Yeah first thing I thought when I woke up from surgery was "Did they do the operation, I feel nothing?" No pain just uncomfortable with the gas. I was released the next day. Hope your recovery goes smoothly.

weighing yourself is something I sort of dread. So I only do it once a week. Stalls happen, sometimes for weeks or months. Most important thing is not to deviate from your plan. Just keep doing what your doing. I heard exercise , less carbs , more water can maybe kickstart it. Even if that doesnt work its ok, just wait it out.

wow what a goal to achieve post weight loss. I wish I had a goal like that. Mine is just to overcome my crippling social anxiety lol.

I am in the liquid stage soon coming to the pureed stage. What portion sizes do you do for each meal ? It seems like a obvious question but my diet plan wasnt very clear on it. It mentions to measure out ur meals ... I dont feel much of a restriction to be honest, I just stop myself because I am afraid of puking. I imagine a couple of months out measuring meals is gonna be real important with my hunger coming back. thanks.

Hurtful reactions to progress
dal101 replied to skyewolfe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am extremely careful who I talk to about my weight loss surgery. But even then the jealousy or hurtful comments come out anyway. My mum keeps saying I havent lost any weight and that I have a fat face. It was totally unprovoked and I couldnt call her out because shes very dramatic. She once asked if the surgery would make me thinner than her... I managed to lose 4 pounds in a week a bit ago so I know I am making progress. Anyway, weight is a sensitive issue for everyone. Some handle it better than others, some not. In my case I cant avoid it with my mum but maybe you can by not talking about it to her. She doesnt need to know if she cant be happy for you . Happy for your BMI victory. -
Hi , My surgeon and dietician only told me to avoid fizzy stuff, nothing else. I am a recent post op so I am a bit paranoid about stretching my stomach. I just read somewhere else here that rice expands ur stomach. That really sucks, I am asian so rice is like a staple food to me. But I dont wanna eat it if it means stretching. What else causes stretching? Pasta!?

Hope it goes well, please update!

I dont react to OJ but the gagging and feeling like youve swallowed something terrible is relatable. I had that recently happen with a takeaway. I am glad you controlled it so quickly, mine went for hours. I am worried it might happen again like at work or something...

Hi, After my gastric bypass op , I recovered really well. I had little to none gas pain and could drink easily the day after. My surgeon commented that I looked like I hadnt had the operation because I was up and about doing well. I thought in terms of pain, I got lucky. SInce then I ve been eating solid foods earlier than expected ( I am now a month and a week post op. ) WELL. That changed yesterday. I had a kebab (I know I know, it was a one off takeaway. At least it had protein I guess) and it went down well. Until a couple of hours later, I was in agony ! The gas pain! The nausea! The 'stuck' feeling in my throat! Oh my gosh what a miserable experience. Couldnt sleep, tried to walk around , pain and vomiting ughh. I think the combination of eating too much (I didnt have all of it, only a third), too quickly and its oil content caused this. To think I was lucky to avoid this pain the first time around the op. I guess I needed to experience it to show I am still healing. Feel so stupid ! But I learnt my lesson. Gas pain is no joke.

Surgery abroad in europe
dal101 replied to dal101's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ah, its been sorted now and I had this done in the UK. Thanks But if you have information on going abroad please post it. It will be useful for other people looking at this for reference. -
Can anyone recommend gastric bypass surgery done in Europe? I am from the UK and am looking to go private .

I am losing 2lbs a week at the moment, my bypass was on the 31st oct. I am eating everything as 1/4th of a cup. What is everyone else's rate of losing?
-
I guess my monthly loss would be 8lbs , something to aim for I suppose. Its annoying when my lack of food intake doesnt reflect on the scale, but yeah I shouldnt worry about it.
-
I lost another 2 lbs this week, hopefully it remains steady, as stalls dont sound fun at all lol. I hope to do weight lifting when I reach a lower weight.

I was hungry alot during the liquid phase. Head hunger was bad, everything made me hungry. It was only finishing liquids I felt more content. Now on puree stage but to be honest I am eating solids here and there. But hunger feels more controlled.

Erm, I think some surgeons say carbonated drinks is a no no, so it depends. I imagine when you've reached eating normal textures then you can try. Alcohol has to be limited in quantity though.
-
Hi, thanks for the reply , much appreciated. I have my post op appointment this week so I am sure they will weigh me . They will probably echo what you said that 2lbs a week is ok. So far, I have noticed some clothes are a bit looser which is nice. Weight loss doesnt seem different to before, I am top heavy so I think thats where I will lose the most in inches. I guess its different for everyone . I am going to start exercise today because my incisions looks healed. I will try to jog but not over do it. My metabolism feels random, hopefully exercise will give it a kick. And thank you, you've done great weight loss yourself!
-
4lbs a week sounds great , I wish my rate was like that. But I understand everyone is different so... I am sure when everything is healed you 'll be losing more with exercise ! 800 cal sounds fair, I know getting in the protein is difficult at times. Keep up the progress!
-
Your weight loss sounds proportionate , congrats on it ! I was just a bit surprised I reached 2 pounds a week already. Better than nothing though.
-
Thanks, yes hopefully I can maintain this weight loss.
-
Thank you for the kind words. Yeah I was comparing to see where I stood with other people. But yeah its different for everyone. I havent started exercise yet to be honest so hopefully that helps.

Anyone for October 2020?
dal101 replied to barbieater's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My incisions have healed up nicely. On purees but have experiemented on other solid textures, seems to go down well. Trying to include more dairy and meat for protein, dont really measure out quantity other than a 1/4 cup of food. Didnt lose any weight last week gonna check this week if I have. Last injection is this saturday ! Which is great because its causing bruising . -
I am in the puree stage but have experiemented with some solids foods . I dont feel restriction either but definitely there has been times where it felt like something got stuck . I am sticking with 1/4 of a cup at the moment in terms of amount to eat. When I hit solid foods I will increase to 600 cals a day and so on. Increasing food amount is a given , gotta think about overall health and how it impacts your body.

Hi Recommended daily protein is 60-90 grams per person? I was recently watching a video by Dr Vuong and he mentioned trying to reach high number of protein grams per day will lead to regain. It was suggested reaching a lower number and in the comments values like 40 grams per day were mentioned. Thoughts?

Hi I am in the puree stage and I am beginning to feel my low calorie intake is catching up with me now as I feel really sleepy during certain point sof the day. Anything I can take to help with this? Thanks
