    Exercises for Flexibility?

For gentle yoga, I searched for yoga for seniors. It's got some easy starter moves that will help with the flexibility while not killing you with the up and down and up and down.

How are y'all creating "status updates"?

I'm new too so maybe not the best answer, but I think of the status updates as more like a diary entry and posts as a question or something like a product that I want to share with everyone. I'm not sure if that's correct, but that's what I've been going off of.

    Any March Surgeries?

Me too! Well - librarian these days, but I'm hoping for the 5th so that I can have the week before and the week of spring break for recovery. Good Luck!!
  4. I have the minor form of Thalassemia which is a type of anemia where I don’t absorb iron well. All of my blood counts are perpetually low all the time. After I had my first child, my OB said that normally they’d give a blood transfusion to someone with my numbers, but not me because that was just where my numbers lived! I’m just wondering if anyone else has it and if you had any complications from surgery - especially bypass? I’ve never seen a hematologist because it doesn’t really affect me, but wondering if I should try and get in before I do surgery.
  5. YAS! And the nerves are starting to hit. I go for my EGD tomorrow. It was really abstract back in October when it was MONTHS away. Now that the date's getting closer, it's much more real and becoming daunting. Good luck to you!!!
  6. I haven't tried anything yet. I'm hoping for surgery in March, so I've just been window shopping for different products.
  7. I was poking around in the BP shop and found this. Might be a good way to try a sample. https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/genepro-medical-grade-unflavored-30g-protein-powder-sample-pack

    Any March Surgeries?

I'm hoping for March! I do my scope tomorrow and that's my last step before it gets sent in for approval!

    6 months post-op...reset to goal

I'm so sorry for you and your hubby's loss 💔. You do look amazing though, so sending you wishes for peace and strength.
  10. That was a really informative video!! Thank you for sharing it!
  11. My dietician shared this app with me. It's called Ate. I'm not the best at tracking all the macros consistently, but this is a quick way to visually track what you've eaten. You just snap a picture, choose whether it is "on path" or "off path" - whatever that looks like for you. If you want to get more detailed, you can click on the picture and add notes and diary-type info like why did you eat, how did it make you feel, etc... There isn't a way to list all the macros, but for those of us who have trouble tracking consistently, this might be a nice alternative for you. It's also got a social component in that you can have "friends" who can see what you've posted and you can chat in the app. If you want to be friends on Ate, my invite code is FY21-TFRP
  12. Some peanut butter has Xylitol in it. You have to be careful if you use the same PB with your dogs since it's poisonous to them.
  13. My surgeon's office is recommending a plant-based approach. I still don't have a surgery date yet so I'll be getting more info from them, but I've wondered if and how their approach is different than others. I'm guessing that they'll tell me about plant-based protein, but I don't know.
  14. I use MFP, but I'm not the best at tracking consistently so this has been helpful. Plus, my dietician is on my friends list so she can see what I've posted.
  15. If you have a church that you go to - or really any local religious center whether you participate or not - you can probably call them and see if they have any families in need. Especially right after the holidays, they'll have lists of their members who are in need. They might even handle giving it away for you so that you don't have to approach anyone.
  16. Quick success story though... I went into the holidays giving myself some grace but not wanting to go crazy so I set a goal that if I could get through the holiday with only gaining a pound or two that I'd be happy.  I'm .2 lbs LESS than when the holidays started.  WOOT!

  17. Hopefully getting COVID tested today for my endo on Friday.  I wasn't feeling the nerves when it was October and my possible surgery was in March.  Now that I'm doing my last step for approval, the nerves have hit.

    Thalassemia and Bypass?

Thanks! I don’t have a surgery date yet, but I’m hoping for March so I guess I need to get on the ball and find a doc!
  19. Found these at Walmart for less than $4. They seem really good for a popsicle option. I’ve only tried the blueberry pomegranate so far, but it was really good! My youngest liked them too.
  20. Has anyone tried/used a Smart Measuring Tape? I found this one on Amazon. Just wondering if anyone has tried it, and what are your thoughts? https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B082W886W9/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A1WXKQ3NWKC8WT&psc=1

    Sleeve vs Bypass

I also went to the doctor anticipating the sleeve, but he suggested the bypass. He was really good about explaining the whys. He asked what my concerns were about the bypass, and I mentioned that I thought it was more invasive. He said that it's a more technically complicated surgery than the sleeve for the doctor, but on the patient side of it, the pre/post op are pretty much the same. When it wasn't done laparoscopically, I'm sure it was much more invasive, but now it's pretty much the same as the sleeve. I've decided to take his advice and go with the sleeve. Also, my insurance made it very clear this one a one time surgery, and I've seen so many people with revisions that I'm just going straight to bypass.

    OOTD

I think the black one is super cute!!
  24. Definitely double check w/insurance. When I had my oldest, insurance paid for the day before I had her since I went in the night before, and the day after I had her but not the day of delivery. I called, and the woman was like... hmm... it shows you didn't have insurance that day. What?? She fixed it, but that $11k bill for one day about gave me a stroke!
