    January 2025 Surgery Buddies!

Hello everyone. I'm 2 years post-op and was sleeved on 01/06/2023. I'm at goal and have been for awhile. I just wanted to pop in and say that I have no regrets. For the first time in 20 years, I am HEALTHY. Bariatric surgery is just a tool though, you have to follow your plan to see results and you HAVE to work on the "head hunger" because that doesn't go away with surgery. However, if you do your part. You will be pleased with the results. It feels wonderful to be on the "other side" of weight loss and maintaining. Best of luck!
  2. I'm a 40 y/o mom of 3. HW 265, GW 150, CW 142. Sleeved January 2023. I loss my first 90 lbs within 6 months of being sleeved and maintained for another 6 months (without quite getting to goal). Unfortunately, at the beginning of 2024 I had some health issues (unrelated to the sleeve) and had to have a total hysterectomy. I turned to my old comfort of eating and gained 20 lbs in 2 months. My appetite came back with a vengeance and my head hunger was getting the best of me. In a moment of panic, I seen my Dr and she prescribed Zepbound. OMG, where has this drug been my whole life?! I loss the 20 lbs. I gained plus the rest of the weight I needed to lose to get to goal weight within 5 months. Unlike the sleeve, Zepbound also helps with the head hunger which is an issue for A LOT of us. It's truly a miracle drug! I was on Ozempic pre-surgery for diabetes and it did NOTHING for weight loss so I didn't expect much from Zep but turned out pleasantly surprised. Despite severe constipation in the beginning, my side effects are minimal and manageable. I feel like Zepbound + my gastric sleeve was a match made in heaven. My health is the best it's been in 20+ years. Diabetes gone, fatty liver gone, triglycerides were high and are now in a normal range. My life no longer revolves around food and for once I feel "normal." I maintain with 10mg every 10 days and it's been working perfectly.
  3. I have no doubt he will. It's truly a miracle drug. Sent from my SM-S926U using BariatricPal mobile app

Bariatric Year End Review! Roll Call!

I reached my goal weight in 2024 and I'm almost 2 years post surgery. While I still enjoy food, I'm happy that my life does not fully revolve around food. I'm happy to move more and make better food choices because it makes me FEEL better. My health was on the decline due to my obesity. Now I'm healthy and living my best life.
  5. Check with your Dr. There may be options to get you back on track and losing.

    Pregnant!

UPDATE. I reached my goal earlier this year. I had a few setbacks along the way but I'm now 5'5 and 145 lbs. No regrets. Everything happened in due time. I'm just updating for those that may find themselves in a similar situation. Sent from my SM-S926U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. 2 weeks before my sleeve and I'm pregnant. Birth control fail. I cannot believe my life right now. All that work and testing for nothing. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. It's really not all that uncommon. They are 2 different meds that work differently . I'm just not sure why she needs both though. Tirzepatide is wonderful all on its own. Sent from my SM-S926U using BariatricPal mobile app

Less then 30 lbs to go...

Thanks everyone! I haven't exercised in about 1 month so I have to get back into that. I'm sure it will help. I'm incredibly happy with my weight loss, I just really want to get to goal. Mostly because I want to prove to myself that I can do it. I have loss large amounts of weight in the past (pre-surgery) only to get 20 ish pounds to goal and fall off the wagon so now that I'm close to that point... I'm afraid of a repeat. Although I keep telling myself that this time is different.
  10. Gastric sleeve on 01/06/23, Loss a significant amount of weight the first few months but only about 12 lbs in the last 2 months. I have less then 30 lbs to get to goal but I feel like this may take awhile. Any suggestions besides the obvious (consuming recommended protein, drinking water, counting calories, weighing/measuring food, exercise, etc.)

    Weight loss shots

I took Ozempic for about 2 years for diabetes. I loss some weight but the side effects were atrocious. It did help with my A1C though. Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. Don't blend it because it makes it more foamy. Use a shaker bottle and wait a few min for the foam to dissipate. Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Meal delivery service?

I've tried several meal delivery services and use them semi regularly (at least once a month). I've used HelloFresh, Blue Apron, Home Chef and Every Plate. Home Chef is by far my favorite but I liked them all except for Blue Apron. My only complaint would be the prep time which is why I like Home Chef the most as they have "fast" meals that cut down on the prep time.
  17. Give it time. You're still healing.

Post op and keeping food down

Maybe whatever you're eating just does not agree with your new pouch so early out.
  19. What is your favorite protein bars? Extra points if you post pics and nutritional info.
  20. Sleeved 01/06/2023 and as of today I'm 200 lbs even. I'm supppppper close to ONEderland! I eat between 800-1200 calories a day (usually about 1000 calories a day). I attend aqua aerobics 1x a week and try to walk at least 5 days a week. With a desk job, I have to make a conscious effort to move because I sit so much. Overall I feel great, I still deal with fatigue but I'm anemic so that's to be expected... and still less tired then I was pre-surgery. My post-op bloodwork all came back great (with the exception of my iron which has always been an issue). Type-2 diabetes in remission. 5'5 SW 265 LBS, CW 200 LBS, GW 150 LBS

    frustrated, stalled, and lost

You can try to incorporate high calorie (but healthy) foods into your diet. For example: Avocado, PB (super yummy on banana or apple), use evoo or ghee to cook and not cooking spray, etc.
  22. I was on Ozempic for diabetes and it works WONDERS for that. You do get full faster so weight loss can be a side effect. With that said, the side effects were just not worth the benefits for me. More often then not, I felt like crap. I took it years before my surgery though.
  23. Honestly, what works for me is 1 day where I consume more calories then usual. I eat foods that are healthy but higher in calories (butter in my eggs, a bigger portion of avocado, 2% milk vs skim, etc) so it isn't like a day of pizza and burgers. LOL. This has always worked for me both pre and post op. There is a lot of info about this online. It basically tricks my body and I usually have a nice loss after.

    Worried I won't lose enough

If you follow your plan, you will lose weight. You will get out of it what you put into it.
  25. April 6th will be exactly 3 months post op (sleeved 01/06/23). I'm down 60.6 lbs. Overall, I feel great. No food restrictions and can tolerate everything I eat. 1000 calories a day with a minimum of 80 grams of protein.
