Pregnancy & lap banding... Will my port show?
weightsmasher replied to Deenie's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I also am wondering the exact same thing. My port is right above my belly button. I have a strong feeling that it is going to stick out. I just hope my belly does not look deformed or that it affects the baby in anyway. I will keep you posted at to any changes. -
How many mths after band can I get preg?
weightsmasher replied to Irish10's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I have been trying to conceive for 5 years with no luck. One of the reasons I got banded was to loose the weight so that I could get pregnant. I had that talk with my lap band Dr. and he cleared me to try and get pregnant right away. I was banded on August 14, 2008 and I am now pregnant. I lost 30 lbs during during those 3 months and was able to get pregnant very easily. I am 31 years old and did not want to wait any longer. So far I am doing good.....I just pray that God will bless us and there are no complications due to the band. -

I am so so excited to announce this but I finally took a PG test this morning and it was POSITIVE!!!! I am so happy after 5 years of trying to conceive I finally was able to get pregnant. Baby dust to all of you. -
Any type of white flour is bad for you. A lot of people that have been banded can not eat bread because it gets stuck, I can eat it but choose not to. I would say in moderation everything is ok, but I would not do any white flour on a daily basis. What I do is I eat the insides of sandwiches, buritos, tacos anything that is carbs I leave out. Hope this helps!

:grouphug: I am so sorry that you didn't get your positive this month. But, hope is not over. Keep trying you might just need to loose a few more pounds and will get pregnant with no problems. I wish you luck....and I totally understand what you are going through. Well, as for me my AF was due on the 16 of Ocotber....I know I know....it's late!!! But, I am really scared and I don't want to take a pregnancy test because of fear of it being a BIG NEGATIVE!! The last two months my AF came right on time, and now it is late. I don't know if it is my PCOS coming back to me. My breast have been tender for the past week, my ovaries hurt at times and I feel really bloated in the afternoon. But, I just want to give it a few more days before I test. So wish me luck and I am hoping that the wait will be worth it and I get a BIG POSITIVE :pray2:!!! -

Hello ladies---here goes my TTC story. I had a handsome boy 7 years ago, and getting pregnant with him was no problem. I have always been very irregular and I think I have always had PCOS but I was still young and was average weight so getting pregnant was easy. After having my son I did not take good care of myself and ate everything in site and sat around and did not excercise. Since having my son I have not been on any type of birth control and get my period about every 4 to 6 months. The PCOS was getting worse, I had all the sypmtoms and the weight was making things worse. My husband and I have been wanting to have another baby but after turning 30 last year I started to realize that I was getting older and not only with PCOS but age would be against me. I made many attempts to loose the weight and always failed. I finally decided to get the lap band and was banded on August 16, 2008 so far I have lost 30 lbs and my periods have become regular for the last 3 months. I went to see my Gyno, yesturday and he gave me clomid to make sure I ovulate. I still have so much more weight to loose but my Dr. said witht he 30 lbs loss should be good to begin TTC. I really hope that I can become pregnant soon. I will keep you guys posted on my progress. -

As of right now for me it is both. I don't have a good restriction so I have to force myself to stop eating or not eat things that are not good for me. From what I have read in other posts is that once you have a good restriction it will be easier to stay on track and loose the weight. When I decided to get the lap band I knew that the band itself was not going to do the job. I knew that I had to change my eating habits and excercise a lot. What I hope that after the next fill I will have good restriction so that I can eat less...but still have to focus on eating the right things for me.

I can totally relate to you. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE food. Like you said I love all the flavors in my mouth. I was to the point that I would be full but continue eating just because of the wonderful taste. Also, I would be thinking about food while I was eating. During breakfast I would be thinking about what to have for dinner and for lunch and snack and as much food as possible. I still battle with this and it is more of a mental game. I have to stop myself and see my weight loss so far and talk myself into not eating. I have been loosing weight in a steady pace but I have know I need a fill soon because I am starting to eat more and if I let myself I can eat a lot. Just give yourself time, hopefully one day we can both say that food does not control us anymore.

Not sure about band....questions about energy levels etc
weightsmasher replied to Exmouth Lass's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can say for myself that my energy level has gone up. The more I loose the better I feel and have more energy to do things. I use to get off work, stop by the nearest fast food place, go home and crash on the couch and the next morning I still felt tired after sleeping around 9 - 10 hours per night. Now, I find myself going home and still have energy to clean around, cook dinner, wash laundry and can stay up later and in the morning wake up well rested. This is my experience and I know that everyone is different. I just know that I have way more energy. Good luck with making your decision!!! -
Congrats!!!! Keep up the great work!!

Don't give up. I did not loose any weight for 1 1/2 week, but I just stuck to eating the way I needed to and excercising and finally this week the scale has gone down. I did not believe it when people said that some weeks you loose pounds and others inches. But, I know believe it because during the week that I did not loose pounds I lost inches. My pants are starting to feel looser. So, don't give up!!! Maybe, you can call your sergoen and ask to see if your fill can be done any sooner. Good luck!!

does everyone have to have an upper gi?
weightsmasher replied to gitrdone's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have to have one. But then again I wish I had, at the time of surgery they found a hernia that had to be repaired. No major problems I just would have been better prepared for the recovery. -
I know it might be to much to ask for but have your husband cook. When I had my surgery I explained to my husband the seriounsess of me getting the band and how this was my last option to loose weight. I made sure he cooked for the kids and himself, if he didn't want to cook then the ate out. I stayed in my room most of the time especially during meal time for the 1st week. You need to take care of yourself and if your spouse supports you in this he will make the sacrafice and feed the family.

Things To Have On Hand Post-Op??
weightsmasher replied to jetsy62's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really did not need much as all I wanted to do was lay down and sleep. I would say make sure you have enough water, broth, protein shakes, jello. That is all I was allowed to eat the first week. Make sure you take your pain medication even if you are not in pain. I took the Vicodin for 4 days every 4-5 hours. I believe this helped me not feel so sick and got me through the rough days. I even had to call the Dr. for a refill, they approved it and so did the insurace. On the 5th day I felt better and only took it twice a day. Have not needed any kind of pain medication since then. Remember take it easy....this is your time to relax and let your body heal. Even if you feel good...take it easy!!
