  1. I’m 52 and post-menopausal. Since my surgery on 02/09/21 I’ve only lost 38 lbs. My surgeon only told me “it’s not a race” and to “keep up the good work “ but I feel like I should have lost more by now. Before surgery my weight was 275, SW was 242, current weight is 206. I’ve been stuck at 206 for almost a month now and am feeling very frustrated. I’ve read where post-menopausal women will lose at a much slower rate so I’m just chalking it up to that. Anybody else post-menopause having the same issues? FYI... I see a hormone specialist and all my hormones have been balanced to “normal.”

    "Head Hunger"

I understand what you’re saying! I’m only 4 weeks out and I’m feeling that empty, gnawing feeling in my stomach, as well. I try to tell myself that it’s not actual hunger but I can’t help feeling those same old hunger pains I did before surgery. At least now I just physically can’t eat as much because of the size of my stomach. However, it doesn’t change the fact that real hunger is there.
  3. Hey, Spitfireash! I felt the same as you about the hair loss so I did start my vitamins about a week after my surgery. My hair used to be thick but has thinned out as I’ve gotten older. I didn’t want to lose even more hair than I already have. Since starting my vitamins, I am doing fine. No problems. I also read where zinc is good to take to prevent hair loss so I’m taking that along with the biotin, etc..

2 days out after Gastric Sleeve

I have the same feeling when I sip water. The pain right in the middle of my chest. I still get it when I take too big of a sip and have to stop for a while until the pain subsides. I’m only two weeks out from surgery (VSG.) It does seem to have gotten better with time but I do still experience it.

Day 20 Post-Op & New to the group

I had VSG 2/09/21 so I’m only two weeks out from surgery. My doctor has me on Protonix to prevent gastric reflux and so far it’s helped tremendously. No problems with stomach acids really. My problem is I seem to have hit the dreaded “three week stall” early! No matter how closely I track and watch what I’m eating (I’m on puréed foods now), I’m stuck at the same weight! It’s incredibly frustrating. I’m 52 and guess things are a little different for us older gals... I’ve only lost 12 lbs since my surgery. I sure could use some words of encouragement.

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

Hey everybody, I had my surgery on Tuesday the 9th and I’m doing pretty well. Only had two small bouts of nausea but never threw up. I’m doing fine with warm liquids like chicken broth. That doesn’t seem to cause any esophageal spasming I was having in the hospital with cold liquids. So I’m sticking to warmer or room temp liquids. I’ve been up walking a lot and haven’t had much of the problem with the gas. Feeling pretty good but just tired. Hope everyone is doing well!💕

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

You go get ‘em! I’m so happy your paperwork is finally being submitted! There’s no use for them to drag it all out when they don’t even know for sure what’s going to happen! I went to my pre-op appointment and had my COVID test this morning. I’m excited but getting so nervous, too. I’m not worried about the actual surgery.... it’s just that it’s all getting so REAL, ya know? I know everything is going to be just fine. This has just been a long time coming and it’s now almost here. Seven more days! 😰

Love it! It looks like my side of the bed! 😂 My husband says I’m from The Princess and The Pea with all my layers of bedding. 🤣

What Should I Pack For VSG Surgery?

Also, I don't think anything chewable is a good idea. You might be better off with the dissolving strips if anything. GasX doesn’t make the strips anymore.

What Should I Pack For VSG Surgery?

I’m packing face wipes, hair brush and hair ties, chapstick, toothbrush and toothpaste, yoga pants, crocs, GasX chewables, extra long phone charger and phone. I’ll probably throw in a few more last minute items but that’s most of it. I hear some people bring a sleep mask and ear plugs, too.
  23. Congratulations on your surgery! Sounds like you’re doing pretty well. Hope the gas pains have gotten better. Best wishes and keep us up on how you’re doing!

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with your surgery team dragging their feet. I would prepare and maybe start some form of liquid diet just in case. ??? Call the surgery scheduler to make sure your info has been sent to your insurance company for approval regardless if there is a ban or not. The approval will be good for awhile so at least you’ll be ready when surgery time rolls around. I completely understand your frustration! I wanted to let you know that my insurance company finally came through for me today and my surgery was approved! My sleep study info got sent to them yesterday and because my sleep apnea is so bad they approved me. Keep your eyes on your goal and put your foot down if it’s needed. Sometimes we just have to take control and be our own healthcare advocate. You’ve worked hard for your goal and you CAN reach it! Best wishes and keep me updated! 💕
