    Confessing my Sins...

First of all ((hugs)). You are completely normal and only confessing to being human - like you said today is a new day. I have been in a similar situation and trust me I get feeling like the weight of the world is on my shoulders and that even understanding and loving friends and spouses don't always feel like a safe space to unburden our worries. That said, I encourage you to keep looking for a therapist - they aren't all the right fit. I went through about 3 a couple years ago until I found the right person for me. Think of it as 'dating'... I don't have a life coach, but a career coach who thinks he's my life coach lol. Ultimately what helped me is to realize that I sometimes need a break and that it isn't selfish to recharge my batteries or put my oxygen on mask first as you say. And if all else fails, we are always here. Feel free to PM me (if there is such a thing on here) and I'm happy to share my number and personal story or just be an ear. Hang in there - you are not alone.
  2. Good luck! Let us know how you are after!
  3. I was sleeved on Monday 11/2 and felt pretty good by Thursday of that week. I'm 13 days out now and feel pretty normal. I made sure to walk even when I didn't feel like it, cough and use the spirometer-thingy and it helped. The first two days were quite unpleasant and I had to train myself to stop gulping my drinks, but it gets better. Good luck - you will be great!!!

    November 2020 sleevers

If it's like pre-op, they had the meds I'd need after surgery ready in the office and I paid for them and took them home. I assume it's the same. They'll be *handing them to me after I pay - they are pretty hands on.

Did you get to choose your mulitvitamin or did the docs prescribe/provide it? At my post op appointment tomorrow they said they are giving me a bunch of vitamins. I've added the nutrition handbook that I was given here as it lists them out Nutrition Handbook 1.4.pdf

I am so very sorry this happened. Has there been any followup from the hospital?

Morning all! Today marks exactly a week and I feel great. Still on liquids until at least Wednesday but so happy with my decision to get the surgery. Watching the kids eat was tough the first few days, but then I decided to focus on what I was gaining - GOOD HEALTH! Love reading all of your stories and posts - motivates me to keep going.
  9. I had surgery yesterday (sleeve) and have been freezing ever since - especially now that I am home? Has anyone else experienced this? Also, I live in Southern California so it’s definitely not the weather

Also I was told *not to expect a real BM for awhile - we aren’t eating any roughage and because surgery and pain meds slow digestive function. I’m super bloated, but I’m not worried. My insides have just went through a major trauma and it takes a while to heal from that. I’m reminding myself to be kind to myself and not to rush the process - we got this!!!

Thank you! Happy belated to you! Yes - some soft stool BM and another weird one but I think I’m officially constipated. My stomach is bruised - I think the docs said it was the heparin injections given to prevent blood clots

Ugh the gas is no joke. I'm about to get my 30 minutes in (even though I have not rested much today, lol) It helps. Also try some peppermint or ginger tea - the nurses recommended that in the preop class. Good luck. This too shall pass.

Surgery twin! I think so - just remember the small sips... I have to keep reminding myself of that and the fact that we may not want the liquid but our body needs to be hydrated and we need the protein. I am trying to be as strict with myself as I am with my kids when it comes to medicine they don't want lol Hang in there!

I'm not hungry but on Wednesday it was hard to see my boys eat and not want it. Yesterday was better (although I was craving all sorts of broths lol - matzo ball soup, pho, and today I had some from tom yum soup. I had a few types of different flavor protein drinks arrive today that I'm looking forward to for the weekend.

They gave me a bottle of liquid hydrocodone at my pre-op appointment and I only take it at night. I agree that lying flat helps - I have a small pillow that I wedge under my stomach or I just sit up. I'm not allowed to take any tablets - they even told me to crush my BP meds and add to a bit of protein drink before I take them. So funny all of the different advice.

I just ordered a food mill from Amazon for the soft foods stage (ie thanksgiving). I can mince a little turkey, gravy and sweet potatoes for myself. Maybe not the sweet potatoes because they will be loaded in butter but turkey for sure.

    November 2020 sleevers

Hi all, Ive been home for about 24 hours since my surgery. Other than being cold, a little sore and slow - I feel great and am so glad I did it. I had a “low for me” BP reading for the first time in ages. Since that and my type 2 diabetes were the main reasons I wanted the surgery, I’d say it was a success. Friends have been pitching in and providing dinner for my kiddos and work sent flowers and chocolates - not sure what that is avoiding since they know I had bariatric surgery - 🤷🏽‍♀️ But the kids are happy
