My first advice is to ask your doc for what they recomend bcause you will see here you will get many and varied responses. All docs seem to have different ideas of what liquids are. I am in my second week of liquids. I am only allowed my 3 protein drinks a day and broth or sugar free jello or sugar free pudding or popsicles. Hang in and do what your doc says I am in disbelief that I am almost done my 2 weeks this is the best I have been able to stick to something.

I am having a small fit then will get over it. I had my consult with my surgeon today and thought I would be all set to get a surgery date only to be told he wants to see me lose 50,60 or 70 pounds in the next 3 months. He also wants to see me get stronger cardiovasularly. He wants me on liquid preop diet for 2 weeks then off for 2 weeks and this is for the next 3 months. I know he is right in that he does not want to lose a patient on the table but I just need to have a littel fit about it. I was so hoping to be banded in august. Also he wants me to get the sleeve not the band. I am pretty fit to be tied.COuld use some words of wisdom.

I am on day 3 of my clear liquid diet I have to lose a bunch of wieght before my dr will do the sleeve. Anyway so far I have done really well with it and have not hit the place of being able to not do it. I am also doing an hour of water aerobics each day. My question is this today I had almost uncontrollable diarhea a few times. I did a search on here about it and found that liquids in means liquids out. So glad that you all can talk about this stuff. So evidently I am right were i should be but....... I have to work on tuesday will it be gone I have anohter week and a half of liquids will it continue the whole time. ?? Can I take imodium or something?? thanks so much in advance for your help with this. I have to do the liquids for 2 weeks then regular food for 2 weeks and alternate like this for 3 months. can not see having this on and off for that long.

I am so thankful to each and every one of you that posted a reply. I have been given lots of things to consider. Right now I am just moving ahead adn doing my liquids and my water aerobics and will revisit the doc in one month. So glad to have this board to come to. Been doing a lot of research and am thinking if I can have it done for the same price I will do the sleeve.

thanks so much to everyone on here who responded I had my little fit then promtply took myself to a water aerobics class. It was just what I needed. I will start with my liquids tomorow. I do have a high BMI and after a lot of thought I am actually greatful that I am seeing surgeoun that does not just jump in. He said today he would rather lose a patient than lose one on the table. To me that says I am with the right surgeoun. So onward i will go and start gettign some of this weight off. thanks again for the support and encouragemant.

skylersmom replied to MyMeshelle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
also wanted to mention I hit the dollar store for some of the misc. items I got like ice cube trays to freeze small portions in and a large pitcher to take with so I can carry my water or crystal light. I got a mini blender for smoothies and such at burlington coat factory at a great price. -

I have been buying stuff in prep for my surgery and it has been frustrating for me to find it all in one place at the best price. I am self pay and with the economy as it is I have been trying to buy stuff little each week. I have finaly found after lots of online research that vitacost.com has had the best prices and has all of what I need. None of the stores in my area have had what I need and if they do the prices are through the roof. the nice thing too is they have a flat shipping fee of 4.95 and no tax depending on your state. Hope that helps and good luck. -

I will be starting my 2 weeks of liquids on thursday as well. I am not too woried about it as I am really pumped up for this lifestyle change. I have my protien powder and got a mini blender for work. Anyone else as jazzed up as me??? -

I am new here and also lactose intolerant. I have alwasy looked at it as it saves me from gaining from eating all of the things that would cause me pain. I have read from my nutrition info from my surgeon to look at the nectar products and permalean. I am assuming that they are lactose free. I will be curious to see how others respond.

Alternative medicine and natural health
skylersmom replied to kamicola's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kami too funny yesterday I had a new client who was a dr and as we were talking she mentioned that she was using coconut oil for a skin issue. I found it amazing that 2 times in one day I had it mentioned to me. Can you point me in the direction for some good info on it.? TIA I think I may do arnica now as well after surgery. I have always used it for headaches and such and after a car accident will be using on this now as well. -
I am really new here and need some reassurance. I have my surgical consult on the 17th and am worried my doc will not band me. I am 440 and know they prefer to do gastric and such with people that have a lot to lose. I have my heart set on getting the band in the beginiing of august and have all my preop stuff done etc. psch eval, nutrition apt, physical . I am self pay sicne my insurance excludes this procedure. We have just gone to settlement to refinacne our house to do this . Do the surgeouns do the lap band on those of us that have a lot to lose?

Thanks so much to all of you on your reassurance. I am feeling stronger going into this consult now. I have been lurking here for a few weeks and was nervous to post and I greatly appreciate your support!!

Alternative medicine and natural health
skylersmom replied to kamicola's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
kammi I am a big proponent of natural remedies. I work in a wholistic health clinic. Currently I have given up my ibuprofen 800 since I know I will not be able to take it after my surgery. I have awful arthritis in my knees. I need to be sure I can live without it. I will be having acupunture and taking rhus tox to deal with it now. -
Crystal who did your surgery?? I am aiming for the first or second week of august adn am seeing dr singh at st agnes.
