    2 years Post OP

I feel the exact same way. I lost close to 90lbs and have managed to gain about 25 pounds since my smallest weight, which was 269. I'm feeling very embarassed and ashamed as well. My two year follow-up is with my surgeon this month and I truly have no idea how to show my face. The last time I was there, I had gained about 16lbs since my smallet weight. So this is just embarassing.
  2. I haven't been on in quite a while... My surgery was in March 2021. I have since lost almost 90lbs, but my weightloss has completely stalled. I've been in the low 270s for months. And I do know why. I have essentially stopped following all recommended healthy eating habits and work regimens. I've also noticed that I can consume more in one sitting than I was able to do just a few weeks ago. I'm nervous. My annual follow-up is in about a month+ and I am ashamed of the fact that I haven't lost any additional weight since I was last there 6 months prior. Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do to get back on target? Has anyone ever done a successful "pouch reset"? I'm currently maintaining my weight, but I know it's only a matter of time before I start gaining.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I am officially down 77lbs. My weightloss has come to a crawl as well, and I am about 6.5 months post surgery. I still need to lose 60lbs before getting to my ultimate weight; but only about 30 before I truly feel comfortable.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Oh wow...my three month post-operversary was yesterday. And I'm down 58lbs. Whoop, whoop! 2 pounds shy of 20lbs a month...

    Any March Surgeries?

Oh yeah, you were much smaller than me at your starting weight. My doctor told me that the smaller I get, the harder it will be to lose weight as I won't be using the same amount of energy to burn calories, as I did at 350lbs. Its absolutely amazing to see the various starting sizes of people who have undergone this surgery and are on this journey. I am honestly trying to get down to your starting weight lol

    Any March Surgeries?

My surgery was 3/23. I too feel like I can eat more than I should be able to, but I definitely feel full if and when I eat too much, too fast, or God Forbid, take a sip of water before the suggested 30 minute wait time. Initially, I was losing 1 to 2 pounds a day. Then I stalled out for what seemed like 3 weeks. And then I began losing again. I've lost 16 pounds since 5/17. Oddly enough, I feel like I'm losing more now that I can eat freely. I guess my body knows I'm not in starvation mode for sure and is using the calories I consume for energy. I give it another couple of days before I finally break free of the 300s 😊 I'm so excited!

    Purée and stall?

I'm happy to say that the scale has begun to slowly yet surely move again. I'm only 3 additional pounds down, but I'm still happy to see a change. I really was going into a pretty bad funk.

    Purée and stall?

Thank you for the words of encouragement again. Good night.

    Purée and stall?

Perhaps it may come up under my screen name? I'm not sure.

    Purée and stall?

I was in the middle of a very long response to this before and then the window closed 😕 I will try to remember all that I wrote. I have a whole Gastric Sleeve recipe book which is really awesome. But the issue with that is a lot of the recipes incorporate food that I don't like. Again, a very big issue that I contemplated before surgery and plagues me now that its over, is the fact that I don't like vegetables. Never have, since I was child. The only kinds of vegetables that I can stomach are seasoned Spinach, Broccoli, mixed vegetables, and Edamame (but I'm not even sure that counts as a vegetable). Onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc....I can't. Hell, I can't eat a salad unless its masked by ranch or Caesar dressing. I even tried cauliflower and I am one of the very few that found it to be gross. I don't think it tastes like "nothing" or whatever you want it to taste like, as many have claimed. But I have also not consumed chocolate, candy, cake, donuts, anything fried, bacon, soda, Arizona green tea, heavy cream, whole milk, cereal, ice cream, pasta, rice....nothing that used to make my heart sing (honestly) so its a bit of a slap in the face to just be stalled out at 320lbs. I haven't even walked in the past few days because I feel like its a waste.

    Purée and stall?

I made a post about my confusion surrounding my food plan and I didn't get a lot of feedback. Bread is not on my list of approved foods, but its also not on my list of foods to limit or avoid altogether. I'm not quite sure why. I should probably send my dietician a message about this. But "soft" foods are what was specified, and she did say that everything I can have is not specified on the list. However what I can't have is made very clear and I have stayed away from. I know people have said that they personally try to avoid bread altogether because of its lack of nutritional value and gateway ability to lead to other carbs, but...yeah....

    Purée and stall?

I really need to start doing this. Keeping track of exactly what I am consuming.

    Purée and stall?

Wow! Thank you for the advice and encouragement! These are actually really, really good ideas. I had started to feel very hopeless for a second. I still kind of do. I haven't walked in a few days because I feel like its pointless. I can admit that I don't consume a lot of veggies. I never have been a vegetable person and I knew this would be an issue. I haven't even tried a salad due to the dressing that I would crave on it, and the fact that I have been warned by my dietician not to consume any raw foods. But I've been pretty big on the protein heavy foods. Crab, tuna, turkey...I've had eggs once in the last week...protein shakes. I've only been drinking iced lemon water. I have eaten some Good Health Sea-Salted Avocado Oil chips (not a lot); small pieces of Avocado toast on Sourdough bread. I tried making a Avocado sauce but I put too much cilantro in it and I didn't like the taste. I really can't believe that I am not consuming any refined sugar foods, not a lot of carbs, etc. and the scale is just stuck. But I am going to try some of these ideas.

    Purée and stall?

This is crazy. I have been yo-yoing between 320 and 321 for the last week+. I KNOW I am not consuming as many calories as I am burning. And I have been walking. And consuming a buttload of water. This is why weightloss absolutely sucks for so many people. And can be unbelievably discouraging. The body doesn't go into shutdown mode when you're gaining weight; only when losing.

    Purée and stall?

It doesn't feel like the weight took a while to pack on. I feel like I could gain 2lbs just looking at a cheeseburger. This "stall" feels horrible and I'm kind of feeling like a fool. To go through surgery and be limiting myself to water, cottage cheese, tuna, yogurt, ice pops, bland scrambled eggs, etc.....basically absolutely nothing with any real flavor, and be stalled out at 322lbs? Totally unacceptable.

    What is your why?

After 6+ months of working with my personal trainer, while I did lose inches, I lost very little weight. And after going on a hike with my trainer and a few of her clients, I saw pictures of myself and couldn't believe the way I looked from behind. I felt like I looked like a wildabeast. It was then that I made the decision to take the plunge and get the surgery. I have always been a curvy woman. But over the years, I just kept getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger. I realized it was hindering me from doing a lot of things that I wanted to do and my mid-30s was old enough for me to allow this to go on. I also felt completely invisible to the opposite sex. Like, completely invisible. And as a teen and in my early 20s, that was never the case in my experience. I really just wanted to take my life back.

    Purée and stall?

Still haven't budged much. I've only lost 4lbs in the last six days, as oppose to the 2lbs I was dropping a day for the first 2 weeks. I've been the same weight for the last 3 days. I got really depressed this morning. I feel like I have and am sacrificing too much to be experiencing this right now.
  18. Hey all! Last Tuesday, I reached the beginning of the Phase 2 diet. I've been told that I can eat eggs (boiled, scrambled), non-fat yogurt, non-fat jello (I'm honestly not sure if that includes the gelatin and pudding...any suggestions?); cottage cheese; pureed Lentil soup; cooked and canned vegetables and fruit; applesauce; mashed avocado; squash soup; and mashed bananas. I don't eat Squash and Bananas as I've always hated the taste. Did anyone else find this phase a bit, well, confusing? I legitimately can only eat a few spoonfuls of any of this at any one time. For instance today, I have had about 3 or 4 mini-spoonfuls of yogurt, a cup of mandarin oranges in 100% juice, cottage cheese, and a few pieces of warmed sourdough bread. Yesterday, I attempted to eat scrambled eggs with a cauliflower thin and it did not go well I'm also having a very difficult time keeping up with the correct fluid intake. Quite frankly, I'm sick of water. And the sweetness of Crystal Light can become overwhelming after a while. Next week I can begin eating (or trying to eat) shrimp and crab legs. I'm actually really excited. Despite these little obstacles, I have lost 29 pounds since my surgery date on 3/23 I really was just looking for a place to vent and accept any suggestions/positive feedback if possible.

    Purée and stall?

I'm definitely experiencing the 3 week stall. I've lost only .6 lbs in the last 3 days. I've walked and know I've been consuming less than 1000 calories a day. Alittle scary, considering the cravings (sacrifices) I have had to repeatedly push down. After losing weight so rapidly within the first 2 weeks, this is a bit upsetting. I want to desperately get out of the 300s.

    Post-Op Diet...

@Jnfinney Thank you for the heads up! I pretty much gathered that getting used to food of any kind after the surgery and 2 weeks of basically eating nothing, is likely going to do a number on me. I am very interested to see what the pureed phase is going to look like though. I don't know what to puree.

    Post-Op Diet...

Please forgive what may seem like my many posts... I am a week post-surgery today and I am having a lot of difficulty with this liquid only diet. My hunger and/or cravings were non-existant for the first 2-3 days. But now? I am having some serious issues. It's not hunger either. It's simply wanting something to quench this crave. My diet has consisted of 2oz of protein shake for breakfast, lunch, dinner; water and/or Crystal Light; chicken (bone) broth; and sugar free ice pops. I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. I need some prayers...positive words...advice....whatever you can throw at me.

    Post-Op Diet...

I'm gonna stick it out. My progress is too fantastic. Still driving me crazy though lol

    Post-Op Diet...

This is probably my issue... commercials and the show Chopped. I'm gonna stay away from those.
  24. I know I can easily ask my surgeon this question, but I am interested in seeing what some people have experienced as being forever off limits after surgery. Have your doctors told you anything?
  25. So what is the issue with Arizona Green Tea? The sugar?
