I took my first family vacation since having my lapband surgery 8/07. Everything was great except that I felt like a huge burden when it came time to eat. We went to several amusement parks and even the 7 hours of traveling time was a hassle. Don't get me wrong my family are great supporters but when you are traveling and vacationing and you constantly hear I can't eat there or I can't eat that. No one actually complained but I could tell that it was a definate sore spot. Any body have any ideas for the next vacation? I have come too far to give in to just eating junk even on vacation!!!

I would love to have a cookbook. I do not have many recipes but the one that I have used most is for a beverage. Iam an avid chocolate lover so this one really comes in handy for me. Sugar Free Hot Chocolate 8 oz skim milk 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa 3 pack of splenda Heat millk until warm and then add cocoa and splenda. Tastes so good even my kids drink it and can't tell the difference. Hope this helps

The best advice I can give you is not to get discouraged by whatever hoops your insurance or MD may make you jump through. That was the toughest part of the whole lapband experience for me. Just go with the flow and keep your mind on the big prize at the end of the journey!!!

Hi! My name is Marie. I was banded in 8/07. I have since lost a total of a whopping 120 pounds. I can honestly say that I do not regret having my surgery. I have not encountered any difficulties from the surgery or after. I am very lucky to have tons of family support and that has been a huge help!!! I had my surgery in Celebration Florida by Dr. Keith Kim of US Bariatrics. He is a wonderful MD and they have a great support system set up. I have been completely satisfied with everything done at there office. Anyway, just wanted to say hi!!!:thumbs_up:

Michelle I tried every diet and exercise program out there before I decided to have lap band surgery. I failed at everyone and actually ended up gaining weight in the process. I was very afraid of failing with this also. I had a very tough time while trying to get everything set up for surgery. It actually took me about 4 months from the time I went for a consult to the time I got a surgery date. I almost gave up somewhere along the way. Luckily I have a great husband who told me to have a little patience. When I finally got that surgery date, I was sooo excited and I realized that if I hadn't given up the idea in 4 months then it was something worth doing. Family support is my biggest factor in my success. Good luck!1 I know that you can succeed!!!!

I had a little bit of cold feet about a week before my surgery. Then I remembered all I had to go through to get to that point and remembered how I felt when I got a surgery date. I was banded 8/07 and have never once regretted it. I have lost 120 pounds since then. Surgery is always a little scary but just keep in mind the long term goal!! Good luck!!!

Dr. Kim in Celebration is great!!! He did my surgery and he is wonderful. He is leaving US Bariatrics and opening his own practice with Florida Hospital in the next month. Maybe price will be cheaper!!! Just thought I would let you know!!!
