    Food was my friend

I used to read what Jack shared about not missing some of his favorite foods and I didn't understand. I don't think you do until you are in the same spot. I don't really miss my old bestfriend... ice cream. One night I really wanted it. I said I will get a small serving of SF stuff tomorrow and had some sf pudding. The next day when DH asked if we were going for icecream I said I didn't want it anymore. What a freeing feeling that was:) If I had it in the house, I probably would have eaten it! I can do this ONE DAY AT A TIME!!!

  5. Hi, I sent a note to my nutrisionist, but in the mean time wanted to know if it is true that your body can only obsorb 30 grams of protein at a time? I thought I read that yesterday and it confused me. I use Zero Carb ISOPURE that has 25 grams of protein in each scoop. There are two scoops a serving = 50 grams. I have been putting that in a vanilla advantage shake each day. Can some straighten me out? Thanks

    Breakfast

This band works great for those that "hate" breakfast.... I never was a breakfast person and now my band is to tight to eat in the morning. Usually it is just coffee or yogurt smoothie until lunch. When the kids were little they loved breakfast for dinner... that is when I get the eggs in, at dinner time.

Steak at 8 days post op.

I think the "title" got everyone..... I had steak last week, 6 1/2 weeks post op, no fill, cut the steak in very small pieces, chewed the heck out of it.... only got three down and it PB's for two hours. I was sooooo sick. Everyone kept telling me that I had to learn MY band, what MY band wanted and couldn't handle... OK I think I got it now. I am now back to mushies for two weeks to give my stomach a break. NO MORE STEAK FOR THIS BANDSTER..... Take it slow.... you don't have to learn the hard way like me:nervous

Hi Everyone..... After I posted I walked to the post office to send card to my friend who lost his daughter. Walked back and did 20 laps in the pool, took a walk on the beach and then parked my but there and read for two hours. I felt so much better.... I came home and my best friend (they call us lucy and ethel) sent me an email that her dog cody died in his sleep. She is devistated and we were crying on the phone together... You know what? I didn't eat over it! Even with all the sadness today I was able to not endulge in food. The day is almost over and tomorrow is a new day. I know God won't give me more then I can handle. Kisses, d

My 32 year old Stepson Brian has been diagnosed with Neurofibroma. It is a mass of cells that is usually malignant. It isn't what this time, it is where. From the MRI they are seeing has it sitting on C2 / C3 of the spinal cord. He lives in a small community outside Seattle called Bellingham. He definitely needs surgery, but we have encouranged him to get more then one opinion. My DH will fly out and I will do what ever is needed,, babysit grandkids, go for moral support, stay home and watch the home front....one of those situation where you need to follow the need.... Also, This morning I was informed a close friend from highschool lost his 18 yr old daughter in an auto accident last night in West Haven, Connecticut... Sad. His only child. But for the grace of go I.... Going to move a muscle and change a thought.... kisses, d
  12. My First Week__________________ Surgery day was ok. Drugged up and slept and walked a lot. When I got home from hospital I had a lot of port pain. NOt to much gas, but the walking helped with that. I couldn't sleep on a bed.... slept in a recliner.. It was heaven. :notagree My DH set it up in the bedroom with my favorite blankie... AHHHHHHHH Napped a lot, drank Clear liquids for 4 days and thicker liquids for 3 weeks. No whole food, not even in the Soups... I put them in the blender. AND OF COURSE... MY Water. 64 oz a day! So... Week one was sleeping, sipping and walking! Have a great recovery:)

    I did it!!

    Welcome to band land.... CONGRATULATIONS............
  16. We are all different... and these posts are just suggestions. Only do what you feel like doing. Walking is a good thing... that helps with everything.. how you feel, your weight, your energy level and the gas pains. I was very tired after band surgery. Especially in the afternoon.... I was on liquids for three weeks. Naps and taking care of yourself are in order right now... Good luck on your band journey!!!!

Good morning all. I feel better this morning. No "unplanned" visits to the bathroom since last night. Yahoooo! It is sunny and cool 70 here today so no beach for me. I have an interview at 6 pm for a church administrator position. If you knew me, you would fall over laughing... as my "old" boss did. I go where life leads and they seem to WANT ME!!! lOL To all those that sent PMs... thank you. Your words and support mean a lot to me. Kelly: You keep going girl. You are doing great! Being able to handle all those things that happen in our day to day is what makes us strong. I remember having a daycare provider quit on a friday and I was starting a new job on Monday. It all works out!!! Trish... wow midterms. Good for you! I am always impressed by people in school young and old. It was never for me ... I am more the self teach type, hands on learning. I hope you are able to get some rest and do great on the tests Anne: wooohoooo... that is great news! Thanks for the words of support. I will "hang" in there. Not that I want to lose weight this way, but I can't be gaining if I'm losing all my food! I HATE TO PB... Betty: Ouch! Ear aches are so painful. $185 for meds... that is crazy. I don't understand it! I hope you feel better : - ) Good luck on the interview.. what are you interviewing for ? I hate the process, but I know it is necessary. Just hard to be yourself when you are selling yourself to someone.... you know? Eileen: I am so glad your MIL is doing better. It is so stressful and you feel so powerless when someone you love is sick. I will continue to pray for you all. Pat: wow! DD on a size 2... hmmmm. I have DD but unfortunately they are down to my knees...... LOL Everyone around me is thin, my stepdaughters and my sons girlfriends. They eat and eat, but I gain the weight! LOL Bene: Taco's ... Yum! I may not be able to eat anything else, but I can eat mexican! I heat up some FF refried beans, tomato, ff cheese, some ground beef ... and top it with ff sourcream and salsa. I could eat it three meals a day! HAY... I WONDER IF BEING ABLE TO EAT MEXICAN HAS ANYTING TO DO WITH BEING BANDED IN MEXICO!!!! LOL I'll have to tell my surgeon about that one... Dutchgirl... Cleaning is a good way for me to work off anything... frustration, moods, husband... it works and looks great afterwards. Plus nice nails... way to go! Ok,,,, I have clothes in the washer, have to clean the floors from the grandkids yesterday... Have a sparkling day all! d

    band v. bypass

Actually, I lost faster then I wanted..... 30 lbs in 5 weeks. I am exercising and I want to lose inches and tone at the same rate of weight loss so I am not all saggy. Don't know if it will work, but that is my goal. If I follow the bandster diet and exercise I will meet by goal of 100 lbs .... not doubt in my mind. If I mess around, eat junk and don't exercise, I won't. Simple..... but not easy!

    band v. bypass

This is such a personal decision and on this board you will get votes for the band and on a bypass site you will get votes for bypass. For me, this was the only decision. I needed to change the way I thought about food with some assistance. The other by pass route was to drastic for me.... As I said, this is a personal decision that you need to make. Do your research..... you will make the right decision. Good Luck...
