I appreciate all your kind words! Nice to have someone my age to talk to! Love the picture of the dog. Is it yours. I have four dogs!
Take care

I am so glad I found this site! The more I read here I find it is not unusual for family not to support their bandisters. It seems mine are nott the only ones who have gotten nasty. I have only told my very best friend, son's and daughter-in-law. You all and my best friend are the one who supports me and gives lots of encouragement. I am very fortunate to have you all! Continued success to all of you! Thank you

My 31 & 32 year old son's have not been supportive about my surgery. I like to think I always had a good relationship with both of them. I feel I have gone above and beyond with both of them. Perhaps that is the problem, I have spoiled them rotten. I could write pages on the comments they have made about the surgery but I will just give you the high-lites. Today, my youngest son said that he and his brother thought I would never be able to handle it. He asked me if I realized what I would have to give up. I have researched this for over a year and have told them many times I would have to say good bye to bread, Pasta, rice and the hardest of all diet soda. He said I am not being relalistic and will not be able to cope. Not to mention how incapacitated I will be because of the surgery. How I wont be able to get out of bed! I explained that I had to get up and walk. It didn't matter what I said the bottom line is he is waiting to say I TOLD YOU SO. My oldest is no better. I will just give you the worst thing he has said "so help me Mom if you don't lose weight or gain it back I will get a gun and shoot you in the head!" Of course when I got very upset! :confused2: He said it was a joke. JOKE ?? YEA RIGHT. WHO SPEAKS TO THEIR MOM LIKE THAT? :w00t: I Don't have say another word to my youngest as he lives far away but unfortunately I need to rely on my oldest to take me to and from surgery. I know I will prove them wrong but my heart is broken  that they would react this way. Thank you for letting me get this off my chest.

Thank you both. You are so kind. I am going to prove them wrong. Do you thing they are too old to put up for adoption?

Guacamole is not low cal. While avocados are a healthly fat they are high in calorie. Maybe cut back on the amount you are adding. Good luck. It is way to early to be upset about a lb. It could just be sodium in your soup causing you to hold water. You will start losing soon.

di1138 replied to blackcherry2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BUT if you are very concerned remember your doctor did not do this for free. Call him! Good Luck. -
Best of luck to you! Stop by and say hi once in a while!

Ibuprofin comes in a liquid form for children. I wonder if a little of that would be okay for extreme pain. I am putting that on my list of questions for the doc.

What has weight kept you from doing?

It keeps me from doing everything~ Cant wait to start feeling like doing everything~ -
I dont mind seeing some of the questions several time because you can learn new things from the answer. The one I agree with you the most on is "why am I not losing weight?" Unless they have a very serious medical condition it always comes back to CALORIES. I didnt get to 250 by eating 900 calories a day! Starvation mode does not keep you 6 months at the same weight. Just ask those who live in 3rd world countries.

Dr Carson Liu- Los Angeles anyone??
di1138 replied to di1138's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Anne, I am scheduled for surgery on Aug 22 with him. I really liked him since he took his time and did not rush me. He does not have much of a pre Op liquid diet, only 3-7 days. He does encourage you to do the 7. The nutritionist I spoke to was just okay. I was not impressed with her. She didnt give me a good answer regarding Protein intake. I will speak to him in detail about all the diets from liquids to food, at the preop appointment. The day I was there I spoke to a woman in the waiting room who was one month out and almost 45 lbs lighter! She was very happy with him. Good luck! Diane -

Belly button ring in or out?
di1138 replied to fivestar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL Bttrfli , that is what I was thinking. I cant even find my belly button. I know it is there somewhere! Back to the original question. There are many reasons not to wear it. Infection and getting lost being the two biggest. -

UUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! Non supportive family
di1138 replied to pstroud100's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I spent the weekend upset with my Sons and their attitude regarding my surgery. My oldest can not find a good thing to say. He tells me about all the negative stories he sees on the internet. He also told me that the positive stories are written from the doctors who preform the surgery. ( my son is 31 not 12!) He and his wife were supposed to take me out this weekend for my birthday dinner. I refused to go and be judged by him. Both my sons have been concerned about my weight but do not support the surgery. I think they are both looking for the opportunity for some thing to go wrong so the can say"I told you so". All I can say is we have to do what is best for us and the hell with them! -
There is very little nutrition in frosted flakes. How ever I have to admit they taste G R E A T!

How long did you wait to drive after surgery?
di1138 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I hope to be banded late August or early September. How long did the doctor tell you to wait before you could drive again? Thanks! -
Oh Boy...Having spent last night and today upset with family members I can truly say I feel your pain. Mine is not as viscous as your sister was to you but I believe it hurt as deeply. She is definitely the one with the problem. IF she tries to speak to you again do not tell her anything about your family. Refuse to speak about your weight with her. She owes you a hugh apology. Just because she is your sister doesnt mean you have to like her. Like my Dad used to say " you can pick your friends, you can pick your nose  but you cant pick your family". Concentrate on the things and people that are important to you. She is toxic and can only bring you down. Best of luck and lots of positive thoughts out to you!

Congratulations! 9 days out and down 21 lb!:wink2: -
It is not Vanity It is your Health. My husband had a stroke at age 56 as a result of high blood pressure and being over weight. He is paralyzed on his left side. The last 5 years have been very hard on both of us. I am very happy to hear that you do not have any health problems. Keeping that in mind perhaps you will be able to lose weight on your own and keep it off. For me I know I have lost and gained the same 100 lbs at least 4 times in my life. In between I have gained and lost various amounts of weight. My health is now in jeopardy and I am certain that this will be to tool to help me reach my goal. Good luck to you what ever you decide.

I also think that a lot of us stretch out are big size clothes. I know if I want to buy clothes I need a bigger size than I am wearing now. So my theory is when we lose we actually buy the correct size.

Prayers needed for a fellow bandster
di1138 replied to hootiebelle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Joan, know you have many people thinking about you! Hang in there. I am so sorry you have to go through all of this. My prayers are with you. -
LOL Thanks for asking! I read the post regarding them and had no idea what they were talking about! I kinda got the idea it could be the folds of skin way down there but i didn't understand how they would gain weight and need plastic surgery. I was to embarrassed to ask!! I hope some one explains.
