Post op from June 9th - I know why I haven't lost any weight! Granted, it takes time to heal, and not everyone loses weight for the first few weeks according to my surgeon. He told me I should be trying to get 800-1000 calories a day and I've been at 500. So, I'm going to try to up my calories and I'll let ya'll know if I start to see a difference! ❤️

I was drinking them WAY too fast at first so I try to take 30/40 minutes to drink it and it has helped a lot. I don't feel the fullness with liquids really, so I need to slow way down in order to tell if I'm full or not. Just drinking chocolate premier protein shakes atm.

Thank you SO SO SO much. ❤️ I know in all aspects of life, it is best to never compare ourselves to each other. Its all going to work out, gonna use my tool and things will happen in their own time. Huge hugs from California.

I know I need to be patient... But I'm curious, for those a week out from their surgeries, have any of you lost weight yet? I haven't lost anything and I'm 8 days out. I know my body is still in trauma and is healing, but I hear of people losing weight immediately. I guess I'm paranoid I'm doing something wrong lol.

You absolutely are not alone. I'm really struggling to figure out this new pouch. The only time I feel full is when I have to take my medications (which they told me to take them normally). Its brutal and takes about 10 minutes where I used to be able to do it in 30 seconds lol. Trying to get my 64oz of water in and 3 protein shakes a day. Its a little bit difficult. I hope it will be easier to differentiate our fullness once we hit puree and soft foods. I know that I made the right choice by doing this surgery. I thought about it for years and went through 7 months of preparation. But I did experience some buyers remorse last night. I think I'm feeling overwhelmed by it all - I did pull a muscle in my shoulder a day before surgery and that hurts more than anything my surgeon did so its hard to really gauge my pain right now. I feel like I studied and really self reflected leading up to all of this but somehow, I feel that I'm underprepared. I'm sure this feeling will go away with time. I've also stalled...which logically I know its fine, because I'm healing but then the worry sets in, am I doing anything wrong? Its way too easy to slip into comparing your journey to others. We all move at our own pace. And then my birthday is tomorrow. Kinda sucks feeling so low on such a milestone birthday, but I'm sure once I recover, things will be good. Don't mean to have a pity party lol, I guess I'm just all up in my feelings at the moment. I'm super proud of all of us though. Its not an easy journey.

Had surgery on the 9th. I have Anthem Blue Cross and had to pay $3,111. Plus the vitamins, pre-op diet and the dietitian appts for the 6 months pre-op. Which, probably comes to another $1000?

Sending you lots of love today! I hope your revision goes well!

Question for those who have recently had their surgeries. I'm in the Full Liquid stage just fyi: Do your protein drinks count towards your total liquid intake? Or is your liquid intake only water? They would like me to get 3 protein shakes in a day with 64 oz of water. Haven't been able to make that happen yet. I'm around 300-400 calories a day. 3 days post op. Also the bloating and constipation are REAL.

You are ABSOLUTELY not alone. My bypass was on the 9th and I'm struggling to figure out hunger, fullness and the gurgling. And I keep taking sips that are too large. I used to gulp water and I really have to stay mindful so I don't feel sick. I've heard from others that its hard to gauge with liquids and things will be easier to understand once we get to puree and soft foods. Hang in there!

Good Luck tomorrow! I seriously am so excited for all of us!

Surgery day is tomorrow! 2 Weeks of 3 optifast shakes a day, low sodium broth, sf popsicles and jello. Cannot WAIT to get to the other side. Tbh, I was a little envious of the folks that were able to have chewable food during their 2 weeks. But it went by like that!

I'm so freaking excited for all of us!!!! Made it halfway through my 2 week liquid diet. Days 3/4 were brutal but its getting easier!

Thank you for asking this question. I've certainly wondered about this myself.
-
Congrats! To prepare myself, I've been cleaning the house, getting things organized and spending a lot of time having heart to hearts with myself. I've been journaling a lot and trying to explore how I'm feeling through this whole process. I haven't stopped walking everyday (on the liquid diet) and that also helps clear my head. I placed an order for smaller utensils, souper cubes (for freezing soups etc), an abdominal binder and mini mason jars to store the meal prepped food I'll make for the puree post-op diet. I just received all of my medications for the surgery and after surgery day so I'm organizing that as well. We are so close!

I'm June 9th! On my second day of the optifast liquid diet. I'm starting to feel that bit of hunger but I'm staying strong! Still have 12 days left and I'd love to hit 300 before surgery. I weighed in this morning at 305. 7 months ago I was 330. Things are happening!!!!
