Goal rewards—suggestions?
GivinItMyALL replied to GreenThumb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I am down 100lb, I'm having a mini spa "day" (may be more than a day depending on when I can get appointments). An esthetician friend of mine said she would gift me a facial, waxing, and pedicure, and I also plan on getting a massage and a haircut. My goal is 120lb down... I'm not sure what I'm going to do at goal yet. 31lb till -100... 😁 -

How do you handle the "How much have you lost" question?
GivinItMyALL replied to FindYourFire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only had those who know I had the surgery (not many folks, and only the family I live with) ask me, and I just go ahead and tell them. I don't get out much though. If anyone else asks, I may say I dunno... that I don't weigh myself (lie). Those I definitely do NOT want to know about the surgery will get the "I am on a medically supervised diet" line, along with an "oh, I think it was about X lbs down at my last appointment." -

That happened to me. Told my surgeon, and he put me on omeprazole. It's been helping.

You're looking fantastic!

How cool! I think I am going to have to take a long, hard look at my body, and see just where some of the weight is coming off, because I have lost nearly 60 lbs and only went down one pant size... Seems like it should be a little more, but... it isn't. I think I have lost some back fat (yay), and I HAVE noticed the underarm and pubis thing, so that is good... I HOPE my hooded eyelids become less hooded like yours! -

I cannot even IMAGINE 1200 calories a day right now Yesterday, I ate about 800, and that is the most I have eaten since surgery... glad your stall broke, though! Eating 800 yesterday broke a short stall for me as well... I dunno if it was the higher calories or the higher carbs that did it.

I still can't imagine eating all that lol... Fortunately, I haven't had a stall yet (knocks wood). I have a couple bites of meat aaaand... Done for that meal.

Hurtful reactions to progress
GivinItMyALL replied to skyewolfe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I never *started* sharing with some people... like my mother. I know how she would react, and am not willing to deal with it. If I get asked, I'm on a medically supervised diet. -
I can't even fathom 1200 calories at 2 weeks. I think I averaged like 300-400 at that point lol... At just over 7 weeks, I now average maybe 650? How can you cram in more calories? I physically just cannot eat that much!

I am perimenopausal at 48, so my periods are now unpredictable... I think the surgery may have made it worse for me LOL... I also had an endometrial ablation about 11 years ago, so "normally" my periods were just wiping pink - I didn't need to use any tampons/pads. My first period after the surgery was SO HEAVY, it was nuts... then the next one never happened (still hasn't, so I guess I skipped it). I am guessing it is from all the estrogen trapped in fat that is being released or whatnot... people say hormones get real wonky after the surgery.

Hello, Jori! 990ml isn't too bad to start out with, but really try to get in more so you don't become (if you're not already) dehydrated. Try room temperature, a little colder, and ice cold... see which you tolerate best. In the VERY beginning, I could only tolerate absolutely ice cold water, otherwise I would get terrible hiccups. That has changed and I can have all temperatures now with no problems. You definitely need more protein than what you're getting from one container of FF Greek yogurt, though. Have you tried protein shakes (that would help get in more liquid as well!) or adding some unflavored protein powder to your yogurt? If walking is really bothering you, I would maybe suggest holding off on that for now, until you are getting in more calories per day. I don't think your weight loss in the first month is *too* extreme for having had the surgery. It will slow down All the best to you, and keep us posted! -

I use the free app Baritastic, because I like how you can put in really small portions (1oz, 1TBS, etc) of your food. It does the net carbs mentioned above, tracks water, supplements, etc. I like the recipe feature, and the barcode scanner has only NOT found one item so far (it was something sent to me from Puerto Rico). When it didn't find it, it asked me to add it by taking a photo of the front of the item and the nutrition label, and they would add it to their database in a few days. I thought that was nifty. Don't Want to Tell Family with a Twist
GivinItMyALL replied to Elinor1811's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There are many people (including my mother) I am not telling for various reasons. When I eventually see them, I will likely use the "medically supervised diet" explanation, as it is not a lie. -

So looking forward to when I will start some weight training (I am one of those who is going to wait until I am mostly to goal -- when I am actually putting more food in my body to sustain the extra energy output). I don't care if I gain a few pounds from it. Those pounds will take up less space I always like the visual of a pound of feathers takes up a LOT more space than a pound of iron. Looking great, man! -
Finally Sleeved and looking forward to the future!

Welcome to the "losers' bench" I am really sorry you had to go through so much from such a young age. I started gaining weight after starting birth control pills my senior year of high school. People started wondering (not so silently) if I was pregnant, when I was still a virgin at the time. Ugh... went up and down in weight my entire life. The only times I could successfully lose was if I had something SIGNIFICANT coming up -- wedding, HS reunion, etc. Tired of the up and down, and adding in pain from fibromyalgia and foot/ankle complex issues, I got determined and got sleeved this year on 2 Nov. It's been... interesting... but I am doing fairly well so far, and looking forward to being able to MOVE better! I already experience FAR fewer fibro flares, and my foot isn't aching 24/7. Looks like you're doing great so far!! ❤️
