Alcohol (Wine) Post Op???
Mrs J.J replied to ImaGoofball's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I´d like to know this too. It´s summer days and while I don´t want to spoil the healing process of my surgery, it would be good to know if anyone knows when more or less it´s safe to have a glass of wine. -
MaryBee I´m confused, did you have a problem 8 months after having a fill? That doesn´t sound right.... please correct me if I´m thinking wrong.
-
So good to hear that you are doing so well. Please remember to try take it easy, you have just had surgery and while you may be feeling great today and your mind wants you to run around, your body needs time to recover. Relax a bit and save your energy but hold onto those positive vibes. :-))
-
Good luck to everyone being banded this week. You will be fine, special positive thoughts and vibes going your way.

I haven´t had a fill yet, my fill is scheduled for the last week in July. From what I have read the time from being banded to first fill is our healing time and we shouldn´t be that concerned about losing the weight. We need to concentrate on mending our bodies. So from first fill is when the real deal starts happening. Well that´s how I´m thinking. In the mean time, I´m eating healthy foods, trying to listen to my body and not over eat. Drinking lots of Water and getting out and about to walk. -
Having to sit up to sleep...
Mrs J.J replied to Babysoftly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started feeling like I could sleep normally at day 8. At first I couldn´t sleep on my left side at all, and then turning was painful too. I slept on my back and used my arms and legs to support me to get back up. It does get better, I promise. :-)) -
This has to be my most favorite thread on Lapband! I have smiled at each one of your achievments. Well done everyone. I am still very much in the early stages of my weight loss but I have 3 NSV´s that I am proud of so far. 1. I can wear both my wedding band and engagement ring on my finger. Before I could barely wear the ring. (Although my "real" wedding ring is waiting patiently for me to get smaller so I can wear the real diamonds again. 2. I bought a pair of 3/4 jeans a few months ago and the waist was so tight I couldn´t do up the zip. They now fit and look so good, my DH was checking out my a$$ yesterday and loving the way it looked. 3. Another pair of jeans that I bought, I could fit into them but they were so uncomfortable that I didn´t wear them. They are now lose fitting. I love these little achievements.

If it were me and had lost as much as you have already, I would use money from my savings to help keep me on track. You have a fantastic tool and you have come so far already. It just doesn´t seem worth it to let everything go and gain that weight back again.
-
Excuse me asking this, did you ladies stop having your periods because of your weight issues? I have never heard of this, so that is why I am asking.
-
I told my doc before surgery that I smoke. He asked me to cut down before surgery, which I did. When we spoke about smoking again, he suggested that I wait until I have lost weight before I tackle my smoking addiction. I would not lie about not smoking, it´s in your best interest that if anything goes wrong during surgery or after, that all the docs and nurses are aware that you are a smoker.
-
You had wine?? I have been wondering how long after surgery is it okay to have a glass of wine? You´re doing a great job Kevin!! Keep it up! I can´t wait to get home tomorrow night and see if I have lost anything this week.
-
Hi all, I´m wondering why we would have to give up sushi? I´m a sushi fanatic and I thought that the band restricts certain foods but this all depends on what your body can handle or not? It may be that some people cannot eat rice but others can? Am I missing something? *confused*

Hi everyone, just want to check in and see how everyone is doing. I´m on day 15 post op. I cannot believe how the days have flown by. I´m still on mushie foods and have been feeling a bit more hungry than the first week after getting my band. I will be heading back to Belgium with a friend of mine who will undergo the procedure with Dr Chris. I will be getting my first fill then. I am currently working away from home, so I don´t have access to a scale to see if i have lost anymore - but at this moment in time I am not worried about that at all. I just want to be healed inside so that I can get my first fill and then really make this tool of mine work for me. Good to hear from everyone that is posting. Keep up the hard work, we can do this!!

Quick question for everybody
Mrs J.J replied to boxerlover7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there lasthope, I went back to work last week Monday, that was a wrong decision. Stayed off Tuesday and Wednesday and went back Thursday and Friday. I am off to Switzerland on Monday for a full week of work. (I travel a lot in my job). At about day 8 I was able to sleep on my side. There have been times when I have tuned on my left side and felt a bit of uncomfort from my port. I´m still getting tired when I am out the whole day, but that is understandable I think. We have put our bodies through a lot and they are busy healing. Have you started on mushie foods yet? I was so happy to get something "real" to eat. -
I started on mushies today, boiled up a packet of low cal soup in quite a bit of water then added mash potatoe powder to thicken it. It was so yummy! Also blending veggies and adding it to veggie stock to make a smooth veggie soup.

What a roller coaster ride it has been!

Thank heaven you are okay. Hope everything heals quickly for you and that you are up on the go soon. -
Pleasr Help!! I dont know where I`m going wrong!
Mrs J.J replied to georgina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think we need to be realistic here. This band is not a magic wand. The weight is not going to fall off within the first 4 weeks. I am trying really hard to relax on weighing myself everyday. I am starting to realise that the weight will only really start coming off when I get my fills. Until then I am concentrating on eating healthy, doing some excerise and preparing my mind for a new way of thinking about food. It took me years to put this weight on, how can I expect to lose it all in 4 - 6 weeks, that is totally unrealistic. **This is me thinking to myself** -
blood thinner injections
Mrs J.J replied to angel95812's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had to do them for 5 or 6 days after being banded. It really is not bad at all. You just pinch the area around your naval and inject. I actually had my husband do this for me, it was easier for me to have him to do it. It´s really not that bad at all. Promise. -
8 days Post-Op... Incisions are itching! HELP!
Mrs J.J replied to Susie Girl 75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don´t know if this is an old wives tale or not, I´ve always been told that when wounds start itching it means that they are healing. I rubbed mine gently to relieve the itch from time to time. I also took the steri plastors off at day 8 to allow my war wounds to dry up. Check with your doc if that is okay to do. I´m stitch free as of today! Yippeeee!! -

Mrs J.J replied to Honeyduen's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I´ve seriously been so lucky, I don´t have any bruising what so ever. All my war wounds have scabs around them so that tells me I have healed really well. To add the details of your operation etc, click on USER CP, then edit signature and you can add it in the box that pops up. I find I am addicted to this board!! Help!! I´ve changed one addiction for another.....lol !! -
Quick question for everybody
Mrs J.J replied to boxerlover7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I don´t believe that a person should go hungry. If you are feeling like you need more, then make the right choices and eat something healthy that is going to satisfy you. Your body needs the food to lose the weight, if you are hungry your body will store your fats and it gets harder to drop those kilo´s. Try eating every 3 to 4 hours, maybe have your Soups and then later a smoothie, then your protien shakes etc etc. Don´t go hungry, that is not what this journey is about. -
I live in Sweden, I was curious if it it was a surgeon from the European area that did this, that is why I asked. Please keep us informed on how you are progressing. It would be interesting to hear from others that have had their band fitted by Dr Andre Nunn.
