    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

HI All!! 23 days post op and doing really well! Moved into soft foods and have had fish, cottage cheese, and some steamed veggies. Still not feeling hungry which is a good thing, but I've realized that it doesn't really give me a chance to feel full. I haven't really tried pushing it to the limit as I don't want to get sick or hurt myself so I'm just sticking to 4oz portions, eating slowly, and chewing! How's everyone else doing today?
  2. Okay... you are where I want to be when I grow up! I'm 23 days post op so I've got a few weeks before I move into "regular" foods on my plan, but I've been thinking about what my eating life looks like afterwards. I want it to be my lifestyle and not a constant diet. So any tips?? Everything in moderation?

    Soft food stage suggestions.

I just started soft foods, and I'm so excited!! I had salmon last night and it was the best ever! Pinterest has some great idea for recipes if you need inspiration.

I'm so sorry to hear about your complications! That is crazy, I had some trouble to so I understand how scary it was.

    Houston Psych. Eval

I’m doing MUCH better! I had a weird reaction to the Lovenox shot so I ended up staying for like 4 days. Then one of my incisions started draining white stuff. They ended up reopening it so it’s almost healed. I’m doing really well now though. How are you doing?

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Hi all!! Checking in! I had bypass on March 3rd and then a freak reaction to the Levonox shot had me back in surgery on the 4th. It was pretty scary there for a bit so I didn’t get to home until the 7th. I’m onto puréed foods now and everything seems to be back on track ! Glad to see my fellow Marchers doing well! For those coming up, good luck!

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I know!! I go in for my preop and COVID testing this afternoon where they're supposed to tell me my reporting time and surgery time - then I get a text message asking me to confirm my 7:30am appt for Wednesday!!!! Having a time makes it sooooo real!!! Freaking out on the inside. My husband, mother and oldest child are freaking out enough on the outside that I have to be the calm one.

    Houston Psych. Eval

I did the same. I've cut WAY down since October so I think that really helped. I didn't have carb withdrawal like I normally would have.

I know!!! I do pre-op on Monday. Kinda freaking out, but also really surprised at how well I'm doing on the pre-op diet. I'm hoping this means I'll cruise through recovery. Thanks for the well wishes!

    Awful Timing!

Venting since y’all will understand- I started my journey in October, and with my insurance, I could have gotten all done by Christmas. I waited though because I wanted my insurance to start over as I’ve got another procedure to do this year anyway. Plus, I didn’t want to rush into such a life changing surgery. I’ve lost 30lbs, did everything “on schedule “, educated myself and changed some habits. Tested positive for H Pylori and did so many antibiotics, I should have killed any bacteria in a 5 mile radius. Avoided COVID - even when my oldest tested positive - and didn’t even have my usual November sinus issues. Started my pre-op diet yesterday for my surgery on 3/3. Now, I have a cold!!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!! I’m going to get a rapid test for safety sake, but it feels like a regular head cold. If this puts off my surgery, I’m going to be so mad!!

    Awful Timing!

Thank you! Luckily after a few days of sniffles, it progressed pretty quickly so I'm all good! Now just to pass my COVID test on Monday. That would really suck to find out it was more than just the crappy weather. I didn't get tested because 72 hours later, I was all better!

    Breaking Point

My OB/GYN did the annual blood workup and made me come back in for a follow up. He delivered both my kids so he's been my doc for a while, and like the poster above, he said if I didn't do something in 10 years I was going to be in big trouble. He also said that I was now diabetic - skipped the pre stage and just went straight in to diabetic. He referred me to my surgeon. I went to the endocrinologist and sure enough - diabetic. I'm 47 and I already see the cardiologist for a stress related thing - my dad died at 52 of a massive heart attack. Blood pressure is now high, cholesterol is high, and diabetic on top of it. My knees hurt so bad some days it's hard to walk. I can't stand for long periods of time. I was already thinking that in 5 years I might have to have a cane or walker. I have a 14 and a 10 yr old. When I talked to my husband, and he almost started crying because he was scared of losing me, that was it. That was the moment. It was all just a perfect storm to make me realize that I couldn't do this on my own. Surgery is next week and I'm getting more anxious about postop, but it will be okay and I'll come out better on the other side.
