  1. Hi all, I have a question which i am hoping those more experienced in banding can answer. I just got off the phone with the clinic and have been advised that i have an appointment with the consultant on the 18th July. This will be for a post surgery check up and my first fill. I have just realised that on the evening of the 18th i am flying out with my family for a trip to Australia. Do you think that would be a problem? What kind of troubles do you encounter after fills? I dont think the cabin pressure on the trip will be an issue but am just concerned about any possible complications or problems i might run into while on hols. any thoughts would be welcome.

Hi all, just stumbled upon this site and thought i would say Hi. My name is Carolyn and I was banded on the 14th June 08. I had my surgery at Homerton Hospital in London with Andrew Jenkinson. My husband had gastric bypass in October last year so i kind of knew what I was in for but wow, it is completely different when its you!!!lol. I am really excited about having the band and the whole new me it is going to help me create. My main motivation for going with the band is to qualify for fertility treatment. I need to have a BMI of 35. Currently it is 43.5 anway, that is me. Looking forward to getting to know you all! Cheers Carolyn

Hi wooosh and gg2007! Banded life so far has been pretty good. i was super sore on Sunday but the tenderness gets less every day. Today I feel well enough to catch the bus back to the hositpal to pick up the meds they forgot to give me at discharge ( ). I had my surgery done on the NHS. I was suprised at how simple the process was. From what i read my expeirence is not normal. I saw a thing about banding on the TV and went to my GP and asked for a referral. First time he said "No, i dont beleive in that kind of surgery. I beleive in behavior modification". So i left there in a right huff and made another appointment to see a different GP at the practice. He gave me the referral without a quibble and just kind of rolled his eyes when i told him what the other doc said. I had an apointment with Mr Jenkinson within 2 months and then did 3 months of weight loss drugs (which had very little effect). We then applied and got funding in about 3 weeks and i was on the surgery list. I had my surgery about 2 months after getting funding. it really does seem to be a postcode lottery as to who gets the surgery and how long it takes. Thanks for the welcome! Cheers Carolyn
