  1. I'm 40 days post-op for bypass, and I'm just starting to understand my new "full" feeling. I also just had a meeting with my nutritionist for some of this very same info. She said the amount we're able to eat will vary person. I told her that I didn't know what my new full feeling was, but that when I've been eating, I just get this feeling of - I'm done with maybe a burp to go along with it. She said - that's it! That's my new full feeling! So now I'm working on being mindful when I eat so when that feeling of I've had enough hits, I can recognize it. I've been tempted to push my new pouch to see what it feels like, but I have an aversion to being sick so I'm not going to do it on purpose. I'm sure I'll do something forgetful and pay for it all by myself without trying to do it on purpose.
  2. I was told not to drive till my 1 week post-op appointment. I could undestand why because turning the wheel pulled on my incisions. If I'd had to make a quick turn or something, it would've been really painful.
  3. I agree. I made some small but consistent changes for months before surgery, and I thought the pre-op was pretty easy. Getting in the right mindset is SO important.
  4. I had my RNY on 3/3, and there's a bizarre question that has been taking up way too much of my brain. Unlike the sleeve, the rest of our stomach is still in there. How does it stay in place? Like... is it just floating? Can it shift? Could it migrate somewhere else and end up all twisted? Sorry... it's just been in the back of my mind!

    GONNA LOOSE IT

You might need to consider a second opinion.

    The stomach left behind...

Those are some great answers! I actually do feel better! I was thinking it was just like jellyfish-y floating around in there, but that makes SO much more sense!!

    UTTERLY LOST SLEEVE PATIENT

I'm a newbie so not a ton of experience to share, and I'm not trying to sound preachy.... but maybe you need to seek out a therapist as it seems like your fear might be turning into an eating problem. From this response, it seems like you aren't eating nearly enough. I'm well over that amount and I'm only a month from surgery.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

The stall is HARD! I've been on these forums for months before I had my surgery so I feel really prepared. I knew stalls would happen, but now that it's here, it's hard not to mentally beat myself up or question what I've been doing. I'm so grateful for these forums!

    The stomach left behind...

RIGHT?!!! I'm going to ask my NP if no one else has an answer, but they always give me the oddest looks when I ask my curiosity questions. I'm a librarian so weird, obscure questions are a job hazard.

There are also IV bars and there are companies that will come to your house to administer an IV.

    Anestesia coverage

When I called my insurance (BCBS) before surgery to verify benefits, she told me that most anestheisia isn't considered "in network" for some reason, but that if after I get a bill if I call back they'll usually just change it over to in network so I'd give you insurance a call.

I also used the Davis Clinic with Dr. Primomo, but I got to meet Dr. Kajese when I had some complications. Both of the doctors are amazing, and I felt really supported by the staff. They'll tell you that they're making a lifetime commitment to you so that if you start struggling with regain or anything down the road, you can contact them for help.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Hi All!! I had my one month surgiversary (3/3) over the weekend, and while my scale has slowed down, which I expected, I went shopping and was able to get into XL instead of 2XL and have gone from a size 24 to an 18/20! I also compared my measurements from 12/20 when I started measuring, and I have lost a whopping 41 inches!!! That seems crazy to say! Feeling really good, and I get to move into regular foods on Thursday!
  15. I feel ya. I'm at 65lbs lost and just now having to get rid of clothes. I will say that I didn't get a lot of compliments or people noticing until I went to my smaller clothes.

    Missing something from my diet.

I lost 46lb before surgery from Oct 2020 and my surgery was 3/3/21.

Am I reading your post correctly? What are you eating while at work? If I'm reading it correctly, and you're not taking any food to work other than water and gatorade, you're not taking in nearly enough especially if you have a very physical job. Maybe I'm not reading the post correctly though...

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I just picked 175 because it's the lowest I can remember being in college. I'm big-boned too, so I THINK it's a realistic number. I'd honestly be ecstatic at 199 TBH. LOL!

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

@LoveSimcha We're about the same height. Did you choose your goal weight or did your doc? I asked about a goal weight, and my doc's office basically said they don't give me one. I picked mine just as a number to put in.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Thanks! I'd like to claim it's all from surgery, but I lost 46lbs pre-surgery. I've lost about 20lbs since surgery though!

    Gee, Thanks Mom... I think...

That is awful!! I'm so sorry she said something so rude and unsupportive!!

    Any March Surgeries?

Yep! I'll ride the not hungry train for as long as I can. I've discovered that I can do two sips okay, but the third makes everything feel tight. I have my Apple watch set to go off every 3 minutes and I take 1 sip. That's easy for me to do and doesn't make me uncomfortable. I'm trying to push it to two sips, but one is super easy.

    Any March Surgeries?

I haven't felt hungry or full since my surgery on March 3rd. I've been using my 4oz cups to keep portions sizes in line, and I'm starting to weigh food. It's weird because I haven't FELT full, but I just get a sense of - Okay, I'm done. I'm not trying to push my boundaries yet either so it's nice that I"m not hungry.

    It’s Happening (sorta)!!!

Good news! Plus... you'll see the nursing side from the patient POV and I bet that will only make you a better nurse! Good luck!

    Excess Weight Calculation

Do you mean for trying to figure out how much weight you "should" be able to lose after surgery? I would think you'd use your surgery weight for that. Anything beforehand wouldn't be because of the tool so I wouldn't think it'd count towards your "expected" weight loss from surgery.
