Yes that really does make me feel better. Thank you! --- RNY 9/10/20 HW: 245 Day of surgery: 225 CW: 213

I could drink 64 oz of liquid the day after surgery and since then, I've worried that I did something wrong somehow. The past couple of days since starting the puree phase, I eat more at meals than I think I'm supposed to be able to. My doctor's office said that people don't usually finish a cup of greek yogurt in one sitting but I don't find that to be a problem. I don't even know what I'm asking. I'm just worried. --- RNY 9/10/20 HW: 245 Day of surgery: 225 CW: 213

I know that this thread is a few years old but I'm curious how it eventually worked out for you. Thanks! --- RNY 9/10/20 HW: 245 Day of surgery: 225 CW: 214

I got a couple of bariatric cookbooks just so I would have ideas for things. There are some great recipes in both of them. --- RNY 9/10/20 HW: 245 Day of surgery: 225 CW: 214

Pre surgery diet freak out
MagentaMom replied to Jsteelecat's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was lucky (-ish) that I only had to do it for 5 days prior to surgery. My only tips are - wean yourself off of caffeinated coffee because you won't be able to have it during recovery - drink Gatorade if you're allowed. It'll help give some energy and keep you from getting a headache - likewise, I drank chicken broth every day to help get something warm and to get some salt. You're essentially preventing a "keto flu" here. I was honestly surprised that I didn't have any headaches during those few days. - I had freezer meals ready for my family so that I wouldn't have to cook for them. My husband could just handle dinner easily. (Not that he's incompetent or something. He had to work and help with watching 3 kids. Me not having to cook was helpful.) Other than that, try and keep yourself distracted. I watched a lot of TV, played video games, and generally tried to not think about wanting to eat. It wasn't terrible but I definitely hated it. Day 2 was awful. Beyond that, things were easier to handle. Good luck! --- RNY 9/10/20 HW: 245 Day of surgery: 225 CW: 218 -
Anyone for September 2020?

I has mine last week on Thursday. I'm surprised at how good I feel! I was nervous about getting enough water but it hasn't been an issue. Pain is manageable. The only thing I have trouble with sometimes is finding a comfortable position to sleep. Sometimes it's not an issue and other times -- like tonight -- I'm stuck awake because no matter which way I lay, it's uncomfortable. -

This liquid diet is bruuutal. I'm on day 4 of 5 and I'm so hungry. The other days were filled with head hunger and sucked in their own way. But today...omg my stomach just keeps growling. -
My surgery is scheduled for September 10 and I'm trying to prepare as best as I can. I've seen people talking about meal prepping for themselves after surgery. What is it that you're prepping? Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

I got lucky (?) and only have to do the liquid pre-op diet for 5 days. I'm thinking of it like I did when I quit smoking 10 years ago...just sort of grit my teeth and get through it. Mind over matter... [emoji1696] -
A mini thermos! That's a great idea! So you made protein shakes ahead of time and kept them in the fridge? I have a bunch of different protein powder flavors, including an unflavored one. I'm hopeful that I'm covered on that front.
