I was the super skinny girl growing up who never had to worry about weight. Fast forward to my late 20's and I was having trouble conceiving my second child due to my recently diagnosed PCOS. About a year after my baby was born my weight and blood pressure began to slowly creep up so much so that I began to dread going to the doctors due to both the scale and BP reading. 
In May of this year a weird feeling had me going to the Urgent Care where the doctor gave me a choice of going directly to the ER or having her call 911 - my BP was 212/102 which was classified as a "hypertensive event" it took a full 24 hours to bring it down and after continuous EKG's and stress tests, I was cleared to go home with news that I was also officially diabetic. This happened to be Mother's Day weekend and one of the last weekends at our family home as I also happen to be divorcing... 
My boys and I moved into our new home Labor Day weekend and I instantly felt at peace and determined to live the life that I want. I have been dedicated to our mental well being and have been seeing a therapist and now I'm determined to stop whining about my weight and health and make the necessary changes to be around for my boys (and MYself) for a very long time. So this year I'm giving myself the gift of health and hope for a future I deserve.
