I know I hate having to wear a girdle with everything to keep the belly and thighs from jiggling!! It gets hot as hell in Texas, and I wanna be able to throw on a tank top and some shorts without worrying about it. I really don't go out as much because of the weight or date much either. Admitedly, I have gotten more comfortable with myslef the last couple of years, but I know being fat holds me back from soooo much more. I turned 29 a couple of months ago and I am trying to make it to 30 a little lighter!!!

My Mom and I are really close as well..she is actually taking me to have the surgery (8/4/2008). At first she didn't get it either, but I expected she wouldn't since she's never been overweight a day in her life. We talked, weighed the options and she just wants me to be happy, and do what is best for me. Mothers worry...its just part of the job. I suspect if my Mom felt against WLS as much as yours I wouldn't tell her either. I think you are doing the right thing. But isn't it great to have Mother's who care so much? We are truly blessed :-) Good luck! BTW....I love the 'women of color' forum!! Now I can quit trying to find black women's profiles to compare information with!

Congrats on your approval and upcoming sugery date!! Really don't know much about the difference in Realized Band and Lap Band AP, but I'm glad you brought it up so I can look into to it. I am also in Dallas, and I got approved last month, but I'm not having the surgery until August (waiting until after vacation and resolving family issues). I went to www.tickerfactory.com and created my a ticker to keep track my weight loss. Then just copy and paste the code after you create it into your signature. I'm sure there are many other sites as well. Good luck with your sugery and happy losing!! Keep us posted on your progress.
