I’m 65 years old and although I’ve been morbidly obese for about 15 years I am blessed with good health. I had a lap band installed around 12 years ago (Yep it’s still there) but I was not very successful. I don’t consider surgery lightly however I’ve gotten to the point where my joints are failing and painful, and lugging around this weight is becoming more than I can deal with. I fear my not-to-distant future will be in a wheelchair if I don’t take quick and drastic action. Plus my wonderful husband has Parkinson’s disease and I am committed to taking care of him. I’m waiting (and waiting and waiting) for grandchildren and I want to be here, moving, and healthy for them.
My surgery is scheduled for October 14, 2020. I’m excited, scared, anxious, and committed. I’m ready to accept any life changes which must happen to make this a success as it has become glaringly apparent to me that my mobility must match the level of my inner life. Nothing is more important.
