Slight but consistent pain/discomfort.
Zom B replied to Zom B's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh my!!! Latanya, when did that happen? How are you feeling since then? I had a CT scan two weeks ago where they found a spot on my old stomach that the surgeon missed when stitching and there’s a slow leak that is taking longer to heal. They said it is rare but will slowly heal itself. I thought that was bad but your emergency hernia sounds terrifying. I’m sorry you went through that! -

Many loves, Eastern or Western? I had surgery in Bellevue but I live in Lynnwood. -
Anyone for October 2020?

Super excited for all of you!! I was G Bypass back in August and I’ve seen so much change in myself and learned a ton from being here. Take care and stay hydrated 💜 -
I am not sure I understand your idea. You want to have strangers, and people that are pre and post-op to your home during a pandemic and right before flu season? I’m not trying to be snarky, I am baffled by this idea and want to make the suggestion that you try a Zoom support group until things are safer. Best of luck! Be safe.

Anyone for August 2020
Zom B replied to MotivatedMomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wanted the vertical sleeve also, but was diagnosed with sleep apnea and medium gerd results. My Dr told me my options were Bypass, which would prevent much of the acid, or nothing. Easy choice though I’ll miss NSAIDS because Tylenol does nothing for me. Seems to me the golden standard is whichever surgery best fits your medical history and weight loss goals. Best of luck to everyone on their journey!! -

We’re like WLS twins. My starting weight, goal, and height are very similar to yours. Short girls kicking butt 💪🏻💜 -

Your program has a support group?? Wow. That’s such a good idea, wish mine did too 🤩 -
This is a very clever way of allowing the daily curiosity but not feeling the pains of the ups and downs of every meal or bloated day. I’m going to do this as well. Thank you BIJ!!

Latanya, I am experiencing sudden and very frequent diarrhea, dehydration and strange food aversions. I’ve been to urgent care twice for hours and hours during a time when being in medical facilities is best avoided if possible. I’ve had multiple IV’s and had to turn in a few fresh BM samples, yuck, lol. Even with all that, my body is changing, becoming lighter and more agile. My abs are slowly mending from sutures. I can almost tie my shoes and shave my legs! I am less focused on what everyone surrounding me is eating and more cognizant of my protein count and water intake. The west coast air is finally clearing and I am walking outside and getting fresh air and sun. I’m newer to this site but I am quickly realizing the one consistent thing about all of our journeys is that we all have ups and downs. Nobody has all good days. When I feel super down, I look at pics of my bloated and bruised tummy in the hospital. And my 3 week post op pics when my jeans wouldn’t button. Even when we don’t feel the changes, they’re there. Try not to regret them as they’re part of the journey. Sorry for the rambling, Cheer up

Help! I ate McDonald's 2 weeks post op
Zom B replied to MoominMan's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You are not a bother to your team! Their entire job is to perform, maintain your WLS (with you), and care for you. They are paid well to do so. If something goes unchecked and you become ill, that brings their success numbers down and that can reflect negatively on their program. They definitely want to hear about your concerns big and small. Be well 💜 -
Mmm...I miss garlic hummus and baby carrots.

Recent RNY - How ya doing?
Zom B replied to Corrine2020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mairead, My RNY was August 20 and I also already have hair loss. All my research says it’ll come back when nutrients level out. Don’t panic -
I am having the exact same issue. I have posted like crazy in the thread called Dumping that is trending. I am also 3 weeks out and as soon as I started purées my morning consists of cramps, chills, sweating and toilet. Sometimes 10 minS, sometimes an hour I was just screened for bacterial infection, negative, so they’re thinking lactose intolerance. What did you do to work through it? I have to be back at work on Monday and I am developing some very negative feelings about the bathroom and eating in general. Today I only got in 250 calories because I was so focus on water, Gatorade zero, and pedialyte. I’m really just hitting a mental wall. I’ve had 3 or 4 imodiums today and they don’t seem to do anything.

Morning Lower abdomen burning, Diarrhea and nausea
Zom B replied to PeaceAndLove88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m 3 weeks post op, on purées and have the exact same problem. Go to bed like usual and first thing in the morning, chills, cramps, nausea, then diarrhea. Some have suggested lactose related. Did you ever figure it out? If so, what did you eat until it got sorted. Feeling very limited as eggs, shakes, cottage cheese, and mashed potatoes were getting me through this stage. I feel very depressed as the symptoms have increased and I now get it 3 times a day even with Imodium AD. -
Having such a bad night, again. After getting the call about lactose and dairy I had already eaten a scrambled egg, and cottage cheese. I switched to low fat chili today though so less fat overall. I have dumped 3 times today and my cramps are still present. I’ve had 3 or 4 Imodiums and I can’t seem to keep my fluids from evacuating from my backside. To make things worse my family keeps asking if I regret surgery and my sister who was considering checking into a referral for herself also said she is rethinking it because of my rough recovery. I’ve cried more than I can count and when I talk to my team they are hyper focus on my protein numbers and water goal. I am weak, tired and in pain. It would be nice to have those acknowledged. If this isn’t lactose intolerance than I have NO idea what’s going on, I just know it is bad.

Anyone not into milk products?

What are your fave dairy-free powders? I tried orgain vegan vanilla and couldn’t stomach it 🤢. -
Amboyle, I am 3.5 weeks post op bypass and have been dumping daily since starting purées. I usually start the day with a premium protein shake or scrambled egg or cottage cheese. Deli turkey and low fat chili’s round out my day. My team have ruled out a bacterial infection so looking like lactose is the culprit. Can I ask what protein sources have worked for you? I am feeling pretty frustrated. Any tips appreciated!

Hi HS. Today I got my labs results. I’m low on vitamin K and my bacterial test came back negative. They’re think it is lactose intolerance indeed. Of course I got the email after my egg breakfast and cottage cheese lunch 🙃. So for now, I have to abstain from the dairy and my premier protein shakes. Does anyone have experience with this or know someone who does? I have to rethink my entire purée diet. That leaves me with low fat vegetarian chili, deli turkey and roast beef. That is all I have without dairy. Oof. Thanks in advance for the ideas guys.

Update: Nurse line told me to come in for labs and a BM sample. They suspect bacterial infection or some type of organ dysfunction....yikes. I’m so weak today. I had 4.5 hours of Zoom meetings with teachers and admin and I know I looked half dead. Only the teacher I work for knows about my surgery too. Double edge sword as I have my privacy but others are left making assumptions 😒. after the doctors office I picked up zero sugar Gatorade, pedialyte, more Imodium, adults diapers, and some bum soothing wipes. The cashier gave me such a pitiful look and told me to feel better. It was a nice sentiment. Tomorrow is a fresh day and I have what I need to tackle it. Thank you for everyone that reached out and gave advice 💜.

It was Kroger brand. I hope they cook it properly but you never know. I ran to Safeway in between BM sessions and picked up turkey and vegetarian chili by Valley. Hoping this could be a simple fix 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I hope your meds got sorted Tek! That’s scary. Thanks for sharing your long term experience with us. Definitely a new view for me.

I’m not eating hardly anything the last 2-3 days. Chili w/beans, deli turkey, cottage cheese, shakes. My calciums, multi V, and omeprazole and ursodiol. I always weigh and I always log my food. Just woke up to more cramps and diarrhea. Anyone else take Imodium AD with zero results?
-
Oh! I hope that’s not it. I get a lot of my protein from cottage cheese and premier protein shakes. That would be super unfortunate 😩 .
-
I hope it gets better too. It’s after midnight and I’ve had 5 incidents today. Something is wrong. Either meds or maybe my shakes or something. Purées is supposed to be easy and allow the body to heal. it is a little like the flu. I get sweaty on my forehead, I can hear and feel stomach gurgles, sometimes gas but not always and then full body chills. The entire experience is like a roller coaster for my senses. It leaves me drained and weak. I took at anti diarrheal finally and messaged my team. I can’t do this much longer. Day 9 or 10 straight. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
