    pain

I too was banded in June. I had no pain for quit a while and then bang it happened. Same with the vomiting. Both not too often. I have found that if you over eat (more than 1 cup total at any meal) or do not chew properly the pain happens. Sometimes my chest sometimes my shoulder. But if you really make the effort to chew to a pulp and not over eat you probably won't have much if any pain. I have lost about 26 lbs. slower than I would have liked to have seen but I can't walk just yet as I just have had surgery. For the last couple of years my excercise has been restricted. I did hear that the obvious...excercise makes the big difference. After physio I too hope to be able to excercise more and show faster results. I'm not disappointed as the more I read the more I see how everyone's rate is different. Good luck!

    Done today!

My doc is Dr. Woodhead and I think he is really good. My weight loss has been slow since banding in June but he just did my 2nd fill and did 1 and a half so I'm hoping it will help more. What type of knee surgery did you have? I'm waiting for my 3rd knee replacement since the first two were botched and I'm in my 50's. I can't do much in the way of excercises but I'm think of getting WII fit. Good luck!

How Much Have You Lost So Far?

Way to go. Stick with it. I lost 16lb pre-op, but did weigh myself the day after my surgery 11jun08 and noticed that I was 10 lbs heavier than the morning before. I thought maybe it was the CO2?? Don't know...but now 8 days alter I'm down those 10 and another 2. I 'm following the advice of my surgeon for diet. First 4days after surgery just Clear Liquids, then 10 days of full liquids (Just finished day 4 of this one) then the mushy stage for two weeks and then slowly introducing the solids back in to the diet. Apparently this helps your body adjust to having something foreign in it and allows an adjustment period. No vomitting and hardly any pain at all unlike a friend who did quite a bit of vomitting and pain but did not follow this diet. So I think I will stick what my doc recommended. Just thought I'd share.
  7. I was banded last Wednesday the 11th June and realize after reading so many of your introductions etc. how different we all have been treated. For two weeks prior to surger I was instructed to have only 1000 calories a day so that I could lose some weight and shrink my liver. I lost 16 lbs. If only I could have done this without the surgery. I know after years of the yo-yo plan that I had to do this for me. I was really excited the night before because this surgery is the first thing I have done for myself in over 20 years...but that is another story. I'm so looking forward to getting my life back. My day in surgery went well. There at 6:30am and out by 5PM. Not sick once. But by nightime my belly was swelling big time and I just kept belching little ones. Having a bowel movement two days later was wonderful as it helped ease my back pain a bit. My diet for the first full four days at home were nothing but Clear liquids. I've just started full liquids which allow strained creamed Soups, pudding or yogurt now added but all at 1/4 cup at a time. I'm a little hungry even after my pm snack of the above pudding, yogurt or Jello but am determined to not cheat and stick to the plan. My belly is still sore but I know that will end soon. I'm still swollen a little and know it will end soon too. I'm sure glad that this site was started. It's nice to know how others taking the same leap are doing. Till next time
