Maybe you're just not eating enough?! For me, a boost in calories always breaks a stall for me. Both pre and post op.

5 days away from surgery and cheated
xoxoMeli replied to Krasavitza's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a medical professional. With that said, I imagine if you get back on track, you'll be fine. Just don't make it a habit of cheating. Some people only do 1 day of pre-op dieting so I imagine that there is a pretty good chance this will not ruin your chance for surgery but I would disclose this information to your surgeon and really buckle down for the next 5 days. -
Eating and drinking at the same time?
xoxoMeli replied to Krasavitza's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Food and liquids fight for space in your new pouch. You'll likely feel full and bloated and get hungry again sooner, but nothing too serious. LOL. It is my least favorite "rule" though. -
I can't say that I've ever been bored with food. LOL. I would recommend browsing the internet for fun, new recipes. I always get hyped to try new things. I like the website, www.skinnytaste.com but there are LOTS of different websites and recipes online.

PROTIEN BARS AND YOUR PLAN
xoxoMeli replied to heatherdbby's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't have this "rule" but I can understand it. It's best to get your protein from real, whole foods. Protein bars tend to be higher in carbs and calories. With that said, I like them and eat like 1 a day, most days. 2 months post-op today. -
I had a VSG on 01/06/23. I loss 38 lbs since the pre-op liquid phase. I consume 800-1000 calories a day and aim for 80+ grams of protein a day. I feel good. I haven't had any issues with any foods. Well except that I cannot tolerate protein shakes at all so I rely on protein rich foods. I can also tolerate unflavored Genepro in my Crystal Light and some protein bars.

I'm 5 weeks out and my Dr and Dietician said I should be consuming 800-1000 calories a day.

I had my VSG surgery on 01/06/23. I stood 1 night at the hospital. Gas pains were awful the first 3-4 days but then subsided. Almost 3 weeks later, and I feel great (no pain or discomfort!). My only complaint is that I tire easily. I've lost 30 lbs and am on soft foods. I do get hunger pains... like real hunger, not head hunger. I thought we didn't get that for a few months but I've been pushing through. Drinking my fluids and TRYING to get my protein in.

How did you choose your goal weight?
xoxoMeli replied to kbsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'5 and 150 lbs is the highest end of a "healthy" weight for my height. I got down to 168 lbs. about 5-6 years ago and while I looked good, I knew I had a few more lbs that I wanted to lose. -
7 day Pre- op Liquid diet starting on December 30th. Things are getting close!

Awesome job! You look great! Any tips for those of us in the pre-op stage?

I was January 20th but was just moved up to January 6th. Eeekkk! Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app

Well, I'm back! I have a new surgery date of 01/06/2023! My baby boy is amazing though! 14 months old now and perfect in every way so things happen for a reason!

Thanks. I'm going to call my surgeon today. I guess I'll be back in a year or so. Good luck everyone! Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Oh no. I'm sorry. Any idea when it will be rescheduled? Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I was diagnosed with diverticulitis on Friday. It was awful. I'm on antibiotics and feel a lot better now. I have pre-admission testing on Tuesday and a VSG scheduled for January 22nd. I plan to call my Dr tomorrow but will this affect my pre-admission testing? or worse yet, my surgery date? Ugh. After all the steps to get to this point, it will suck off things are postponed. Dr says it shouldn't effect my surgery and I can continue with my pre-admission testing tomorrow, as scheduled. Thank goodness! Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes! I'm tentatively scheduled for January 22, 2021. I'm 5'5" with a starting weight of 240-243 lbs (fluctuates) at 36 y/o. I'm excited and nervous but mostly excited! Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Thanks. I guess pudding, yogurt and applesauce is a snack but duh, it's also a puree and soup or shakes sounds like a good idea to substitute instead of meat for protein. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi all. I'm new here and still in the pre-op stage. With that said, has anyone skipped the puree stage? The idea of eating pureed foods makes my stomach turn. I have a major aversion to certain foods textures, I don't like cottage cheese or mashed potatoes for that reason and highly doubt I'm going to blend up some chicken and veggies and be ok with it. I'm almost certain I will gag and they will come back up. I'm wondering if I can do the liquid stage a bit longer. I know this is a question for my Dr but until then, does anyone have experience with this? Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

So I had a surgery date scheduled on the 1st day I seen the Dr for bariatric surgery (scheduled about 3 months later). I was giving a list of tests and specialists I had to see before a certain date to receive insurance approval. My EGD is in about 2 weeks. My surgery is January 22, 2021. When do you usually get a surgery date?
xoxoMeli replied to Amanda Purser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my surgery date on my very 1st appointment with the surgeon. Granted, I have to complete all of the pre-op testing and be cleared for surgery so there is always a possibility it can change. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hello everyone. I'm new here. I had my 1st appointment yesterday with the Dr and a surgery date of January 22nd, assuming all goes well with pre-operative testing. 36 y/o mom of 2. Current weight = 243, Goal weight = 150 and I'm 5'5. I'm excited but extremely nervous as well. I've been reading a lot and look forward to being a part of the group. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Thank you. I'm the queen of research. I research everything! I've been on the fence about surgery for about 2 years now. I actually had my initial consultation in February 2019 but chickened out so I've done tons of research prior to my 1st appointment but even so I'm sure there is always room to learn more. Hence the reason I joined this board. I look forward to the journey.
