My spleen may have been damaged during surgery...!
T8ergirl replied to ocbreeze4u's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is my question, too. Why wait a week if you are in this much agony? Call him today and tell him you want the ultrasound and blood work now. Put your foot down. As long as that doesn't hurt, too! -
Those who have been banded, what are you eating?
T8ergirl replied to zeama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 17 days post op and here's what I pretty much eat every day: Wake Up: Cold coffee drink with lite soy milk and 1/2 scoop of unflavored Protein powder Breakfast: Low fat greek yogurt (Fage) with honey (130 cal / 10g protein) Snack at Work: Myoplex Lite Protein Drink Lunch: 1 tablespoon each / 4 tablespoons total of stuff off the salad bar. Usually, tuna, peas, cottage cheese, garbanzos. Snack: Another protein drink Dinner: Whatever I cook for the boys but just 4 tablespoons of it. Monday night I had one strand of whole wheat fettuccine with tomato vodka sauce, roasted veggies, and a tiny piece of blackened trout. Last night I had a work event and I had two shrimp, steamed cauliflower and carrots, and one tiny potato wedge. Dessert: sugar free ice pops--usually two of them because they are so frosty delicious!! -
How much have you lost July Butterfllies??
T8ergirl replied to lotzasunshine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My ticker is up-to-date. 10 pounds of that is pre-op the rest is since 7/14. I have no desire to eat whatsoever. I'm just eating to live. What a great fantastic splendid hysterical crazy thing! -
Hi my fellow Butterflies! Haven't really posted or even read for awhile. Banded on 7/14 and that first week was a blur of morphine and exhaustion. Went back to work on the 21st and its been crazy there. I was on liquids until the 24th, and honestly, I could still be. I was fine with it and really didn't have a desire to eat and I still don't. Transitioned to pureed foods but that was a pain in the butt so I'm pretty much eating regular food (4 tablespoons of it!) and just chewing it really well. When I look at my plate now I wonder how I'll get it all in and its crazy. My husband laughs hysterically at it. It has to be literally 1/10th of the food I would normally consume at a meal. I lost about 10 pounds prior to surgery but its just falling off me since that date. I have to stop weighing myself every day because its slowing down now and I don't want to get discouraged. But it was very exciting stepping on the scale every morning and weighing a pound less than the day before! Tried to start working out this weekend but my energy was spent 15 minutes into it and my stomach HURT. I had a large hiatal hernia repair as well so I think that's contributing. My only real issue is that I am having reflux, I think. Its just a continual mild sore throat that is bad in the morning. I'm taking Prevacid but it doesn't seem to help. I've never had reflux in my life so its a strange thing. Tonite I'm going to take some Maalox or something right before bed and try to sleep a bit upright. I had a big work event this week and 4 or 5 people told me I looked thinner. That was nice! If people ask me what I'm doing I tell them the truth. Everyone has been supportive and I'm fine with them knowing that I needed help to break away from my abusive friend--food! My incisions are all healed and don't look bad at all. I only had some mild port pain but that is gone. It is on my left abdomen just below my ribcage and I do kind of feel it when I try to sleep on my left side. I am struggling to eat my chewable vitamins. I do it, but I dread it. They just taste funky to me now. I'm using the Bariatric Advantage chewables for bandsters in watermelon. I need to try another flavor but I've got $30 worth of them so it will be awhile. I also struggle a bit with the protein drinks. The only one I like is Myoplex Lite. I bought 3 big containers of Unjury in unflavored, vanilla, and chocolate but the only one I can stand is the unflavored which I try to sneak into stuff. I found this yummy stuff at Whole Foods the other day and its got 17 grams of protein and its delicious so I'm thinking about making this one of my meals. The only thing I've eaten that's given me trouble is a Yoplait Whips! yogurt. I guess it has gas or air in it. I ate half the container and got really sick. Well, that's all for me. Hope everyone else is doing great!

Penny-I had surgery last Monday with a hiatal hernia repair and I stayed home alone on Thursday and I was fine.

I was banded 6 days ago and I've had a few headaches that I think are related to either my blood sugar being low (because I'm hardly eating!) or caffeine withdrawal. I got some sugar free coffee candies that have caffeine in them and I have a few of those and it seems to help. Did you drink coffee or tea or caffeinated sodas before your surgery?

2 weeks post op w/ "tightness" in midsection & back??
T8ergirl replied to NoPBJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am three days post - op and having the same sensation. It's around every 15-20 breaths or so. Weird and disturbing. If it gets worse I'm calling my doc--but in the meantime I sent my husband to get different gas medicine. -
Hello my fellow Butterflies! Tomorrow is my big day. I am 41 and live in Northern Virginia. My surgery is being done at Fair Oaks Hospital by Dr. Moazzez. No fancy pre-op diet needed--just eat light/liquids today so I had a homemade smoothie this morning and a Tropical Smoothie for lunch, and some tomato Soup. I have one 5 year old son and along with me, I'm doing this for him. I want to be around to see him get married and have his own kids. With my family history--unless I do something soon--that won't happen. I'll post my surgery day story when I can! Happy Bastille Day and Vive La France!!

Are you completely happy with your lap band decision.
T8ergirl replied to Jillbeme65's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Funny, but I asked this at a Lap-Band support group of 17 people a few weeks ago and they all looked at me like I was nuts. Not one person said they'd go back and change it. Not one. -
Just plain tired...Is anyone else experiencing?
T8ergirl replied to rcoleband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How is your iron level? What your describing sounds to me like EXACTLY how I felt when I was anemic. I'd talk to your doctor and get an iron and a B12 level. -

Still need to do my blood work, EKG, and upper GI. I've been reading the various threads and posts here and I'm happy to join the community.
