Fairlife Nutritional Shakes have a lot less carbs than that and are made from milk as well. Sams Club sells these ones in a case and you can get them online from there too. I would also recommend talking with your nutritonist to make sure these fit your plan as well. -
Need to lose weight for new program

If I am reading this correctly and the first clinic had full authorization for surgery, then I would just talk with your insurance and the new clinic to get it transferred. My wife and I had surgery in November but used our 6 month programs from almost 2 years prior (our insurance allowed that). I wouldn't vastly alter your diet unless they specifically give you a date. You can work on reducing your intake of food below what your body needs to maintain weight and you would still lose weight. So you shouldn't have to make any drastic changes. Increasing your water is definitely a good idea as well as it will help prepare you for after surgery and keeping hydrated. -

Although my surgery was not outpatient, sleep and rest are the most important things right now to recovery. Take the medicines that they prescribed you and sleep and walk when you can. Crushed ice may help as well if you are not able to take sips of water. You will want to also stay hydrated so that you don't end up back in the ER in a few days from dehydration. -

Yes, I had what is called the Keto Flu. Electrolytes help to curb this. I drank the broth of Progresso soup (strained out the rest) and that helped significantly. Good luck and this will get better shortly. -
I would definitely look for some help from a Therapist. Some of what you are describing could be Binge Eating Disorder if your symptoms align. I was diagnosed and am receiving help for this from a Therapist. The mental head games with food is a constant battle but is definitely treatable if we seek out the help that is needed. I also was grazing, boredom and emotionally eating pretty much daily before I started a treatment plan. I also had the issue of never having hunger or fullness queues from my stomach so I never knew when I ate too much other than being on the verge of throwing up. Seeking treatment has helped in my life tremendously. Welcome to the forums, I have only been here a short while before I had surgery.

My wife and I were very similar to you with only slight nausea and minor pain. The hardest part of my hospital stay was that it felt like they fed me 7 IVs and I had to use the restroom way too much (every 2 hours) even when I was asleep. I only took one prescription pain pill after the hospital and a few Tylenol over the next few days but that was it. My wife even started working a few hours from home less than a week after surgery because we felt so well. Congratulations on your surgery and I hope you have a wonderfully smooth recovery.

My wife and I had surgery on 11/11. Submittal to insurance for us was on a Monday and by Friday of that week I was approved and by Wednesday of the following week my wife was approved as well. Once we had both approvals we were scheduled for surgery and started the 2 week pre-op diet only 2 days later. Congratulations on getting the requirements done and here is hoping that insurance will approve this for you.

Insurance requirement of a year of weights/BMI's

My requirements required 5 years of weight history. This was only 1 doctor visit a year that had your weight listed. I was actually able to gather this from the doctors online portal that I went to for me and my wife and was one of the easier requirements that I had. -

This surgery is invasive but the recovery is quite quick. My wife and I had VSG surgery on 11/11 and we were both back to doing everything we could do before surgery very quickly. The pain was manageable and we only took pain killers for 1 day after we got home from the hospital stay. You will do great and this surgery is to help you in the long run. Our reason to get the surgery this year and as soon as we could was due to similar circumstances as yours as my wife was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis this year. Her pain has substantially reduced in just the last 8 weeks. Good luck tomorrow and just remember the reasons why you are doing this surgery. It will be worth it in the end. -
I have a friend with an egg allergy and was able to try duck eggs and is not allergic to them. Not sure if that is something you might try but I thought it was worth mentioning. Another breakfast suggestion is a savory oatmeal with spinach, garlic (powder) or onion powder and cheese or nutritional yeast.

My wife and I both had surgery last month and did have a learning curve to start moving towards the new food stages. I bought a few bariatric cook books and we have been cooking out of them to help us with the transition and it has gone really well. The Gastric Sleeve Bariatric Cookbook is the one that we have been using and it has helped us to try to meal plan easier and the food (other than the pancake recipe) have been amazing and not too terribly difficult either. It also lists the stages so that you know if a recipe can be done at a certain stage.

My wife and I had our surgery 11/11. We were told by our doctor to be a bit more aggressive at our 2 week appointment in regards to what we eat and we have been adding back foods at a reasonably quick rate. Yesterday my wife and I shared a two taco meal at Rubio's as they have Keto-style cheese wraps instead of the tortillas and we had shrimp tacos and saved the beans for later. We only had about 3/4 of the taco each but it was amazing that we have done so well to be able to eat shrimp already at 6 weeks. Our doctor also wanted to wean us off of protein shakes by 8 weeks, and if my protein calculations are correct, we should be just about there. As for weight loss, I am down 30lbs and my wife is down 25lbs since surgery. We both dropped 19 and 18lbs additionally during our preop. I am down 50lbs and she is down 43lbs since October 27th. Overall, I would say at this phase (the Honeymoon period) we are doing what we can to make this a success. We are trying to take photos as much as we can to show the difference. Our cloths are quite loose and I know we are going to have to downsize them fairly soon.

Calories intake 2 months post op gastric sleeve

100 calories a day is not sufficient and will put your body into starvation mode (not being able to lose weight at all). I am 6 weeks post op and consume around 600-800 calories right now fairly comfortably. I do measure my food to 1/4 cup and am able to eat that portion most days. If you are not getting at least 1/2 gallon of water a day that can also lead to dehydration. If you can only eat 1 bite of food, that sounds a bit concerning to me. You shouldn't really be hungry for the first few months after surgery. I don't feel hungry but can tell when I am full or my stomach has said I have eaten enough. -

I would also recommend Biotene Dry Mouth Spray. It helps coat your mouth so that you don't have such a dry mouth. -

Yes, NSAIDs (advil, ibuprofen) are not allowed but Tylenol is not an NSAID. -

Low BMI - Second guessing Dec 31 VSG

I had a BMI not far from yours when I had the surgery last month and have lost 22lbs in the month since surgery. I also lost 19 lbs on the preop diet. My doctor was amazing, I had little pain and it has been incredible to lose 40lbs in just over 1 month. My wife also had the surgery the same day that I did, but had a much higher BMI. She also has lost 40 lbs since the preop diet and had a little more pain than I did but it has subsided. This surgery has changed my families lives in just the short while that we have had it. I highly recommend to everyone who qualifies to get the surgery. We are advocating to our other family members who are above the 35 BMI threshold to get this surgery to help take back their lives and be able to do everything that they want to do. If you are like me, you started the process of getting approval for surgery because you have been fighting weight for years. There is a reason you chose this path and this surgery will be life changing for the better. -

Welcome to the 3 week stall. My wife and I also had surgery around 1 week before you and have also hit our stall. If you look on the forum there are a lot of people that have this stall due to the rapid weight loss. Per the other forum posts, we just need to keep at it and our body will start losing again soon. -

I used a lot of Himalayan salt added to broth along with the broth of some high salt Progresso soups. Those seemed to help a lot. Also if you can find it, sugar free Pedialyte should help even more as Pedialyte has a lot more electrolytes than Powerade. -
I agree with the other commenters. Go full liquid now. My wife and I both lost 17lbs by doing the full liquid diet for 2 weeks (3-4 protein shakes a day). Make sure to get 64oz+ of water a day as well as that helps to flush the kidneys and excess water weight. The other key is to make sure you get enough electrolytes. Soup broths, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello and flavored waters were our go to to really drop weight fast. We maintained about 500 calories a day and this helped us after surgery to lose weight fast as well.

Nov 2020 Post Op Thread

My wife and I had surgery on 11/11. We are both down 35 lbs since preop. This week our doctor said to start working on purees but also said to try to be a bit more aggressive in testing the waters of full food but obviously to not take it too fast. We were able to eat a few bites of Thanksgiving sides and didn't overindulge. I am surprised that after surgery I do not even crave the desserts that I previously would have eaten lots of. This surgery has also helped me to know when I have eaten enough. We are also measuring out our portions at 1/4 cup right now and are just barely able to eat that. -
I would talk with your doctor, nutritionist or dietician. My doctors plan is for us to be on full solids, so any food you can eat by 8 weeks out. Fish and chicken salad and all fruits and vegetables.

Since my post decided to duplicate itself, My wife and I had our 2 week follow up today. We have lost just over 30lbs each since our Preop diet started on October 27th. Our journey now continues with the puree stage now.

Our doctor said we could take capsule pills. We did try to do the chewable vitamins but we couldn't stomach them.

I also have a Renpho and my wife and I hadn't weighed in at home for 1 year until our preop last month. I had a lot of doctors office weights that I was able to monitor my weight before. We are currently recording our weight daily as we drop after surgery.
