    Any Long Islanders?

Hi Everyone. I would love to get together with some of you from Long Island. I am in Bay Shore/Brightwaters and think it would be a great idea. We could also plan to meet up at one of the support group meetings and then go out for coffee afterwards??? I was banded by Dr Geiss on Monday and they really are wonderful. I am feeling pretty good. I never really had pain, just discomfort. I lost 15 pounds the 7 days prior to surgery on the liquid diet and hope that's a sign of what's to come. Good luck to all of you and I hope we can all meet up soon. Lynette

    Does anyone else have pain?

I had the band placed on Monday and I was told yesterday that I have two hematomas. One on my left side high up in my rib cage and one on my lower left abdomen. They said they think it was caused by the blood thinners they inject pre and post surgery and sometimes the blood pools in certain areas, but will be reabsorbed by the body in time. A bulge on your left side that is not bruised could be really bad gas pains. Gas is a tricky thing and make you feel terrible pain. Hope that helps.
  4. I was banded on Monday and yesterday was the first time I felt OK. That was 4 days later. I am still having trouble sleeping flat and if I turn I feel like I am tearing something inside, but it's not a gas type of feeling. I am very sore too but it will get better. Yesterday I walked in Target for like an hour and that definetely helped. Today I am planning to take a walk with my kids. My doctor said that walking is key to your recovery, so I'll try anything to feel better.
  5. Hi Guys! A medicine cup works good too. It's actually good because it provides a measuring cup of how much you can tolerate. I was banded on Monday and this morning I actually was able to tolerate 4 oz of soup, but haven't been hungry all day, but it's progress. As far as picking up the kids, I have 3 year old twin boys who are very active and I show them the bandages and the bruising and since my abdomen is black and blue they seem to understand. They keep asking me if I'm better because they want me to pick them up, but that can not only pop your stitches it can give you a hernia. Be Careful!
