    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I feel like a baby! But we’re all different and it’s like my body can handle no pain at all anymore. My family says they see incremental improvements, so I’m hopeful! Like I’m back on here I could do that at first. Yay!

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

Today is a new day! I’m still in a lot of pain I’m going to call in to adjust my meds. I have serious back issues. I hadn’t laid on my back in years. I now am sitting in a recliner unless I’m up walking and I think that’s part of my pain. I was on Percocet before surgery 3 times a day just to keep my nerve pain/back pain in check. I’m a lower dose of Tylenol and pain pill then before surgery. It’s not working... I’m going to see if I can change dose or meds . Hopeful I feel better soon!!

It’s on my right lower abs. Interesting how different and the same things are. My doctor requires 2 nights too, but insurance refused... I definitely wasn’t ready to go home! But it’s been okay.

I didn’t have a drain put in, my insurance would only cover a 24 hr hospital stay. They did push fluids hard core. So I’m curious about the orange sized pit. Maybe that’s normal? Is it hurting you still? Period on top?!? That’s not even playing fair! Hope you see the fluids drop soon!

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

Well I’m through! I’m in serious pain. I have to have help to get up, down, use the bathroom... I signed up to be part of a study, it was for pre and post-op blood work and a few fat cells removed during surgery. I didn’t expect a few fat cells would turn into an orange size scoop out of my stomach! So advice, say no!!! to studies with vague language like few fat cells!!! I think this is the cause of all my pain. My other incisions are almost no pain at all!! I finally was able to have a few bowel movements today. Whew! I haven’t thrown up yay! I’ve eaten and drunk water way less then I should. But today, I’ve kept down 4Tbls chicken puréed with broth and protein supplement. About half a protein shake and about 17 oz of water. I didn’t expect the intubation tubing they did during surgery to cause my nose to be so gross. Which has caused sneezing = Pain. I was like why did I do this!! But I was able to step on the scale yesterday so 2.5 days post surgery and I’d lost about 5 lbs! It has helped to know this pain has a purpose. I’m being very specific because I think the better prepared we are for surgery the better we will recover. Thanks for everyone’s support!

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

Tomorrow is the day for me! I go in at 12:30 PM. I’m having the worst cold feet!! I’m scared and struggling, I want the long term help this brings, but I’m afraid I’m going to fail. I’m afraid I haven’t changed enough. Like I said, major cold feet. I keep telling myself it’s going to go just fine and the bad days or minutes are just that and I’ll pick myself up and keep moving forward. My problem is I’ve thought that a million times before with other lifestyle changes and they didn’t work, obviously, I’m having surgery tomorrow. A part of me thinks, I can just do this myself, so silly!! After 20 years of doing this myself here are my results! Time to suck it up and follow through. I’ve been thinking about and started 3 other times to have gastric bypass. why the long post? Please my fellow travelers, help me be strong and follow through not just tomorrow, but all the days that follow!!! Hoping each of you are having success today wherever you are in this experience!!

    Not losing weight

Number one as everyone will say, call your doctor and ask advice. but so you can sleep tonight, here are some of my thoughts...Sometimes over working out can be hard on the body and make it hold onto everything. How much cumulative time are you working out each night and what activity/exercise are you doing? Also, as I’m sure you know, stress(if I could underline it I would) makes our bodies dump chemicals that shut down our metabolism and hold onto every drop of food. Have you ever tried meditating? Maybe swap one of the 3 work outs for a meditation. There is starting to be medical evidence that meditation can lower blood pressure, reduce stress and other beneficial side effects. Bottom line, who knows exactly why your body is behaving this way!?! But, hang in there, even if you plateau all the way to surgery. Your body will adjust and plateau throughout the process. It’s something we all struggle with and have to endure. You can do this!!! I’m cheering for you!

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I mostly eat that way. The problem after surgery is so little food. It makes it hard to get the protein grams in a few tablespoons of food. I’ve always preferred to eat at least vegetarian. I’m not sure how to handle this. I’ve bought plant protein non flavored powder supplement, hoping this will work. I think vegetarian would be easy with eggs and dairy to increase protein. I don’t do well with dairy... but there are so many dairy alternatives now. What I’ve found is they have higher carbs/sugar or fat to “fix” the flavor. Bottom line, I totally support any healthy eating that works for you. Let us know how to support you! You got this!!
