The ones that really bother me are the "SLAPAHO" stickers. I'm not really sure what it really means, but it just doesn't sound right.

Hey what an idea! Thanks for the tip :girl_hug:

This is unbelievable! I would have a real problem with that. My dad already got my 5 year old saying, "Dod-gamit!" get it? haha >:girl_hug: If he turned him onto coffee I think I would have to say something to him.

Hi there, I can complete really relate to you... I was put on Clear Liquids for 14 days, but around the 10th day I decided to have one meal of thick liquids, namely some soup, just to see what happened. It was fine, and from then I ate a few thick liquids but had some clear too. I've been doing so well my doctor put me on mushies a week early. Every doctor seems to have their own idea of the post op diet. I've heard of people only being on clear liquids for three days before moving to thick. It is doubtful that anything is seriously wrong since you are feeling well, but I would try to limit the mushies until I at least get to the doctor's recommended time for thick liquids. I have never heard this before and this is not how the procedure was explained to me... can anyone else verify this? sorry.. :cry

I never did figure this out in 8th grade and I prolly never will. I know the difference between "your" and "you're" though One of biggest pet peeves- Chrome bumpers. I don't need to see anything but the reflection of my own headlights, thanks so much!! :heh: Biggest marriage pet peeve- I say something to my husband and he doesn't say ANYTHING. And I mean saying something that most people would respond to. Then he changes the subject.

Keeping it secret - what excuse did you use at work?
Davyna replied to TerriDoodle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My work was tipped off when they asked me for a doctor's note... the note my doctor's office gave me had "GASTRIC BAND SPECIALISTS" written in bold letters across the top. :tired I told my former mother-in-law I was just "having surgery." Granted, I've known her for about 15 years and I talk to her every week because of my son, she is my FORMER mother-in-law and I just didn't WANT to tell her. She actually had the nerve to tell my mother IN FRONT OF ME that she was "INSULTED" that I didn't tell her what kind of surgery. So for some people, telling them that you're having surgery apparently just isn't enough of an answer for them, and they are going to ask questions. If I had to do it all over again, I would have told people I was having surgery to correct a "female" problem. They probably wouldn't have asked any questions about that. -
I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to ask everyone to use Lap Band Talk a little less

I just made another email account to hold all those blasted emails lol -
There are a few people on here who found a dr to band them with a lower BMI based on the idea that it is a preventative measure, as you were stating. I think a dr in Mexico would be willing to do it, but I can't remember the name. Sorry I'm not much help but I do think there is hope!

Im a mess, I cant stop crying, Please help me
Davyna replied to hotpink_bubbles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow this really does make your healing process so much harder. I can tell you I was really moody and somewhat sad for about a week after the surgery, and I think it had to do with all the drugs, meds and the shock to the system that surgery is. As for getting over the breakup... there is a book you should read. This book helped me get over my first marriage. It's called "Exorcising Your Ex" by Elizabeth Kuster. It's a very insightful and humorous book! Here's a link to it... [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Exorcising-Your-Ex-Demons-Relationships/dp/068480302X/ref=sr_1_2/002-1350237-8920825?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1174516668&sr=1-2]Amazon.com: Exorcising Your Ex: How to Get Rid of the Demons of Relationships Past: Elizabeth Kuster: Books[/ame] Besides that, keep yourself busy. Walk a lot. Keep your friends close and have them walk with you. I strongly recommend keeping a journal. Someday when you are over this difficult time, you can look back on it with the journal, and you will be surprised what you think then. Only you can make a true assessment of whether or not this was a healthy relationship you had with Sin. Despite whether or not it could have all been fixed. If it wasn't healthy, this may be the best thing for you right now. You are making a lot of changes in your life so that you can have a better life. Good luck to you. -

Thanks Spydr. You and I both live in the same area so maybe I could get the same anastesiologist to do me -
You Asked for It! Plastic Surgery Pictures

GULP! :paranoid Your before pics of your breasts look a lot like mine do now. I know I have to get this done but dang! it looks so painful. And the drain tubes, eeee gad! I admit I'm scared. Did you have to have a catheter after surgery? I hate those things :tired -
God I'm so scared of the TT and the breast lift but I know they are in my future... cry!!!! So yes I would like to see the pics, but I am really more interested in a verbal description from you as to how much it hurt and how long your recovery took.

Getting home after surgery..
Davyna replied to famouslastwords's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slept for a while but I also did some slow walking around the house. I could not sleep all the way through the nite the first few nites because the pain med would wear off. -
Same here! I hope I can eat this again. In fact I'm planning on eating it between the time I'm on solids and my first fill. Just in case!

Post op relationship with food
Davyna replied to Lily's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have been thinking a lot lately about what's going to happen when I can eat solids again. Since I have no restriction until my first fill, can't I eat any solid I want? The problem is, I'm craving all those bad things that I used to eat that I can't now! I want to eat them all again before I get a fill and maybe won't be able to eat them anymore (like pizza, bread etc). I'm afraid I'm going to undo the hard work I've done so far by eating every last thing on this mental craving list that I've been working on.... -
Smoking and Lap Banding
Davyna replied to Daisalana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc made no mention to me of stopping smoking before surgery (to be honest though I only smoked about 3-5 cigs a day, not a heavy smoker). My nutritionist wanted me to give it up right away because it removes oxygen from your body (hence why it may hinder healing). I smoked until the day of my surgery, no cigs before surgery. I have been smoke-free for two weeks now. I didn't want one while I was busy recuperating, and I've healed just fine. I've been craving one for the past couple of days, but it's such a vile habit that I really don't want to pick it up again. So I'm just trying to stay away from it.... :paranoid -
I was told nothing over 20. Maybe you can handle it after that first week!
-
Oh I see the problem now! How much does the baby weigh? It's going to be hard to lift her for at least a week. You said your hubby can cover till 3/26, I would probably plan on a babysitter for a few days after that, just to give yourself time to recover enough. You should probably ask your doctor when you can lift the baby's weight again. I checked my discharge papers and it says to not lift anything over 20 lbs but it doesn't say for how long. But your incisions should be almost completely healed by two weeks.... A lot of "shoulds" and "maybes" in there! Definitely ask your doc. Do your best not to do anything for at least 5 days!! You will have a faster recovery time if you do.

What's the worst thing someone said to you?
Davyna replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow. That's offensive on so many levels. -
I would definitely for sure give yourself at least a week. Two if you can swing it. I'm 11 days out and I feel up to most things (not sure about something like vaccuuming but maybe). I can lift more than I could before as well, although I still don't want to lift anything over 20 pounds if I don't have to. It's really the first two to three days that it's hard to want to get up and get moving (it's important to do so though). Plan ahead as much as possible. Have all your Clear liquids ready to go in the fridge or the freezer so you don't have to go to the store or anything. I rationed all mine out into separate plastic containers and froze them, then would just pop one into the microwave when it was time to eat. Make sure you have at least 3-4 days of clean, loose clothing to wear. See if one of the oldest children can drive you to surgery and get your prescription filled while you are in recovery. You will need someone to drive you. With so many older kids in the house, it sounds like you have a lot of help available to you. A 6 year old is old enough to not have to be lifted, and one of the older children could give him/her a bath and play with him/her. The only real problem I see would be driving the kids to school and activities, but the oldest three could maybe do that? I would recommend making up a chart of chores and jobs for everyone to do while you are still pre-op. Talk to the older ones and ask them to help out as much as possible. It is, after all, pretty temporary, two weeks tops. Nothing major should have to be done while they are in school, their jobs can be done after that. There seems to be enough of them to handle all the work (unless some of them have jobs?). Maybe their employers, if they have them, would understand they need a few less hours for a couple weeks because mom is having surgery (most jobs young adults have would understand that). You will still need to be slightly active post-op, focus on yourself by taking walks and sipping on your clear liquids. Make sure to walk a lot hun.. as this will help you get back into the swing of things all that much quicker!! Force yourself not to do any chores for a few days, if you are the kind of person that sees something that has to be done and just does it! The less physical work you do, the faster you will recover, and you won't risk hurting yourself. All you need to be doing the first few days is walking, eating, and healing. Good luck! (sorry so long, lol)

What's the worst thing someone said to you?
Davyna replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Same thing happened to me. I had to transfer my medical records from one doctor to another and I sneaked a peek, only to find, "Robin suffers from obesity...." Gee. I'm "suffering" here. I had no idea. :bored
