Bloated - Had Surgery July 2
Barbiek replied to Barbiek's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Rangerfan, I am 3 days post op and I can't see or even feel my port. My doctor assured me it's there, but I can't tell. You will have to check with your doctor ~ could possibly be swollen internally. That just doesn't seem right by all the stuff I have read. Good Luck to you and let us know what happens after you meet with the doctor. -
Hi Lee, I was banded on July 2 as well. I am doing pretty good but very sore still. Not very hungry. I feel like I have to force myself to eat something so I have been eating soup, yogurt and protien drinks. I am still bloated from surgery. How about you? How are you doing?

I was banded on July 2 and was fine in the recovery room. When I went to my regular hospital room, I felt like I had to cough and some gooky grey/green stuff came up. It only happened one time. I asked the nurse and she said it was common. It's from surgery and having the tube down your throat during the surgical procedure. You will be fine.

Surgery tomorrow (July 2) ~ Unbelievable!
Barbiek posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am scheduled for my lap band surgery tomorrow morning. For the last week I have been really scared and nervous. But today, it's more like disbelief. I keep asking myself - "Am I really having surgery tomorrow?" It just feels unreal. I have waited so long and it's finally here. Any words of encouragement would be appreciated! (Especially for the pre-surgery jitters). Thanks. -

Bandofhope, Thank you for your kind words and Happy Belated Birthday! I will keep you posted. Thanks for sending blessings my way, it is very much appreciated! As for your surgery, October will be here before you know it and you will do fine. All the posts have helped me through this process. Good luck to you on your journey! -
I was just banded on July 2 and I stayed one night in the hospital. They wanted to take an x-ray the day after surgery and also they want you to have a liquid meal while you are in the hospital to see how you are doing before you leave. This is standard for my insurance company (Kaiser) and I'm glad they kept me one day.

Hi, Just banded on July 2 and everything went smoothly. Came home from hospital yesterday, July 3. I am very sore, but I can't say it's pain, just soreness. Happy to report that I am doing well and I am very happy with my decision to have the lapband. Good luck to you all!

Hi E.L. Glad you are doing well! I had surgery on July 2 and came home July 3. I am really sore, but other than that, I am doing well. I wish you continued success with your lapband! And I hope you feel better soon!

Surgery tomorrow (July 2) ~ Unbelievable!
Barbiek replied to Barbiek's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was just banded on July 2 and all went well. This is my first post since surgery. The scariest part for me was waiting for the surgery. Once I got to the hospital, everything went smoothly and I woke up in recovery. Once I realized I was alive, then I felt really good. I am still sore, but fine. I didn't have any complications. I am looking forward to a new life. For those of you who are not banded yet, it was simple and don't be afraid. For those of you who already are banded, thank you for your encouraging words! It meant a lot to me and helped me through the process. Since I did not tell many people that I was going to have the surgery, I am unable to talk to many people. But it's really nice to have a support group to talk to! Thank you so much! -

Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement! I really needed to hear them. I am still jittery and I am sure I will not be getting much sleep tonight, but I better try since I have to be at the hospital very early in the morning. I will post again once I get home and am rested. Thanks again! -
Nervous....surgery date is July 18....Is nervouseness normal??
Barbiek replied to Lk2teach's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am getting banded tomorrow (july 2) and I am scared too. By what I read from everyone, it's very normal. I am more scared than excited. I will be excited once I wake up from the anesthesia! Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery. I will post again once I am home from the hospital. -
Hello Freckles, Welcome to Lapband Talk! And do tell your tale. We're waiting...! My surgery is tomorrow a.m. so I may have a tale myself afterward!
-
Hi Allison, I'm sure things will go smooth for you this time around. Good Luck! I will be banded tomorrow and I am a little scared. (Actually, I am a LOT scared!) The journey has been long, but now that it's here, I can't believe it. I just want tomorrow to hurry up and get here so I don't have to think about it anymore! Wish me luck!
-
Congratulations and Good Luck! My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow and I am worried too. But I can't wait to feel better and look better, so my new life will begin tomorrow! All of the posts have helped me get to this point and I am SOOO ready ~ and you will be too!

I did not have to do a pre-op liquid diet. My doctor said I just needed to lose 15 lbs before surgery, but I can eat food up until the day before surgery. You can do liquid if you prefer, but it's not mandatory. Good luck to you!

Hi MissLynn23, I live in CA and have Kaiser as well. I have not had surgery yet, but will be soon. I have a great primary care physician that I talked to about my weight problem and my other weight related issues (high blood pressure, back problem, etc). She gave me a referral to the Kaiser Bariatrics and they approved me for a lap band. It's quite a lengthy process from orientation to the actual surgery date (about 10 months), but it was fully covered. Your doctor should not "talk you out of it" if it will make you a healthier person. You will have to meet their requirements though. Good Luck to you! Oh and by the way, you can get pregnant with the lap band. I already have kids, but with all the information that I have obtained, pregnancy is not a problem with the band.

Hey LaDonna, Welcome to Lapband talk! You will find all the info you need here on this website. I will be having surgery on July 2. Good luck to you!

I have not had my surgery yet, (july 2) but if you want my 2 cents, I would wait to have surgery until you come back. The surgery will be here when you get back from your trip. I would go on your vacation and have a great time, then come back, have the surgery and start your new life! Good luck on your decision!
-
I'm sure you will be fine. My doctor did not put me on a pre-op diet so I can pretty much eat whatever I want until the day before surgery (within reason of course). He will be putting me on the post-op diet for sure though! I say just start again with the pre-op diet ~ Friday is almost here! Good luck! My surgery is July 2.
-
Wow Sheryl, you have been through a lot. I will be having surgery on July 2. I have been preparing mentally for almost a year and now that I have my date, I am shock too! Good luck to you in your lapband journey and I will definitely keep you in my prayers.

Sleepless nights...
Barbiek replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Amanda, My surgery date is July 2 as well and I am going crazy! Losing sleep, nervous, but now as the date gets closer, I am TERRIFIED! I'm not dreaming, but I am doubting my decision. I keep thinking that I am going to die on the table and leave my children mother-less and my husband wife-less. And since I haven't told anyone about my upcoming surgery besides my immediate family, I keep thinking that my husband is going to have to call my work and tell them that I died having weight loss surgery! How embarassing! Is this crazy or what? This is what I think about every moment of every day right now. But then on the other hand, I tell myself, if I can do this, than I will feel great. I have been wanting this for so long, and now that's its actually here it is very scary. Since we both have the same surgery date, maybe we can keep in touch and "compare notes." I will say a prayer for you. Good luck and try to get some sleep - without the dreams. -
Hi Honey, Congratulations on your surgery and good luck on your lapband journey. I will be banded next week, July 2, and looking forward to my journey as well. Keep us posted!
-
Hey Tanya, I'm older than you and married and have not had my surgery yet, but I will soon. But, if you want my 2 cents, I would wait to tell him until you are really comfortable in your relationship with him. If you are just dating, he really doesn't need to know yet. In the meantime, just leave the lights off! That's what I would do. Good luck with your decision.

Hey Lexiesmom, I have a low BMI (under 40) and I was approved. I have high blood pressure and a bad back so that qualified me. You seem to have more comorbidities than I did so I am sure you will be approved. Good luck in your process!
-
Hey Kimberly, I have a low BMI as well and I was approved. I do have high blood pressure, and back pain so that was a contributing factor to my approval. My surgery is July 2. Good luck to you!
