I'm 67, also scheduled for 11/2. Also scared about Covid, but I'm planning to talk to my doc at my pre-op about it. I have to have a covid culture 3 days before surgery. I plan on bringing a mask and wearing it when anyone is in the room, and will also bring hand sanitizer since I won't be jumping in and out of bed to wash my hands. It might be referred pain from gas trapped under the diaphragm. If so, it should resolve in the next few days. Can you sleep propped up a bit to alleviate the pain?

Well, today I made it my mission to walk 2 miles and I got that done. As soon as I got home I got a call that help was needed to pass out campaign materials, so I went back out, and the combination has me over 9000 steps, and I'll get 10,000 by tonight, if it kills me. "My doc wants all his patients to get 10,000 steps every day." Yikes AZ Hiker! Your doc is my doc, and pre-op, I'm not getting close to that! I usually between 3500-4000 steps per day on my walk which is around 40 minutes long. How did you handle that this summer when it was so hot? It's cooler now thank God, but still warm. Also, I'm so thirsty after my walk that I have to chug at least 8 oz of water when I get home, and then finish off my 20 oz bottle while I'm cooling down. I won't be able to chug like that postop. I am almost twice your age, have been struggling with my weight for 44 years. I had PCOS too, eventually developed hypertension and type II diabetes. I had to take fertility drugs to get pregnant with my second child and never was able to get pregnant again. I've yo-yo dieted for years. Now I am waiting to get insurance approval for the gastric sleeve. I say GO FOR IT!!! Don't waste years of your life hoping that this time this diet or that diet will work. Thank you so much! I’m glad your postop period went well. I’m hoping I’ll have the surgery before Thanksgiving so I can avoid that food marathon. It’s hard to imagine cutting food intake so much, but I mainly worry about water intake. I live in Arizona, and thankfully it’s getting cooler, but I drink a lot of water. I’m having a hard time figuring how I’ll get enough water to stay hydrated. Are you just sipping water or protein shakes all day long?
