Please give me yummy mushy food ideas! I am three weeks out and on soft foods only and ALL I want to eat is some kind of carbs and crackers and REAL FOOD!!! What are you guys eating that is making you feel like you’re eating real food? I’ve made chicken meatballs and had turkey burgers and I’m just going crazy. Trying so hard to make this work, but I’m supposed to be on soft foods only for three months and I have no idea how I am going to go three months without a cracker or something.

I’m on a liquid diet for the first week. I did fine with protein shakes the first couple days but now I’m feeling I need more. I know of broth and Jello but what other ideas do you guys have for a liquid diet?

Anyone had a revision to original gastric bypass?
Jsteelecat posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had a revision to an original gastric bypass surgery. I’m going in and having my pouch made smaller. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and what my outcome might look like. Thanks -

Hi Misty, I am in NYC. I saw Dr Chaio at Mercy Medical center on Long Island. He was the only one at the NY Bariatric group that would take my insurance. But the NY Bariatric group routinely does revision surgeries so if you have private insurance you can check them out! -

Thanks I’ll have to check it out -
I ate soooooo much yogurt during the purée stage because I simply couldn’t handle puréed meat. Instead I did yogurt and pudding and applesauce and all things puréed that were allowed except meats. I basically was getting all my protein from high protein yogurt (like Greek or Skyr) and protein shakes.

Personal question for the ladies only!
Jsteelecat replied to skyewolfe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately yes, it will get saggy. I lost 166 pounds and it’s definitely large and saggy down there. the good news is if you go for a tummy tuck procedure they can lift the mons and make it much more presentable down there. But basically I have this gross little sac of saggy flabby skin. I hate it. I am also in my 30s so if you are younger you may have more elasticity in your skin. -
Yes!!! I did end up doing that and it was so much better!!

My first gastric bypass I was told that I cannot eat soup after surgery. However I have no such limitations this time around. I also see many soups in the store. I was wondering how people felt about eating chunky soups after surgery.

Thank you for the amazon tip!!

Do you have a specific brand or anything you like?

What a great idea!!! Going to pick some up!

No I haven’t tried those!! I’m checking out the bariatric store now. I’m definitely in the mood for something with a different flavor. Thanks so much for the recommendations.

I am just struggling massively right now due to my pre op diet. I am constantly hungry and so tired of the liquids and just not in a good mental place. I feel like I’ve chosen the wrong time to have my revision and worried the surgery isn’t even going to accomplish anything. The wish to eat food is just SO strong and I feel so angry and anxious all the time. I’m just wondering how I’m ever going to make this succeed. I have two more days until I go in for my surgery and am hoping that at least the restriction will make this a little easier as I won’t be constantly starving. just really struggling right now.

Hi everyone, I’m having gastric bypass revision surgery on October 15th and have been doing my liquid diet. Aside from being constantly hangry which is its own version of suck I also feel like I’m in a brain fog. I feel like my brain is simply not processing things as it should. I’m also super irratible which I at least understand. The brain fog tho is really getting to me. Also for some reason I have slept through my alarm twice which I have never done before. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar. It’s making things difficult.

I honestly was fine after surgery and didn’t need to adjust my dose. I had it in 2012 and I did fine. My Effexor definitely reacted differently post surgery and I found I could not forget to take it AT ALL or I would quickly go into withdrawal. I didn’t have any issues with lamictal tho.

regaining and undoing their surgery

Yes you can absolutely gain the weight back. I had my gastric bypass surgery done october of 2012. I did well for about four years, lost my job, went through a major depression and just didn’t care any more. I stopped doing everything I was supposed to do and turned back to food by overeating, drinking with my meals, eating whatever I wanted and just absolutely not following the plan. I started at 366, lost down to 200, and am currently back to 320. I am going in to have my stomach resized because I stretched my pouch and I am having my stoma tightened because I stretched it out as well. Stretching the stoma means that my food does not stay in my stomach pouch at all and I am constantly hungry. Stretching my pouch out means I could eat a lot more food than I could when I first had surgery. Both of those things together plus my disregard for the rules lead to the weight re gain. If I can tell anyone anything it’s to not get complacent. Don’t think that your surgery can’t fail because it completely can. You have to work the process every single day and stay on track. The surgery is just a tool. I pray with my revision I can lose some of the weight and hopefully not mess it up this time. It’s super disheartening to go through everything and have it fail only years later. -

Wow!!! I hope it works for you too. I am really praying also that it works for me. I originally lost 160 pounds but have since gained so much of it back. I know I have a long way to go but I’m really hoping for a good outcome. 9 pounds is a great start! -
Revision surgery pre op diet
Jsteelecat posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am having revision surgery in October. Going in to have my pouch made smaller and the hole made smaller. I’m super nervous because I’m hungry ALL THE TIME. I have no idea how I am going to make the pre op liquid diet for two weeks. Does anyone have any tips? Has anyone had success with a gastric bypass revision? -

I haven’t started yet!! October 1st is my start date. I’m going to be getting different kinds of the premier protein to figure out which ones I like best!! Others have said the first days are the hardest too. I’ll keep that in mind thanks for your input! -

Ok so you did this and your surgeon said it was fine. This makes me feel a lot better because I did want to kinda have a ‘goodbye’ dinner. I feel like it will be nice to do before and give me something to look forward to in the two weeks. Thanks so much for your input!
