One week out from ESG
JazzyJess20 replied to (Deleted through replacement's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
I didn't have the exact same surgery, but I am right there with you, having a difficult time with my diet currently. I have also noticed that I tire very easily. I feel good; little to no soreness at this point (my sleeve surgery was also on 3/23), when I'm walking around from one room to another on the 2nd floor. But walking up the stairs? Taking a shower and getting dressed? It will literally take me down for the count. My energy depletes with a snap of the fingers. But I also feel like I am consuming something like 200-300 calories a day, which is nothing. I just wanted to let you know that I feel you...stand with you in the difficulty of it all. -
Sleevers....What brand multi vitamin are you taking?
JazzyJess20 replied to Tim C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, I think the "bariatric multi" is just another way to capitalize. My Flintstones multivitamin chewable that I get from Amazon, literally offers every vitamin/nutrient listed in a special bariatric vitamin. Perhaps not as much of it by the looks of the labels, but enough for me to reach the (or above the) necessary daily value. -
Sleevers....What brand multi vitamin are you taking?
JazzyJess20 replied to Tim C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Apparently. Two a day, offers all of the vitamins and nutrients I need and was the specific multivitamin suggested by my surgeon. Additionally, Calcium (Vivactiv) and acid reflux reducer. -

I'm taking Vivactive Caramel chews and chewable Flintstone tablets. No joke; Flinstones. Both twice a day. -
What foods are OFF limits after Gastric Sleeve?
JazzyJess20 replied to JazzyJess20's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Luckily, I have never found the taste of diet soda to be worth the calories so I could never get into it. Also, I have seen over time that it has been determined that diet soda is worse (or just as bad) as the original. But I'm going to try my hardest to just stay away from, giving myself "a treat" like once a year or something at dinner. -
Oh wow! Thank you for the information! I genuinely did not know all of this. Is this typically the reason why allstalls and plateaus happen in weightloss?

How much weight did you lose the first 90 days ?
JazzyJess20 replied to Tim C's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am nowhere near the 90 days mark; my surgery was only 6 days ago. I didn't have a pre-op diet. However, I am 14lbs down since surgery. I am ecstatic and ready for it to keep going. But does that sound like too much to some? Perhaps a lot of it is water weight. -
I never understood this and don't understand what happens when I hear this. I always thought that if you burn more than you consume, your body has no choice but to lose weight. What is this stall?

What foods are OFF limits after Gastric Sleeve?
JazzyJess20 replied to JazzyJess20's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
3/23 I had surgery. The first 2-3 days absolutely sucked, but I'm getting stronger every day. It's been six days and the scale says I'm 14lbs down so....its a beautiful time to be alive lol Thank you for asking! -
What foods are OFF limits after Gastric Sleeve?
JazzyJess20 replied to JazzyJess20's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you so much for this. I imagined that the lack of nutritional value and risk of back-sliding were the primary reasons why soda is so frowned upon after surgery. I get it. It's like drinking carbonated sugar with zero nutrients. Wait, no, that is what it is. -
What foods are OFF limits after Gastric Sleeve?
JazzyJess20 replied to JazzyJess20's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ooooh! Thank you for all of the replies! It is scary as hell to think that I may never be able to drink Ginger Ale or Coca Cola again, but I know these sodas do nothing for my health. Or weight. They're just so good. I used to be able to finish a 2 liter of soda in less than half a day. And that is horrible, I know. I hope that after a few weeks, I just completely lose my taste for it. Now why is popcorn a deal breaker? Did the doctor ever explain why? -
Any March Surgeries?
JazzyJess20 replied to Hopefulin2021's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This scares me so much. I've been having 2oz of protein shake every few hours; breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'm only 4 days out, and I have started craving things too. My children got Burger King and my sense awakened to the point of me feeling like a vampire when I smelled the food. I'm recovering at a family member's house and there is soda and sweets every where. It's begun to dawn on me that my favorites won't even be able to be attempted for at least 2-3 months. By then, I will have likely lost a significant amount of weight but still... -
Friend saw me for the first time in 3 months...
JazzyJess20 replied to BayouTiger's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This "friend" sounds like a scared hater. She's scared because...well, you will look better than her and she'll see/feel it. And she's a hater because she doesn't have the guts to do what you've done. My cousin warned me of the 'friends' that you speak of. She told me that many people who have surrounded themselves with my presence, have done so for various reasons. And sadly, some of those reasons were/are because I was the "safe" friend that made them feel better about themselves. Don't get me wrong, I am not (nor have I ever) considered myself ugly in any way. However, my weight has hidden me. And this was intentional. But when you ****** your power back and become the person you have been running from, you're going to mess up some people's comfort zones. I've seen/felt some snyde remarks about surgery possibly being the "easy" way out and it truly isn't. On any level. I am only 4 days post-op and I can see that. It is a life-long committment and sacrifice (with minimal to zero choice) of ever going backwards. Yes, some people gain weight back, but realistically....its almost impossible to ever seen such numbers on the scale again. Its time to reevaluate your friends. Cut em' loose. -
Any March Surgeries?
JazzyJess20 replied to Hopefulin2021's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am!! Minor soreness but nothing like I had been feeling before. And that gas has started to pass. Anybody had any waves of hunger pains that come and go? -
Any March Surgeries?
JazzyJess20 replied to Hopefulin2021's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my surgery yesterday. The pain is more soreness than anything. But the trapped gas in my stomach is the most annoying, uncomfortable feeling in the world. I've walked; attempted to lay on my side and nothing. I burped a little but nothing significant from either end. Someone, PLEASE help! -
Any March Surgeries?

As am I! This forum is a Godsend. -
You are not alone. At all. This has been plaguing me for the last week. Luckily, I let alcohol and cigarettes go over a year ago. But I am absolutely, positively addicted to Arizona Green Tea. I love meat, seltzer and Coca-Cola (at times). I'm only getting the sleeve, but to my understanding that stuff is a BIG NO NO for at least 2-3 months after surgery. Its very scary.

Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?
JazzyJess20 replied to LoveSimcha's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery is 7:30am on 3/23. I was so excited for months but am now officially nervous. I know this is going to be such a huge change for me. And I don't do very well with change. -

March 23rd....I've officially begun to get nervous! -
Unlike many others that I have seen on this forum, my doctor is not requiring that I do a liquid diet pre-surgery. I don't have any questions or concerns for this doctor, as he is pretty renowned in New Jersey and Connecticut. But has anyone else had this experience? I still plan on taking it easy, beginning two weeks prior. My liquid diet will not begin until post-op.

NO pre-op Liquid Diet...Anyone else?
JazzyJess20 replied to JazzyJess20's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No. I plan on definitely being more mindful of what I'm consuming 2 weeks before, but my doctor has made clear that an all liquid, pre-op diet is not necessary. However, I was told to have a "light" breakfast and dinner on the day before.
