I think that if your are comfortable enough for him to see your belly should be able to tell him about your surgery. However, you could always say it was a hernia or gallbladder surgery - the scars are almost identical!!

am I too tight or is this right finally?
jennup replied to fivebyfive's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had too tight of a fill a couple of weeks ago. I did give it a week and a half to see if things would work out, but it didn't. I could only get liquids down - anything else hurt or came back up. I had a little taken out and feel great! The good thing about being too tight is that I lost 9 pounds! -
Is 23 years old to young to get lapband?
jennup replied to guy221985's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am with everyone else, 23 is not too young! Good for you for getting control of your weight at such a young age! I wish I would have done it when I was younger myself, then I wouldn't have so much to loose!! -
I had to have my port revised after it flipped. I wasn't as far out as you - only about 3 months. Two fills and a slight unfill later, things are working great!

I had to do Optifast for 2 weeks also. It really wasn't as bad as I thought. I really liked the Vanilla. I would add some sugar-free instant coffee to it to change it up a bit. You do learn to appreciate food during this time. I remember how good things tasted, which I hadn't realized in years! Good luck!

Had 3rd fill four days ago...today, I'm having problems.
jennup replied to Cheryl Ann's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so glad you posted this! I am having very similar problems since my 3rd fill. I have decided to go get a slight unfill since reading everyone's responses to your problems. As far as how big of a bite to take, I am curious about the same thing. It seems like since this last fill it didn't matter how tiny the bite was, or how much I chewed, it wasn't going anywhere! -
I am also a teacher and know exactly what you mean about being zapped by the end of the day!! I was banded on January 8 and returned to work on the 11th! This surgery was a breeze for me. Good luck with your surgery and recovery!

It's nice to "meet" all of you fellow Mississippians! Good luck to all of you. I hope to see you around the boards!:biggrin2:

Hello all! I was banded on January 8 by Dr. Matthew French in Louisiana. So far I've lost 55 pounds. I currently have 5ccs in my 10cc band. It is a little tight, but I am using it in my advantage to loose weight! I am so happy to have the band and to have found a positive group to share this experience with!

When I went for my 2nd fill back in March, my port had flipped! I have no idea when, why, or how! The NP went to stick the needle into my port only to hear the tapping sound of the needle hitting the metal back of the port! I had it fixed the following week with no problems since! Good luck to you guys!

Help finding a surgeon in Mississippi for self-pay
jennup replied to lolli's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was also banded at Southern Surgical in Slidell. Dr. Matthew Frencs was my doctor. The total cost is $13500, like the pp said - for everything including fills for a year. I do not think you have to have any co-morbidities (sp?). The facility is so nice and the nurses and staff are great!
