of the work is in gaining the awareness. Good luck to you. -
One protein shake for breakfast, 1/2 c cottage cheese and 3 oz fat free turkey for lunch and dinner. No caffeine. Can have a few veggies like broccoli, cauliflower and cucumber. I can also have broth. 10 days and this is day 3.

Thanks. I appreciate that.

How is everyone doing on pre-op diet? I am three days in and it has been really rough. Absolutely no energy.
