    Let's do It! Right?

I was banded in 2008 and had a great first 6 months -- but then I moved away from my surgeon and never really had restriction. Then, I started throwing up several times a day, no matter what I ate. Some days I could eat something, then next day it would get stuck. I had my band removed in December and was sleeved 2 weeks ago. Best decision of my life.
  2. all told, i likely walked about 30 minutes a day the first week -- but in 10 minute increments. my first week was so much harder than I had expected it to be. I'm 12 days out now and have walked for about 45 minutes each of the last three days. My energy has come back and then some -- not where I would have expected myself to be this time last week.

    Day of surgery nausea

there is also an anti-nausea patch -- it worked wonders for me.
  4. this sounds like you are eating past being full.
  5. my surgeon has a 6 week ban on air travel after surgery. i'd check in with your doc.

    Help, I'm so lost!

your doctor isn't a quack -- our surgeons and our bodies are all different. i had only a single day pre-op diet (clear liquids) but am on full liquids for 3 weeks. My surgeon extended his normal 2 week full liquid diet for me b/c I had a particularly challenging surgery and he wants to give my stomach extra time to heal. continue to take it easy and follow your surgeon's instructions but, most of all, listen to your body.
  7. god, me too. i am also 9 days post-op and have two more weeks on liquids.
  8. I'm a week post-op and still on my liquid diet. In general, I've started getting around 650-700 calories a day via Protein shakes. In general, I'm able to get in around 60-70g of protein, 45g carbs, 10-12g fat and 9gram of sugar. I've been able to get in my full 64oz of Water starting around day 5 post-op. I'm not sure if I should be eating fewer calories -- what are you guys doing?
  9. I am on a a few Facebook groups. Feel free to email me here if you'd like to chat!
  10. Thanks, @NancyNYC! BTW, Dr. Fielding did my lap-band surgery years ago! I ended up having to revise to a VSG, but not b/c Dr. Fielding wasn't an amazing surgeon.
  11. I am 8 days post-op and got hit with a giant wave of depression this morning. I had a great first week (lost 8.7lbs) and this week I've lost .2lbs. I am worried I am getting too many calories since I can drink 64oz of water and get in all my protein for the day. Hunger isn't really a thing, but I find myself browsing recipes kind of obsessively on Pinterest. Thank you for posting, @NancyNYC -- I am sorry you are struggling but it helps me to know that I am not the only one.
  12. @Navigating the Wilderness Some doctor's do it as one procedure, mine did not. Apparently, if you do the procedure as an all-in-one revision, the risk for a leak doubles to 2%. As it is, my sleeve is a little bit larger than a "virgin" sleever -- because of the band, the surgeon doesn't feel comfortable making the sleeve as small.
  13. I had my band out in December and my sleeve was done last week. Like you, I also have PCOS. The band removal was a super simple surgery; the sleeve surgery was a bit harder. I did gain 5lbs between the band removal and sleeve procedures. But, after I had healed from the band removal, I did go a little crazy for a week or two. If you stick to a normal, healthy diet you won't gain anything.

    WTH! Hungry?!

I'm post-op day 6 and the hunger came back yesterday. it wasn't insane -- i just definitely noticed it was there. just like the posters above, i gave myself a little shot (like 2oz) of smoothie and was instantly full. from everything i've read here, this is a totally normal part of the healing process. now, if only i could get this non-stop headache to go away!

    Help please [emoji20]

the pain has been bearable for me -- not comfortable, but definitely tolerable. that said, the headache and general wooziness was really tough on me. i'm five days post-op and i'm finally beginning to feel normal again. ironically, as the headache and the wooziness goes away, I am more aware of the soreness from my big incision. stay strong and know you have a whole community of people out here cheering you on.
  18. I'm five days out and really have not had a lot of pain -- my menstrual cramps are way worse. for me, though, the lack of energy and feeling out-of-it has been the hardest part. it seems like we all have unique experiences.
  19. yesterday was my first day home and i managed to get in all 64ounces. it did take all day, tho.

    3 days post

Today is day 3 for me. I'm definitely building strength as the day does on -- I've managed to get down 10 ounces of protein shake. I can tell this is going to become a full time job (getting in my protein) for the next few weeks. Thinking of all my fellow sleevers today -- thank you all for your support, insights and friendship.
  21. on my way to the hospital now. i'm thinking of all y'all.
  22. I am tomorrow as well. This will be my third surgery and the last two have been a total breeze -- not sure why I am so freaked out by this one. I'll be thinking of both of you tomorrow.

    Nervous and Afraid

my surgery is on monday -- and i'm feeling the same way as you. really wondering if i have made the right decision. i'll be thinking good thoughts for you.
  24. I just had my band removed on Tuesday -- my doctor does it as a two step procedure. I have to say -- this surgery was alot easier than my previous surgery.
