Hey Deanna, I have an upcoming surgery on July 2 and my husband is very supportive. I have not told anyone besides my immediate family because I don't want to hear anyone's opinion or any negative comments. It's something that I have decided that I am going to do for myself. Maybe your husband is a little insecure that you will be one hot mama after! Woo hoo! Or perhaps with you having kids, he may be a little afraid for you to have this surgery. I think his comments are just coming out of fear. I think if you talk to him and tell him how you feel, he will come around. He just needs to be reassued that you will be ok. Good Luck to you!

july 2nd surgery date
Barbiek replied to jjenkins2411's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, My surgery date is July 2 as well. Good luck to you and welcome to the site! -
I think it's only natural to feel like that. Whenever you are on a diet, then all you think about is food! I feel that same way sometimes. I have an upcoming surgery on July 2 and want to start a new chapter in my life, without all the food issues. Just remind yourself how great you are going to look and feel, and no food is worth that feeling! I am looking forward to that and I wish you luck in your upcoming surgery as well.

Congratulations! Your message was very inspiring. I am having lapband surgery on July 2 and sometimes I have cold feet, but when I read your message, it makes me really look forward to my surgery date! Good Luck and may you continue to have much success in your lapband journey!

A friend yelling at me at a bar saying DON'T EAT THAT!
Barbiek replied to katie78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is the reason I keep my big mouth shut and not tell anyone I am about to have surgery. Just when I think I feel like I want to tell a co-worker, I read something like this and then I say to myself "I'm glad I haven't told anyone." For some reason, co-workers always want to be the food police. It's just not right! -
Looks like you did the ticker right! I live in the SF Bay Area. Where is Apple Valley? Keep me posted on your lap band journey and I will do the same. Our surgeries are very close - about a week a part. Good Luck!

New Kid On The Block - Banding Date 6/18/08
Barbiek replied to ChristineXtreme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Christine, I will be banded with Lapband on July 2. Looking forward to this new journey and wish you well on yours. Good luck to you! I just added the ticker to my signature so let me try to explain: Go to tickerfactory.com and create your ticker. Then you will need to copy it and then go to your lapband profile and paste it under edit profile, then edit signature. Paste right into the signature box. It may take a few tries, but I just successfully did it a few minutes ago. Good luck! -
Hi, I think I know how to add the ticker. I just tried it and I think it worked. First, go to tickerfactory. com and it will help you design one. Once designed, you will need to cut and paste into your Lapband profile. When you go the lapband profile, you will see a place that says signature. Go to signature and past ticker into the box. Hope my instructions work. It took me a few tries to figure it out. Good luck! And good luck on your sexier, healthier lifestyle. I am being banded July 2 and and looking forward to same!

Hi from KC...in the early stages of contemplation.

Hi, I would try your insurance before you look into other options. My BMI was below 40 as well, but I had high blood pressure and back pain so I was approved. I thought they would not approve me, but they did! Give it try, and if it doesn't work, then look into the other options. Good luck! -
Welcome Laura, and congrats! I love your enthusiasm! I will be banded on July 2nd and I hope I do (and feel) as well as you! Good luck to you on this journey and keep us all posted!

I haven't told anyone about my upcoming surgery except my husband of course and my sister and they are sworn to secrecy . I contemplated telling a co-worker who I eat lunch with often, but now that I have read all these posts, I am not going to say a word to anyone at work - not my co-workers, not my boss, not anyone! I have taken time off from work (vacation time) and will be having my surgery on July 2. I will continue to keep my mouth shut so I don't have to answer any of those kind of questions. I guess the people at work will just have to wonder - and if they ask how I did it, I will just say I eat less. Which will be true anyway! Good luck everyone!

Hi Susan, I am getting banded on July 2 as well! It's coming fast and I'm a little nervous but excited too. Good luck to you and all of us who will be banded soon! Yipee!

I recently got a surgery date - July 2. I was really excited at first, but now I am scared as the date gets closer. I'm sure this is a normal, but would like someone to let me know if they felt the same way. Not sure if I am having second thoughts or just cold feet. I think just cold feet... The forum is great! I love reading all the posts and it gives me hope and encouragement.

Hi All, I haven't told anyone at work that I am having the lap band surgery. My surgery will be on Wed July 2. How much time do you really need to take off to recover? I have taken a week off for "vacation" but afraid that I may not be fully recovered when I go back. I do office work so it's not very strenuous. Do you think I need more time. Any advice? Please let me know your experience. Thanks!

Terry, I laughed so hard when I read your post! That same exact thing happens to me...I question myself, then look in the mirror and remember the answer!!!! :rolleyes2:

Thank you all for your support! It's comforting to know that I am not on this journey alone. I don't know anyone personally that had the lap band done, but now I feel that I have so many new friends that understand what I am going through. Thanks Again!
