    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

It will / already has!! I can do dishes without excruciating back pain already! I also have slept on my back some... the problem is I have permanent nerve damage. Part of the reason I got Bariatric surgery was so I can have another surgery where they implant into my back a nerve blocker. I had to do this 1st because they imbed it into the fat in my back. They knew I was on the path for Bariatric surgery and wanted my fat on my back to be stable otherwise I would need another surgery to reposition the nerve blocker after I lost weight... so it’s a process and I’m praying if I lose enough the nerve pain will be bearable and I won’t have to have that surgery!!

I just wrote a book as a response 😂 and thought the same thing. Meds! Ughh. I don’t take iron seperate. It’s part of the chewable vitamins my surgeon recommended. I take one pill 4x a day spread out so I absorb more. Bariatricfusion vitamins. Who knows what my body doesn’t like in them... thanks for the feedback! This has helped me walk through everything instead of just surviving. I usually just tuck up inside myself and survive. I get to change that as I change the outside! Thanks for your help!!

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I haven’t tried the tea or gas-x I’m a chicken. If it’s not in my binder I don’t eat it 😂. Those are good ideas. I do get in at least 60 grams protein and my 64 oz water. And I try and get in some veggies every day. But that’s my max. I’m out of space with the meds and things. I’m on depakote (migraine drug), the one to stop gall stones and a prescription stool softener ( hasn’t run out from post-op.. I’m supposed to finish it.) I take all three of those 2x a day and then the vitamins. Plus I have a pill in the morning 30 min before I can eat. And finally I’m on Percocet 3x a day (was on before surgery to manage back pain. I’ve had multiple back surgeries and I have nerve damage). It seems my first couple hours is just getting meds in which I’m sure isn’t helping the nausea... ahh surgery! I will try some tea, I’ve got a ton of herbal tea I love it and it is in the binder as approved for this stage on my diet. I’ve just been afraid of spice ever since I threw up.😂😂😂 this too shall pass 😬

It’s not food. I’ve basically felt nauseous since surgery. Just how I live now. I did throw up once. I tried a spice mix on some ground turkey and up it came. Other then that I’ve kept everything down. Even all the other turkey I’ve eaten. So I know it was the spice. I’ve tried changing the temperature of food and water, eating more and less... I don’t see my doctor again until Jan 8. Hopefully my body has adjusted by then. Jello does seem to settle it for a few minutes, but I try not to eat that as it has no nutrition. Any ideas?

I’m so sorry! It’s the worst! I’m so grateful you’ve shared, I have been wanting just a bite of toast to help my nausea. I’ve stayed 💯 on plan and my daughter was fixing me some ground turkey we decided to try a spice mix on it. I didn’t even get an ounce down before it came up. These new little tummies are tricky. It’s taken me 2 days to want to even eat again. I went back to protein shakes and just ate a hard boiled egg for breakfast. It made me scared to eat. I’ve promised myself I wouldn’t get dumping syndrome and now I’m learning I may not have a say in that. Even if we follow all the rules, our bodies might reject an approved food.

I’m on soft foods as well. I just think a piece of toast would fix my nausea. But I haven’t dared tried just in case!! I get light headed too when I try and exercise (walk for exercise, nothing really strenuous yet.) I figure you’re right, more food will help us! Hanging in!

I get so sick of whatever I’m eating. I can hardly stand it by meal 9000! At least it seems that way😂. I try and make the same thing for my family as me, but they finish in one meal what I eat for days.

Post-op Mine is 2 days clear liquid, 2 weeks puréed and now solid “soft” for 4 weeks. The 1st thing I made was a low-fat turkey stroganoff that my family could eat too. It was amazing to bite food!! I of coarse didn’t eat the pasta, just the ground 99% fat free turkey and a little of the sauce with Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It totally hit the spot for me. Since I’ve made homemade marinara with ground turkey, Chicken salad, and tuna salad. I think I’m cooking orange salmon (squeeze fresh orange over the salmon and bake) today.

Preach!! Agreed. That is exactly how my last year went too. I think that’s what’s so great about this forum we can help each other from the not caring part hopefully. Thanks for taking my words in the way intended!! I’m cheering for you 2000%!!

I had regular rny. So no help here. I didn’t even know there was a mini!! However, even among people the same weight, height and surgery there are big differences in how and when they lose weight. I’ve studied nutrition for years and part of it could simply be the time people eat, how much sleep. Or the combinations of food and the quality of food will all affect weight loss and then there are the other factors, like I have a really bad back, multiple past surgeries and still need more in the future, I take pain meds all day everyday just to function, what does that do to my weight loss? We’re all so different, that our weight loss can’t be anything else but unique to us😀! I think 3-4 lbs is tremendous success!! Every 5 lbs lost actually changes the chemistry of the brain! Our bodies are so complex it’s exciting to me that this tool has such across the board success if you are consistent and persistent! Which I know you are TrueNorth!! We got this. I hope this didn’t come across as a know-it-all or lecture. I meant it as a it’s okay, there’s a lot going on under the hood that’s way beyond me and I’m excited for every few ounces I see slipping away. last but not least I measured myself the night before surgery and plan on remeasuring every month. I’ve heard a lot of long time successful people that’s helped them keep going when the scale stalls they still see the inches moving!

I’m the opposite of truenorth. The surgery pain for me was unbearable. I kept saying to my husband this was the biggest mistake of my life. I had to have help up, down, bathroom... it was truly awful. But about day 6 it changed and I’ve been on a steady happy upward since then! Today was my 2 week doctor post-op. It went great! Down 16lbs, and onto phase 3 diet!! My pain is under control and I am finally able to consistently walk at least 3k steps a day. Also, I can do squats! I haven’t done squats in years!!! I’m so excited everyone, it’s worth it, even if it feels like the biggest mistake at first! I left the hospital off all blood pressure meds. No longer close to being diabetic and I haven’t had to use my c-pap since week one post-op! things I wish I had prepared better for - it will hurt bad! Just because not for everyone, if I had that in my mind, I would have handled it better. Practiced tiny sips of water, I practiced slow food and small bites. The tiny, tiny sips of water have been hard for me. how are all of you doing?

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I’ve been MIA for a minute. My Dad just passed away. He was diagnosed with cancer and passed within 3 weeks. I’ve cried my head off, I did get to see him one more for a day before surgery. I’ve felt so sorry for myself and even told my daughter “You should be able to eat whatever you want when your Dad dies.” This has been so hard and good for me to be challenged this early in, I’m having to find other things to comfort and connect other then food. Sorry I’ve disappeared. I’ve not gone off plan, but I’m having a hard time making myself eat. Since I don’t feel hungry, it’s easy to get pulled into sorrow and avoid life. Having this group here gives me strength! Thank you for all of your stories and strength and determination to keep going! We got this!!
