In my experience, I have never seen an active duty person get any sort of WLS because then it *may* affect your deployability but, he'd have to ask his PCM. -

Going to six flags...Question
thatDEgirl replied to liquidbluegal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd really be careful, I tore scar tissue in my tummy near my port, turning over in bed at 3 weeks post-op. -
My drinking is 30 before and 30 after, even for snacks. I am allowed 1-2 snacks a day. Going to long between meals, slows down metabolism.

How many bandings has your doctor done?
thatDEgirl replied to Cleo's Mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While my surgeon has done MANY, any surgeon that is realize or AP (lap band brands) certified, has to go through lots of training. -
My guess would be your water intake is not high enough or your fat intake is too low.

thatDEgirl replied to Twilight's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

Shh.. Can you keep a secret??
thatDEgirl replied to jenz75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You have to make that decision based on your situtation. I told several people that I work with. I work at a church, so they are constantly praying for you and honestly concerned about your well being. That is support I need(ed). -

I have PCOS and was banded 4 weeks ago. I had my cycle right before my surgery and I take the pill 3 packs in a row to only have 4 cycles a year so I *should* be no where near cycle time. Guess what, I am bleeding. Not a full cycle but heavy spotting. I plan to ask my doc about it tomorrow. -

Tricare *may* let you change the doc on the referral (I've never tried) but they won't let you pick on that is not a network dr. Then you will go for a consult with the surgeon, nut eval and pysch eval, then the surgery gets submitted for approval...which may be yes or no depending on the whole package.
