  1. I had surgery July 2 and I am still very bloated. I actually weigh a few pounds more than when I went into surgery! Is this normal? How long does the bloating last?:confused2:
  2. Thanks for all your responses. I think that I may just stay where I am at for now so I don't have one more thing to worry about during my recovery. I will just watch my food intake a little more carefully and be more of aware of what I am eating and try to get a little exercise. Thanks again for responding.
  3. Hi All, I was in a car accident in December and haven't lost any weight since then. I had injuries from the accident and I am still being treated for my injuries. I am really discouraged that I haven't lost any weight but I guess it's understandable since I am not really doing any exercise except for physical therapy. My question is: I am thinking about getting another fill, but am hesitant because I am dealing with a lot of medical issues & pain from the accident. I've gained about 2-3 lbs and am afraid I will start gaining my weight back if I don't get it under control now. I don't want to get into my old eating habits. What are your thoughts on this? Fill or not to fill ~ that is the question.:tt1: Thanks!

    Filled today & ?

When I had my third fill, it hurt when I ate. I gave it two weeks and it didn't get any better. I went for a slight unfill and was fine after that. I think am ready for a slight fill now, but I definitely know what too tight is! Good luck to you.
  5. My hair started to fall out about 2 months after surgery. Everytime I washed it, there would be hair all over my hands. I too was concerned but have read that this is normal and should stop after a couple of months. I would recommend eating more protien. My doctor said hair loss is from change in diet (lack of protein) and also trauma from surgery and should stop after a few months. I am now 4 months post-op and I am not losing hair anymore. He was right.

    4th fill, too much slime

Glad you're feeling better Carrie! It's still a learning process, but now we know what "too tight" means! Good luck with your continued weight loss journey!

Going for 1st fill tuesday, scared

Don't be afraid. The scary part is the "unknown." The doctor just gives you a little numbing medicine in the port area, and then fills your band with saline with a needle. My advice to you is don't watch the procedure. It just feels like a shot, but watching it will make the procedure scarier! Good luck to you. You will be fine. I have had 3 fills already (and one slight unfill) , and you just get used to them!

    4th fill, too much slime

You are definitely too tight. The same thing happened to me. I had a 3rd fill and it hurt so much to eat and when I did eat, my mouth was slimy all the time. I had the doctor remove some and I am 100% better! He took out only 1cc but now I can eat everything without any pain. I think I may need a little more restriction and will probably have him put in 1/2 cc more next time. I think you should have some removed. I was like this for 2 weeks - painful, slimy, and had hiccups all the time. I was miserable, but now I feel great! Good luck to you.

    High hopes to high

I was banded on July 2 and have only lost 17 lbs as well, and I am getting a bit discouraged. I already had 2 fills, and have not lost any additional weight with the fills. I noticed that my food is getting stuck more often when I eat, however, I haven't lost any more weight. I have another fill scheduled for next week and I hope that one helps. I don't feel like I am overeating, but the scale just doesn't want to move. Everyone is different when it comes to weight loss, so try to not to get too discouraged (and I will try and take my own advice too!) Good luck!

HELP - the golf ball syndrome!!

I had my second fill 2 weeks ago and since then, I have gotten stuck a few times. It's a scary feeling! I have learned to slow down and chew better. Up until my second fill, I didn't have much restriction but now I do so I have to slow it down. I'm sure you didn't do any damage. Just slow down and chew better and you will be fine.
  11. I had my second fill on Sept. 16 and it seems since then I have been having some hair loss. I noticed this the day after I had the fill. When I wash my hair in the morning, seems like I have a lot of hair on my hands. I am getting a little concerned. I'm wondering if this is from the fill or just coincidental? Has this happened to anyone else?

    Getting Stuck

I had my second fill last week and since then, my food is getting stuck all the time. (My first fill was last month and I didn't have much restriction.) Now, I have lots of restriction. Maybe too much??? I am not PB'ing or sliming, but food gets stuck at almost every meal and it really hurts. Is this normal after a fill? I am trying to eat slowly and chew better and it seems to help. Just didn't know if this is normal, or should I ask my doc for a little unfill? :girl_hug:

    Getting Stuck

Thanks everyone for your responses! I am learning to eat slower and chew better. The last couple of days have been ok for me.

    Please Help!!

This only happened to me once after my first fill. The fill was fine, but I ate too fast and a cracker kind of got stuck. After it went down, I kind of had some slime come up. Now, I eat very, very slow and it hasn't happened since. Hope you feel better soon.

    Pain with a Fill???????????????

I had my first fill 4 weeks ago and it wasn't bad at all. I felt a little pressure but not any pain. You will be fine. I am going tomorrow for my second fill, as I feel that I don't have much restriction since my first fill. And believe it or not, I am looking forward to it! I didn't come this far to stay fat! I'm more afraid of staying fat than a little poke in the stomach! LOL!!!

To tell or not to tell

I wouldn't tell. I thought about telling people that I am close to at work, but decided not to. I didn't want anyone watching what I eat at work. I decided that I would wait until after my surgery to decide if I would tell or not. Once I had the surgery, I decided not to tell. I am very happy with my decision. I took time off and used vacation time, so nobody was suspicious. This was my personal choice. Good luck to you on your decision.
  18. You will be bloated for at least a week, maybe even more. The gas eventually subsides. The Gas-X strips work pretty good. I looked like a pregnant woman when I came out of the hospital, but then it finally went down. Keep walking, that helps too! Also you may not have regular bowel movements until you start eating real food. The liquids should run right through you. By 2 weeks post-op, you will feel fantastic!

    Is this normal please?

Babysoftly, This is so normal. I was banded on July 2 and was able to eat almost everything as well. I had my first fill a week ago and can still pretty much eat what I want, except that I get full really fast now! It's great! Have a wonderful vacation!
  20. Hey Mutt, Congratulations on your decision to have the lapband surgery! I am 2 months post op and feel great! I am very happy with my decision and I am absolutely sure you will be too! My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! Good luck to you on your weight loss journey! We are all here to give you the support you need.
  21. Sorry you are feeling so bad. I had to do clear liquids for 2 days, then regular liquids (soups, protien drinks, jello, pudding, yogurt,) for 2 weeks, then on to the mushy stage. 3 weeks of liquid just sounds too long. You may want to call your doctor. Hope you feel better soon!

    Strange Question

Yes you can! Just chew really good! Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery, and your weight loss journey!
  23. People go to the doctor all the time, new employees and old employees. You should have no problem getting time off work for a dr. appt. Since your appt. will be in 2 months, I would wait at least 1 month prior to the appt to tell them. (It's not like you are asking for a vacation!) Don't worry, it will be fine! Good luck to you!
  24. Hey Jason, Welcome! You came to the right place! This is an awesome website! You will find all the info you need here, and a great group of people who will support you along the way! Good luck to you on your weight loss journey!
  25. I had the same problem this morning. I was kind of hungry when I got up so I ate a few crackers, too quickly I guess, and it got stuck. I panicked because this never happened to me before. First it felt like heartburn, but after a few minutes, it went down ok with some water. Right after that I started to slime a little. I had my first fill last Tues, so I am more restricted so I guess I have to be really careful now. As for the soreness, I haven't had any soreness or burping so I can't comment on your symptoms and I don't know if that is normal or not. Hope you feel better.
