  1. Areellady~ You are exactly right when you say your brain has to catch up with your weight loss. Sometimes your mind stays fat and hasn't told your body that you are thinner! I have to remember to start taking pictures. I don't like to have my picture taken, but it can be a good motivational tool - especially to see how far you have come! Congratulations again! You look fabulous!
  2. I loved the title of your thread "New and Approved!" Very cute and catchy! Well congrats on being approved for the lapband surgery. Once you get banded, then you will be "New and Improved! "Good luck to you on your weight loss journey! We are here to give you all the support you need along the way!

    Fill before or after vacation?

I would get the fill before you go on vacation so you don't overeat on your vacation. I just had my first fill (2cc's) a couple of days ago and I am doing fine. Not hungry at all. My doc says if you have a problem with the fill, you will know immediately after. My vote: Get the fill.
  4. Wow you look great! The slide show was awesome! (I can actually say it brought a tear to my eye!) From the first pictures to the most current ones, you looked sad in the beginning, but went to happy, beautiful and thin! And your family members are beautiful as well! Oh yeah, and you look much younger now too! Keep up the good work. I'm just starting out (banded 6 weeks ago) and you are such an inspiration to me! You are a beautiful woman! I'm glad that you can see that now! I'm sure you were always a beautiful woman, but now the outside matches the inside! Congratulations!

    Hungry

I was banded on July 2 and started getting really hungry about 2-3 weeks post op. This is very normal. I had my first fill 2 days ago and now I have restriction and the hunger has gone away! I eat very little and I am full very fast. It's great! I am so happy with my band. Hang in there ~ I promise you it will get better. It's really hard from surgery to your first fill, but after that, it's a piece of cake! (Ooops maybe I shouldn't use the word cake since you are hungry! :cursing:

Very Excited - But a little worried...

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! Everyone is different with their hunger but after I got banded, I started getting hungry about 4 weeks post-op. I just got my first fill yesterday and the hunger immediately stopped. Since I don't get hungry, I really don't have cravings anymore. I too had trouble losing weight all my life. Since I got the band, it's pretty easy. I am sure you will be happy when you get banded. Good luck on your weight loss journey!

I got my first fill today!!!

Thanks for the update Zeama. I am having my first fill next week 8/19 and I'm kind of nervous, but looking forward to it at the same time. My hunger kicked in about 4 weeks post op, and I am hoping that the fill will curb my appetite. Glad that all went well. Good luck on your weightloss journey!

    Still in pain

I was very sore and unfortable for almost 2 weeks after surgery, but then after that, I felt great. The first couple of weeks are the worst. You should be feeling much better by next week! Hang in there!
  10. I was perfectly fine 2 weeks post op. You'll be fine on vacation and flying. Have a great trip!

    I'm really hungry

I was banded on July 2 and feel the same way ~ hungry! About 4 weeks post op, I started to get really hungry. I'm glad to hear this is normal. I have my first fill scheduled for August 19th so I'm hoping that will curb my appetite.

    driving for work?

I went back to work after 6 days and I wish I had taken a few more days off. I work in a desk job so you may need a little more time off. If you are able to take more time, I would do it. Good luck to you!
  13. Ddem, That is just sooooo wrong! You need to appeal this. There is no way the doctor would have done the surgery if the insurance wasn't approved. This has to be some kind of mistake. Don't get discouraged, just try and work through this and it should be fine in the end. I know this is easier said than done, but it just has to be a mistake somewhere. If they still deny it, then I would see an attorney. Good luck to you.
  14. Hello Girlnextdoor, Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery. This website will have all your answers. I have been banded since July 2 and I am 4 weeks post op and feel great! I am very happy with my decision as I am sure you will be too. As for changing in eating habits, you won't be that hungry after you have the lapband, and when you are hungry, you will fill up fast. I am still pretty new to all this as I was only banded a month ago, and haven't had a fill yet, but all seems to be going well for me. I have had no complications. I will be getting a fill on Aug 19 so hopefully I will be losing at a little faster pace by then. Good luck to you on your weight loss journey!

    confused as usual,lol...

Have you checked for gallstones? Losing lots of weight can cause gallstones and heartburn is one of the symptoms. My sister and brother both had their gallbladder removed recently so I am going by what they have told me. I'm no doctor, but you may want to check. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon.

    New and Excited

Hi KellyO, Just wanted to wish you luck on the start of your weightloss journey! If you are going through the insurance process, it does take quite a bit of time, so be patient. It will all be worth it in the end. I am sending good thoughts your way...

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

I am down 12 lbs since my July 2 surgery date. I guess that is pretty good. Seems that since I started eating solid food, my weight loss has slowed down a bit. Is this happening to any one else? I don't get my first fill until Aug. 19 and I think I'm ready for it. My appetite is slowly starting to come back.

    Where is my port?

My port is about 2 inches above my belly button. When I lay down and push on the incision, I can feel it.

    Anyone else freaking out??

Hey all you August bandsters, just relax. When i got the call from doctor's office with the surgery date, I freaked out too. I was so excited up until they called me with the date. I was fine and you will be too. I posted a similar thread when my surgery date got closer and someone replied to me that "it's just another day at the office for your doctor!" That really seemed to calm me down. I am almost 1 month post op and feel great with no regrets! Just continue to keep your goal in mind and you will all do fine! Good luck to you on your weightloss journey!

    Healing & Happy

Hi NanaB, The shoulder pain is from the gas. It takes a couple of weeks but it will get better. Keep walking as much as you can. Gas-X strips can help too. I am almost 4 weeks post op and feel great! Good luck to you on your weightloss journey!
  22. I was banded on July 2 and it took me a good 2 weeks before the soreness went away. As for the itching, I still have a little itching. My bandages have all been removed. I have been using some antibiotic ointment at night and it seems to help.

    I got it....

Congratulations! How exciting for you! I am 3 weeks post-op today and I feel great! Good luck on your upcoming surgery and your weightloss journey!
  24. Hey Amanda, I had my surgery July 2 as well and my doc says I can have solid food now. I am doing really well and you seem to be doing ok too. Instead of the ice cream, why don't you try the sugarfree/fat free fudgsicles? They are great and only have 40 calories I believe. It's a nice treat and it goes down really well. I have been eating a yogurt or some banana in the a.m., then some ham and cheese slices with a couple crackers at lunch, and then a little dinner - maybe chicken with soft cooked veggies. I know all doctors have different guidelines, but the solid food is going down pretty well for me now and I feel 100% better since my surgery on July 2. Don't beat yourself up, you are fine, and will continue to do fine. Sounds like you need a little more protien. Good luck to you!
  25. I am almost 3 weeks post-op and I feel great! Like many of you, I too had the chest pain, heartburn etc. I even had some doubts that maybe I made a mistake getting the band. Now that I am 3 weeks out, I feel great and I love my band! I eat very little and get full so fast. For those recently banded in the last week or two, hang in there! You will soon feel fabulous!
